Omiwa Shrine Otorii
This torii gate was built in 1981 to commemorate Emperor Showa’s visit to the shrine and his 60th year on the throne. With a height of 32.2 meters and a distance of 23 meters between pillars, it is one of the largest torii gates in Japan. You can see Mt. Miwa clearly behind the torii gate. It is the best torii gate in Japan that allows cars to pass through.
Omiwa Shrine is located at the foot of Mt. Miwa in Sakurai City. As you can see from the fact that “Okami” is written as “Omiwa”, the deity enshrined at this shrine is said to be the greatest of all gods.
