【塩船観音】

★塩船観音寺の代名詞ともいえるお祭りが「つつじまつり」です。境内の裏山にはヤマツツジが自生しており、昭和40年につつじ園の構想が計画され、翌年からつつじの植栽が始まりました。
早くも昭和42年に第1回つつじまつりが開催され、年々つつじ園の整備は進み、平成22年の開創壱千三百五十年祭で塩船平和観音立像がつつじ園の頂上に落慶し、花の寺観音寺の現在の姿になりました。

★つつじ園はすり鉢状の斜面に囲まれており、周囲をぐるりと咲くツツジをご覧いただけます。

★例年4月の上旬から早咲きのミツバツツジが咲きはじめ、園内で一番の本数の中咲きのクルメ系キリシマ系ツツジが4月の中旬～下旬ごろに咲き始めるとつつじ園のピークを迎えます。また、4月下旬～5月上旬には遅咲きのリュウキュウツツジ等が咲き、およそ一カ月間ツツジをお楽しみいただけます。
