Welcome to my second part of my Nara Trip! Heading back to the hotel after feeding deer with a friend! The hotel is a very quaint but luxurious two story building with excellent presentation that emphasizes deer as it’s theme. Welcome to Hotel New Wakasa! A night stay for me was $200 (¥31,338) 😱 The lobby is quiet and serene Full of Nara’s mascot merchandise and deer in general! Was given complimentary green tea while I wait for my room Here is a tour of my room! By japanese tradition, you must take off shoes and sandals upon entering the room. Cute deer figurines! What a room! So minimal yet beautiful and spacious! A couch perhaps? The bathroom is large! The sink works hehe Beautiful view of the rural town and green lands! What’s this? The hotel room comes with it’s own hot spring bath! Well designed shower! The toilet Whaaa…. the toilet opened on it’s own The Nara mascots in the lobby Us hotel patrons were offered a ride to the Omizutori. A ceremony to welcome Spring. Arrived at Nigatsudo Hall, a sub temple of Todaji! So many people came to watch! The fire rises! This is called an otaimatsu, to bestow the onlookers with a safe year. How nice! Going back to the hotel at night is so serene Offered a hot towel by the staff Beautiful morning! Trying out the onsen to wake myself up! Look at this view… It’s just so relaxing Another side of the hotel with a great view! There’s also an exclusive onsen you can reserve at the top for the best view Off to breakfast! The interior design is so nice! Kaiseki breakfast! It’s quite a lot Daikon (radish) soup I believe. Perfect Tamago (egg) roll I’m not going to guess what kind of fish, it’s delicious regardless haha Purple rice! Niboshi and umeboshi (dried anchovies and dried Japanese plum) Yummy Savory tofu with mushroom and shrimp Dessert! Some sort of gelatin? So good I finished it all! More deer ornaments near the lobby There is a general onsen and resting area! Complimentary drinks Visitors write and draw their experiences at Nara and New Wakasa It’s so lovely to see what everyone put Cute and funny from all around the world! A wild Naruto drawing appears One last looks before I leave! I’m given a cute postcard of smiling deer as a gift! Buying some cute Nara souvenirs at the train station Back to more modern looking Japanese civilization… I love Nara. One of my favorite places in Japan
