*Nikka Whisky “Yoichi Distillery”* was established in 1934 in Yoichi, which has a cool and humid climate similar to Scotland, after Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whiskey,
learned the art of making authentic whiskey in Scotland in 1918.

Even today, rich, powerful malt whisky is produced using the traditional coal-fired distillation method.

In February 2022, several facilities, including the kiln (first drying tower), were designated as important cultural properties of Japan as an irreplaceable historical asset for the development of Japan’s whiskey industry.

There are tours (reservation required) where you can see the whiskey production process, a tasting bar where you can sample whiskey, and a shop.

ニッカウヰスキーの創業者・竹鶴政孝が1918年にスコットランドで本格的なウイスキー造りを学び、スコットランドに似た涼しく多湿な気候の余市に1934年に設立されました。

現在でも、伝統的な石炭燃焼蒸留法を用いて、濃厚で力強いモルトウイスキーが生産されています。

2022年2月、キルン塔（第一乾燥塔）をはじめとする複数の施設が、
日本のウイスキー産業発展におけるかけがえのない歴史的資産として認められ、重要文化財に指定されました。

ウィスキーの製造工程の見学（要予約）や試飲ができるテイスティングバー、ショップなどがあります。
