三ツ城古墳は、南の八幡山からのびる丘陵の先端を利用して造られた3基の古墳からなる古墳群です。そのうち第1号古墳は全長約92メートルの巨大な前方後円墳で、広島県内最大級の古墳です。
その規模や副葬品から安芸地方の大豪族の墓と考えられています。
1982(昭和57)年6月3日に史跡に指定され、1990(平成2)年度から1993(平成5)年度にかけて、発掘調査の成果を踏まえた保存と復元のための工事が実施されました。また、周囲は公園として整備され、史跡を身近に感じられる場となっています。

The Mitsujo Tumulus is a group of three tumuli built at the tip of a hill extending from Mt. Hachiman in the south. The first tumulus is a huge keyhole-shaped tumulus with a total length of about 92 meters, making it one of the largest tumuli in Hiroshima prefecture.
Due to its size and grave goods, it is thought to be the tomb of a powerful family in the Aki region.
It was designated as a historic site on June 3, 1982, and from 1990 to 1993, conservation and restoration work was carried out based on the results of excavations. . Additionally, the surrounding area has been developed as a park, making it a place where you can feel close to historical sites.
