Yoshino Senbonzakura is located in Yoshino Town, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture.
Because cherry trees are clustered here in four areas (upper, middle, lower, and back), they are called “Hitome senbon,” meaning “so gorgeous that one can see a thousand at a glance.
Each area is also called “Shimo-Senbon” or “Kami-Senbon,” meaning “a thousand cherry trees can be seen.
In fact, however, the four areas in total have a total of 30,000 cherry trees, not just 1,000, making it a very extravagant place.
Usually, from early to late April, you can see the cherry blossoms blooming in order of increasing temperature: lower senbon, middle senbon, upper senbon, and back senbon.
