The COOLEST Place In JAPAN! šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ Kusatsu Onsen

good morning everyone once again from JapanĀ
today we’re in this amazing Japanese onsonĀ Ā
town called kusatsu which is very snowy rightĀ
now kind of a perfect setting so if you’re notĀ Ā
familiar and onson town is basically justĀ
like a hot spring town so Japan has manyĀ Ā
of these places where there’s like naturalĀ
Hot Springs also kind of like Resorts whereĀ Ā
you can bathe in the hot spring water and that’sĀ
what we’re going to be doing in this video soĀ Ā
we’re here in April and we didn’t know if it wasĀ
going to be snowing I think that’s going to makeĀ Ā
it a lot nicer though the mixture of being in theĀ
hot springs and having the snowy scenery and we’reĀ Ā
staying in this house here I’ll give you the houseĀ
tour as usual take my shoes off as you’re expectedĀ Ā
to do they always provide these little slippersĀ
in Japan so it’s a new house but it’s kind ofĀ Ā
like a traditional style as you can see you gotĀ
like the sliding Japanese doors that I’ve seenĀ Ā
many times pretty much just one big room so myĀ
parents will sleep in there we’re in here theyĀ Ā
do have these kind of shutters though that comesĀ
down kind of separates it do you know how muchĀ Ā
this place was $200 per night per night so soĀ
100 for us 100 for them it’s really nice thoughĀ Ā
yeah it’s full of like Hightech things yeahĀ
another interesting thing that they had wasĀ Ā
this little machine here so you put these thingsĀ
here under the sheets and turn it on and it heatsĀ Ā
up the bed underneath and then this way is theĀ
kitchen got a really nice big kitchen we justĀ Ā
had breakfast and through here the toilet theĀ
toilet separate from the bathroom we got theĀ Ā
washing machine and this is the shower and bathĀ
so we’re going to walk to the main center of theĀ Ā
town now which is pretty close only it takes aboutĀ
10 minutes to walk there so so quiet on these backĀ Ā
streets we’re staying in more of a residentialĀ
area there are hotels and stuff closer to theĀ Ā
center and the weirdest thing ever not weird butĀ
just unexpected was that we were walking here lastĀ Ā
night and there was a lady that started to speakĀ
Portuguese to us and she was uh Japanese BrazilianĀ Ā
so it was just like very unusual especiallyĀ
in a place like this but uh there are manyĀ Ā
Japanese that went to Brazil so we have a bigĀ
Brazilian Japanese population There communityĀ Ā
yeah yeah but it seemed like she lives there nowĀ
so I guess grew up in Brazil and then moved here
[Music]
that the icicles yeah it looks like the ChristmasĀ
tree yeah pretty cool so these buildings here areĀ Ā
the Hot Spring Resorts so in these ones I thinkĀ
you’ll have your own like private little hotĀ Ā
spring room the place that we’re staying the bathĀ
the water is not coming from the hot spring it’sĀ Ā
just normal water got the anime not sure whichĀ
one that is they look pretty fancy the resorts areĀ Ā
expensive probably yeah yeah the accommodationsĀ
here were a lot more expensive than in Nik theĀ Ā
place that we stayed before and you get theseĀ
buildings here that are the public Hot SpringsĀ Ā
so you can go in there for free so here at theĀ
hot springs you’re supposed to get completelyĀ Ā
naked so you can’t film or take pictures butĀ
we’re also thinking of renting one a privateĀ Ā
one so then we should be able to film and thisĀ
is the Town Center so this right here is like the
Highlight it’s called Yuba TakiĀ
never seen anything like it before
oh look at the Water Co too we only saw thisĀ
place at night last night so this is a hot waterĀ Ā
field all this is coming from a volcanic areaĀ
nearby that’s supplying it with this hot springĀ Ā
water so so steamy right now looks like a waterĀ
slide you’re going to see it’s even bigger thisĀ Ā
is just a small part of it yeah definitely neverĀ
seen anything like that no it’s very unique andĀ Ā
smells really bad the sofa yeah like you whenĀ
you eat too many eggs that’s the that’s theĀ Ā
smell the rust and egg smell yeah but prettyĀ
awesome that you have this in the center ofĀ Ā
the town I actually saw this place for theĀ
first time in Gabriel traveler’s video heĀ Ā
came here I think a few years ago and whenĀ
I saw this I I thought definitely putting itĀ Ā
on my list in Japan and now we’re hereĀ
so that’s nice they have this uh oneĀ Ā
your hands it’s hot I need it cuz I haven’t beenĀ
wearing gloves Carol’s been wearing gloves oh itĀ Ā
is hot yeah you can’t keep your hand in there noĀ
bit too hot yeah it’s also nice that they haveĀ Ā
these parts here where you can heat your feetĀ
there’s a few of them around the town so it’sĀ Ā
also nice cuz they have this like walking deckĀ
all the way around so you can just walk aroundĀ Ā
the place and you’re going to see how cool itĀ
is at night it’s a other different vibe I meanĀ Ā
right now it’s around 1Ā° cus really cold so yeahĀ
the steam’s obviously super visible in this kindĀ Ā
of temperature but at night it’s lding up so yeahĀ
it just looked different you’ll see in the video
[Music]
[Music]
so you got yet again another foot heatingĀ
Place soak your feet do that later on soĀ Ā
now we’re at the top it’s like this hereĀ
so you’re probably wondering what thisĀ Ā
is it’s actually a water cooling like aĀ
facility I guess I don’t know if that’sĀ Ā
what you call it a facility cuz when theĀ
water comes up it’s 55Ā° C way too warmĀ Ā
so it passes through this cools down and thenĀ
the water gets supplied to all like the onomeĀ Ā
resorts and the businesses that need to useĀ
the water pretty intense color yeah the sofaĀ Ā
color so I also read that there’s around 4,000Ā
to 5,000 L of hot spring water coming out ofĀ Ā
here per minute supposed to be one of theĀ
most out of all the onson in Japan [Music]
[Music]
so we’re going to walk up to this TempleĀ
now can see everyone walking up there IĀ Ā
could see the Pagoda up there beforeĀ
pretty cool looking Pagoda looks likeĀ Ā
it could be slippery yeah be careful iceĀ
stairs so there are also ski resorts inĀ Ā
this area and yeah it is the season rightĀ
now we saw the slopes when we were driving
here cool statue when was the last timeĀ
you were in a snowy place oh last yearĀ Ā
in Argentina in Chile Bar lodge oh okay it wasĀ
like this yeah it was actually like this it wasĀ Ā
uh nobody lost we only had a few bits left butĀ
you travel to Chile on the road was like thisĀ Ā
okay nice yeah we haven’t seen this in agesĀ
I don’t remember the last time so I mentionedĀ Ā
in the last video in Nico that I wanted to seeĀ
a Japanese Temple in the snow and now we have
it yeah this looks awesome I don’t even know ifĀ
I’ve ever been to a a temple in the snow beforeĀ Ā
beautiful
[Music] [Applause] [Music]
the gaama shrine W it’s from
1703 didn’t realize it would be that old MonumentĀ
to the poet bash located along a narrow road is aĀ Ā
monument with a poem written by the Haiku MasterĀ
B praising the healing properties of katu’sĀ Ā
waters I don’t know if this is the the monumentĀ
here already all these little buddha looking
statues how cool there’s even more there manĀ
that is one impressive Cota though the colorsĀ Ā
the vibrant oranges mixed with the white is thisĀ
a graveyard yeah if you went around the otherĀ Ā
side of this building you get a really good shotĀ
of the of the Town yeah yeah we can go later onĀ Ā
this pigot looks brand newĀ
yeah I think it is [Music]Ā Ā
so one thing that I’ve noticed in Japan is thatĀ
that if there is a popular place to eat peopleĀ Ā
will queue up for a long time they’re patientĀ
I think that’s a pudding place I did read thatĀ Ā
there is a famous pudding place around here that’sĀ
probably it and now we’re just making our way toĀ Ā
uh Park which is one of the other attractionsĀ
to see I think it’s only like a 10 minuteĀ Ā
walk not far at all so I forgot to mention how weĀ
arrived here you can get a train the bullet trainĀ Ā
from Tokyo to another city nearby and then fromĀ
there there is a bus but we missed the last busĀ Ā
the last bus is at 3:40 I think p.m. I checkĀ
that out tooro I think that is I’ve seen thatĀ Ā
anime before yeah so we missed that bus and weĀ
had to get a taxi the taxi was like $135 but itĀ Ā
is an hour away some interesting Foods JapanĀ
always has a bunch of things that I’ve neverĀ Ā
seen before those are like potatoes you canĀ
get the fluffy do not sure how you pronounceĀ Ā
it I remember this character too we’ve seen aĀ
few animes yeah yeah we’ve seen a lot of theĀ Ā
studio gibi animes and we love them yeahĀ
I think this is the lady from SpiritedĀ Ā
Away the famous one now we watched this oneĀ
how’s moving castle Yeah Yeah with the fire
[Music]
mhm ah so I saw a video of thisĀ
place where they buy all the eggsĀ Ā
in the hot spring water cool idea in the little
baskets so it’s pretty coolĀ
as you’re walking around cuzĀ Ā
you can still see the steamingĀ
boiling hot water really flowing
here so I think that this is the entrance toĀ
the park already Soo so we’re going to try outĀ Ā
the the foot warming B this one looks evenĀ
cooler than the ones in the main Town Main
Center real hot yeah I don’t know whatĀ
temperature that is what do you thinkĀ Ā
car 35 or something may more more yes youĀ
can see the water is just coming down hereĀ Ā
everything’s steamy it’s aĀ
good idea that they did this
[Music]
[Music]
yeah so we got those little foot towels from theĀ
place that we’re staying I think they also haveĀ Ā
like bath robes there for the onson that we canĀ
take when we go got the steamy waterfall little
waterfall so it’s somewhere around here where theyĀ
have one of the main big public Hot Springs whichĀ Ā
I think we’re going to come to tonight certainlyĀ
a different kind of Park oh yeah it’s really coolĀ Ā
the contrast of the snow and then Steam and hotĀ
water it’s really amazing yeah that’s basicallyĀ Ā
why we loved Iceland when we went to Iceland inĀ
the winter because of the same kind of contrastĀ Ā
so there’s actually like multiple areas whereĀ
I think you can put your feet in look at theĀ Ā
animal over there is that a real any is it realĀ
yeah I thought he was a I thought he was likeĀ Ā
a stuffed anal but moving looking over what isĀ
that though I wish I had my camera here [Music]Ā Ā
I don’t think this one’s so nice and warm noĀ
definitely not this may be the first time thatĀ Ā
I see like a frozen lake really yeah I don’t thinkĀ
I’ve seen it before yeah I don’t think we saw thatĀ Ā
in Iceland I think the water was always likeĀ
well flowing not frozen it’s beautiful aroundĀ Ā
here big Forest Area so there are walking trailsĀ
in the park as well where you can walk throughĀ Ā
the forest seems like they clear up the snowĀ
pretty good so you can go for winter walks
[Music]Ā Ā
so we just came into this store they gave usĀ
this kind of sweet hair has like a red beanĀ Ā
paste inside interesting he also gave us someĀ
green tea you going to buy one yeah this one isĀ Ā
really good I think it’s matcha yeah probablyĀ
but the texture is very different like softĀ Ā
yeah spongy so you got all different kinds here soĀ
we might get a box like this 1,400 the tea is alsoĀ Ā
matcha tea too I always really like matcha teaĀ
so I think today instead of going to an actualĀ Ā
restaurant we’re just going to buy things thatĀ
we can eat straight away take out so this is aĀ Ā
dumpling Place probably get some pork dumplingsĀ
so we just got one dumpling each it’s 350 only gotĀ Ā
one cuz we’re going to try out some other thingsĀ
you like it some other things in there it’s notĀ Ā
just pork is it no it’s pork and veget vegetablesĀ
onions or something like that yeah I can tasteĀ Ā
onions it’s nice yeah it’s nice nice little snackĀ
hello uh one fish 900 900 I pay here pay youĀ Ā
all okay never had a fish like this beforeĀ
smells great though how much was it 900 okayĀ Ā
I love fish so yeah really good what is allĀ
that looks like eggs I don’t know it’s niceĀ Ā
and crispy though salty salty fish taste I thinkĀ
I like the dumplings more yeah so we’re going toĀ Ā
head to this little restaurant now just get theĀ
takeouts need Google translate though I mightĀ Ā
just get the skewers so it seems that in here weĀ
have to order from this menu Google Translate toĀ Ā
the rescue and the translation is good um yeahĀ
I think so enough yeah yeah enough I got thisĀ Ā
one but I don’t know if I put the money beforeĀ
I think I saw people put money in first thousand
yeah please wait outside the store okay thank youĀ
okay thank you it it will beat make a sound okayĀ Ā
thank you so we got a bunch of different thingsĀ
each one is 300 so they’re all the same price soĀ Ā
I think we’re going to get our drinks from theĀ
vending machine we’ve never done that beforeĀ Ā
probably got a milk tea 140 you going to getĀ
that green tea yeah this one same price so that’sĀ Ā
funny this is hot it’s hot tea it’s actuallyĀ
really hot it’s hard to hold yours is more likeĀ Ā
warm yeah yeah Mine mine’s really hot lookĀ
I guess they must be heated the entire timeĀ Ā
is that us beeping yeah okay thank you very muchĀ
okay thank you so I got two orders of the chickenĀ Ā
skewers and also this pork thing that I neverĀ
really had before I got the cheese balls what isĀ Ā
that it’s something called Machi it’s a JapaneseĀ
thing and it’s made from rice m Mo yeah steaming
too very strong black pepper taste real niceĀ
though how’s your cheese really good very creamyĀ Ā
taste the black pepper it has loads it’s tastyĀ
very nice the mai it looks like cheese but IĀ Ā
thought it was cheese I don’t think so like a veryĀ
gooey rice pudding or cake I don’t know but thereĀ Ā
is a sauce on top but it’s salty not not a sweetĀ
thing yeah it’s basically like a crispy mini pork
dumpling it’s only a thin layer on the outsideĀ
though pretty much the whole thing is spk IĀ Ā
really like it though I think I prefer this moreĀ
than the chicken which was already delicious
[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]Ā Ā
so we’re going for the private Spa experienceĀ
now otak noou I and that’s one of the famousĀ Ā
ones here so we did make a reservation hereĀ
before we passed through here so we’re in ourĀ Ā
private room this is 6,400 for the hourĀ
that’s for all of us so yeah really goodĀ Ā
price I thought it’d be more and it’s biggerĀ
than I thought so this is all ours throughĀ Ā
here you have the to toilet got the sink andĀ
even got like a scale to weigh yourself seeĀ Ā
how much weight you’ve lost and then it’s inĀ
here nice and cozy yeah very cold how’s theĀ Ā
temperature it’s good I was expecting it to beĀ
hotter it’s more comfortable than I saw [Music]Ā Ā
so I’m not sure how hot it is in hereĀ
maybe 35 40Ā° it’s nice though it’s it’sĀ Ā
bearable have you guys been in a like a hotĀ
spring before no no actually never no just onĀ Ā
normal the steam room yeah Ste getting realĀ
steamed up yeah so we’re not last in very longĀ Ā
yeah like uh how long each time 6 7even minutesĀ
yeah yeah and then we’re out so I read that outĀ Ā
of the top 10 onon towns in Japan this is theĀ
only one where the water is acidic and someĀ Ā
people say that you get even more health benefitsĀ
because of that the acidity if you have like skinĀ Ā
ailments things like that how are you feeling 10Ā
years younger looking 10 years younger [Music]
easy so we’re now going to watch a um mommyĀ
demonstration which is a centuries old uhĀ Ā
method that they would use to cool down the hotĀ
spring water in the past and they still show youĀ Ā
how to do it I think it’s in this buildingĀ
here hello uh four people pay card cash okay
2,800
okay all right so I read that it’sĀ
best to be head on maybe here thenĀ Ā
so it’s 700 per person I think it’s whatĀ
20 30 minutes yeah 20 minutes [Music]
[Music] Jo
[Music]
joee for
[Music] [Applause] [Music]
so it is night time now and we’re going toĀ
show you you Baki in the dark it’s stillĀ Ā
not Pitch whack yet but you can already see theĀ
lights the purple lights back there completelyĀ Ā
different and obviously with it being colderĀ
it’s just way way way more steamy it’s almostĀ Ā
spooky looking yeah like Halloween F yeah itĀ
is like Halloween especially with the lanternĀ Ā
there litting up incredible really unusualĀ
so we’re going to make our way back to theĀ Ā
park cuz we’re also going to go to the hotĀ
spring there see how it is man it really is
spooky the way yeah I can’t see anythingĀ
at all we came here yesterday but itĀ Ā
wasn’t like this wasn’t this steamy whatĀ
the hell looks like we’re in a a sauna
so they even have the lights on this sideĀ
too starting to rain now yeah did say thatĀ Ā
it might snow that would be pretty cool tooĀ
I don’t know better than rain that’s for sure
[Music]
look [Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]Ā Ā
wow the the park is looking in saying too likeĀ
just as spooky so this is where we dipped ourĀ Ā
feet this morning pink light crazy there’sĀ
no one around at night so I think all thoseĀ Ā
people that we saw during the day a lot ofĀ
them do come on the day trips a lot of theĀ Ā
stores closed too so in the hot spring nowĀ
that we’re going to it’s separated so we’reĀ Ā
not going to be in the same one especially cuzĀ
you uh yeah you get naked with the strangersĀ Ā
they’re not going to let men men and womenĀ
together I think on the Fridays it’s mixedĀ Ā
and then you have to go in your swimwear butĀ
it’s not a Friday today so yeah we’re goingĀ Ā
to be separate yeah so time to get nakedĀ
with a bunch of Japanese people exciting
[Music]
so that was really nice I ended up spending aboutĀ
40 minutes in there was a really big area howĀ Ā
did yours go it was really cool I was the onlyĀ
Foreigner there but it was fine and uh I think IĀ Ā
almost fainted once too hot yeah it’s really hotĀ
so when I stood up I was like oh but but I likedĀ Ā
it and yeah with the cold weather weather outsideĀ
it’s really good yeah and check this out now IĀ Ā
don’t know if you can see on the camera it’s soĀ
dark but it’s snowing like crazy oh yeah you canĀ Ā
definitely see that there snowing big time so itĀ
was amazing when we were set in the the hot springĀ Ā
the snow the steam the heat the cold the battleĀ
of the the elements oh and also it’s I think it’sĀ Ā
important to mention that the ense here are tattooĀ
friendly so that’s something that we we search EdĀ Ā
about uh this place before and that’s also whyĀ
we decided to come here we don’t even have thatĀ Ā
many tattoos but there are some that don’t acceptĀ
any at all yeah this really is amazing so bizarre
[Music]
a [Music]
[Music]Ā Ā
so Carl said this has been her bestĀ
snowing experience ever yes ever cuzĀ Ā
it’s really beautiful with the templeĀ
and just everything here this team it’sĀ Ā
really amazing yeah it might actually be theĀ
nicest snow I’ve ever seen because of the
setting hope it looks okay onĀ
the camera cuz it’s so dark
[Music]
[Music]
so that’s going to be it here from kusatsu reallyĀ
enjoyed this place it might be my favorite placeĀ Ā
on the trip so far it is a destination just forĀ
a quick trip though in about 2 days you can seeĀ Ā
pretty much everything and that’s even goingĀ
at a relaxed pace but there are other thingsĀ Ā
you can do in the area as we mentioned you canĀ
ski things like that that would be pretty coolĀ Ā
doing skiing and then after being a able toĀ
come to a place like this and relaxing in theĀ Ā
hot springs and in the next video we’re going toĀ
be getting on the bullet train back to Tokyo andĀ Ā
we’ll be doing some more things around thereĀ
and hopefully the cherry blossom season willĀ Ā
have started so it will be extra beautiful if youĀ
like this one just drop a like as usual to supportĀ Ā

  2. Interesting location! The private hot spring looks so relaxing! Does your skin smell of sulfur after the bath?

  3. What a beautiful places in Japan thanks for sharing your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

  4. I always watch your videos. Interesting contents. I wish I can go to Kusatso Onsen in the future. It reminds me of Yellowstone hot springs in Wyoming.šŸ˜Š

  5. Absolutely magical. I loved my time in Japan, such a beautiful country. Thank you for sharing such an amazing video. Special!

  6. 23:49 Oh, did you wash every inch of your body before entering? Swimsuits are not allowed to be worn in any hot springs because they are unhygienic. If you enter the bathtub in a Swimsuits, the water will quickly become cloudy with dust, debris, and detergent residue.

  7. Every tourist picks up similar places and makes a video of them rushing around. However, your videos featuring Kusatsu are really wonderful. I think this is worth it.

  9. Japan in the winter seems pleasant! Youā€™re in a sweatshirt so must be comfortable temperature. Seems like a lot is affordable even if the lodging isnā€™t cheap. Good food, beautiful nature

  10. The variety of places that you have visited is amazing. You were just recently in Namibia, landscapes so barren and hot, and, now this.

  11. The snow falling between the trees was just wonderful. I could watch that all day. This was a great video!šŸ‘ā™„ļø

  12. I was in line at TJ Max today and met a Brazilian who moved here 5 years ago she is an actress and singer. I'm going to see her next month on stage šŸ˜ I said bon dia. I hope that was ok because I only know Portuguese a little

  13. I just lost my dad late last year and I am loving your Travel Vlogs with your parents. Keep making memories, best wishes!ā¤
