in Japan there are over 150,000 temples
and shrines combined however as more and
more tourist are attracted to these
sacred places the opportunities for
visitors to fully experience Buddhism
within the temple wall is somewhat
limited so today let’s visit the
Buddhist temple in Kyoto to experience
what it’s like to become a Buddhist
disciple together it’s a collaboration
with asosan the priest of Tao Temple who
has been introduced by my Shinto
Priestess friend suzu Chang and in his
video he answered questions from my
viewers about Buddhism so please don’t
forget to check out his video after
watching mine his family Temple daoi is

connected to a shopping mall here at
daoi asosan holds an event called

where participants can become pews for
day to learn about the rituals and
practices of Japanese Buddhism I’m a
little nervous because it’s my first
time

Buddhism is to remove suffering he went
on to say if you disregard the happiness
of others and cannot feel happy unless
you yourself are happy you will find
fewer moments of Happiness he stressed
the importance of experiencing others
happiness as our

he used his illustration during hisi and
it was very interesting and something
new for me to learn next we recite the
Sutra signaling the beginning of the
training
then we weara a Loof shaped monk

applying Zuko a fragrant powder to our
hands by rubbing it into to purify
ourselves
we also wear a set of juu which serves
the purpose of counting the Sutra
recitations and also plays a row of
purification we learn how to sit
properly in the cesa posture how to
stand and how to

walk
for okay
[Music]
we practice the basic walking technique
of taking six steps to cover a distance
of one tatami mat which is also followed
in disciplines such as tea
ceremony it was not easy but it was fun
to practice
oh after moving to the main hall PS
learn how the place for prayer is
constructed B incense with heated
charcoal and learn how to
pray then finally we move to what could
be considered the main practice striking
Muno I was very excited to try
it Muno which means wooden fish in
Japanese is used when chanting sutras it
is modeled after a fish that always
keeps its eyes open symbolizing
diligence in practice with not
sleep let’s try how small and big Muno
sounds like

the surau amut originates from the
ancient Indian Sanskrit language which
means I entrust myself to amida Buddha
wholeheartedly and it will guide us to
gokak Joo pure land after death where
there is no suffering
I March my parents face in my mind while
[Music]
[Music]
chanting well it was a brief experience
but the proper usually last for around 2
to 3our session and international
visitors are also welcome so I highly
recommend trying it if you ever have the
chance in Japan there are around 70,000
Buddhist temples and around 880,000
Shinto shrines in my channel I visited
many Shinto shrines where I feel the
sense of connection with nature and
things around me but thanks to asosan I
got to know Buddhism a little more
closer and I feel like I can learn the
wisdom to live as a human being I felt
integrating both Essence can lead to
make my life more fulfilling one thank
you very much asosan for this wonderful
experience and his wife for welcoming me
and helping our collaboration also thank
you suan for connecting me with asosan

  14. Very interesting Ikue san! 😊 I for a long time had interest and read more about Bhuddism. When I was in Tokyo in 2019, I visited "Naritasan Fukagawa Fudōdō" Shingon temple and followed fire ceremony. As I was disappointed in catholic religion for a long time, I decided to follow Bhuddism from that moment on. For me, it corresponds more to my moral and ethical values and the things I believe in. So, I wish I could follow this "apprentice" education also.🙏 Arigatou gozaimashite Ikue san!🙇‍♂😃

  15. Hee. I kind of assumed this would be a longer video when i set it aside, but it doesn't have to be, does it?

  16. I really enjoyed coming back to watch this again. I love seeing the level of spiritualty people reach, it touches my heart. I am Christian and I see my source of joy (and in fact all things) as a river that flows from God the Father, through Jesus, to me, and perhaps to others through my love. Not sure if you will read this Lemi but maybe you might find the personal experience of a Christian interesting. Have a great week!
