【伊勢商人】旧長谷川治郎兵衛家　松阪市の豪商　Japanese Garden Walking Tour

The Hasegawa family was founded in Ootemachi, Tokyo in 1675, and later operated five cotton wholesale stores
and a cotton purchasing store in Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, while the owner also worked at the Kishu domain government office.
Matsusaka merchants actively opened stores in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka from the early 17th century,
and they were called Ise merchants and became famous as one of Japan’s three major merchants, along with Osaka merchants and Omi merchants.
The main building and storehouse are designated as important cultural properties of the country.
