【Smart Stay SHIZUKU】東京 上野にある女性も安心のカプセルホテルに泊まってみた!Smart Stay SHIZUKU 上野駅前

Hi there! We’re at Ueno Station in Tokyo. Today, we’re staying at a capsule hotel in Ueno, Tokyo. The capsule hotel is closest to the Shinobazu exit of Ueno Station. You can see Ameya-Yokocho. Let’s check it out at night. You can see Keisei Ueno Station. You can get here directly from Narita Airport.

Oh, the cherry blossoms are in bloom! It’s too early for the Somei Yoshino to bloom. Wonder what kind of cherry blossoms these are? In Ueno, you’ll see panda motifs everywhere. The capsule hotel we’re heading to is just nearby. About a 4-minute walk from the Shinobazu exit of JR Ueno Station.

Smart Stay SHIZUKU Ueno Station. There’s a sauna in the large communal bath. We still have some time before check-in at 4 PM, so I’ve come to drop off my luggage. It seems we need to take off our shoes here. Put your shoes in the shoe locker. Lock it up.

You can leave your luggage if it’s between check-in and check-out days. Saw underwear and socks for sale next to the luggage. They also have original merchandise. The keychains with illustrations by Tanaka Katsuki are cute. After leaving our luggage, we came back to see the cherry blossoms we saw earlier. They’re in full bloom.

By the time this video is out, the Somei Yoshino cherry trees in Ueno Park might be blooming. The main reason we came to Ueno… The Tokyo National Museum. There’s so much to see, so we focused on the Heiseikan. I gave ukiyo-e a try! Decided to grab a late lunch at the restaurant on-site.

Went for a tempura platter and warm soba. Next time, I’ll make sure to spare more time. It’s 4 PM, so time to check in. Back at the hotel now. First, fill out a form at the front desk, get briefed, and receive a wristband with an IC chip.

Then, you prepay at the self-check-in machine. Credit cards and QR payments are accepted. Touch the provided wristband to the payment machine. Hmm? The wristband isn’t responding… 😟 Finally got it to work! 😀 There are no slippers in the capsule room. Pick them up from the front desk.

Free rentals available for chargers, thermometers, deodorant sprays, steam irons, nail clippers, and hair irons. Let’s head to the capsule room. There are indoor clothes available near the elevator. Pick the size that fits you. Due to a bit of middle-age spread, I’m going with L size. 😂

The women’s only rooms are on the 2nd floor. The large communal bath is on the basement floor, and the 3rd and 4th floors are for men. There’s a luggage space at the entrance. It can be locked. Seems like they sell women’s underwear at the front desk on the 1st floor.

Handy for a sudden overnight stay. You can’t enter your capsule room without the wristband. Wave the wristband. Heading to my capsule room now. Oh wow, it’s an upper bunk. Wonder if I can climb up there… Made it up, thankfully. 😂 The capsule room is pretty neat. Still pretty quiet this evening.

Let’s close the blinds and give you a room tour. Doesn’t feel claustrophobic. Got a guide to the facilities from the front desk. Info on free rentals and services. There’s a locker with a key. Two hangers. Can’t hang clothes if my backpack’s there. Long coats seem out of the question… There’s a TV.

It’s connected to headphones to prevent sound leakage. You can adjust the angle of the TV. Switch for the ceiling light and the switch for the fan. The fan’s kinda loud… You can adjust the brightness of the side light. Two Type-A USB ports and one power outlet. Here’s the Wi-Fi speed.

There were towels and a bath towel in the capsule room. Guests can get an extra one of each for free. Useful since I’ll bathe twice. Let’s check out the facilities on the women’s floor. Straight through the automatic door on the women’s floor, there’s a washroom, toilets, and a coin laundry.

The washroom is really clean. Note that there’s no hairdryer here. But there are some in the large communal bath. Available are cleansing, face wash, toner, emulsion, and hair essence. There are toothbrushes, combs, hair ties, cotton pads, and cotton swabs. And paper cups too.

Behind the door at the back of the washroom, there’s a toilet. The toilet is very clean. There’s a handwashing station next to the toilet entrance. Laundry room. There are three washers and dryers in the laundry. It’s 200 yen for the washer. The dryer is 100 yen for 10 minutes. There’s a changing room.

It’s nice to have a changing room with mirrors in a capsule hotel. There are also luggage spaces inside the women-only floor. With luggage spaces all around, finding a spot for your stuff seems easy. Let’s go check out the communal space on the first floor. There’s a lounge.

There are tables for eating or working. There’s a LAN cable, power outlets, and Type-A USB ports. And a smoking room. At the very front, there are massage chairs. Relaxing chairs and a big TV. Shelves are filled with lots of manga. The back area is for women only. That’s really nice for women.

There’s a lot of manga in the back too. What should I read? Ah, there’s Kaiji. I’ve seen the anime and live-action movies, but not the manga. Ended up choosing Golden Kamuy. Became a fan after watching the anime on Netflix. Time for a night walk.

When leaving, you hand over your wristband at the front desk and receive a card and a key for the shoe locker. Brr, it’s cold. Early March is still chilly. Meeting up with my daughter again. We’ll take a walk through Ameya-Yokocho. There’s a curry specialty shop. Looks delicious, but it’s still prepping.

Ah, a cute old photo. First time at Ameyoko, even though I’ve seen it on TV. It’s bustling and fun. LOVE ME TENGA. After walking through Ameyoko, celebrated my daughter’s graduation with high-end yakiniku and stopped by Starbucks on the way back. Back at the hotel. Let’s warm up in the large communal bath.

The large communal bath is on the basement floor. The women’s bath is further inside. There’s a women-only shower room. Let’s take a quick look. Wave the wristband to enter. There are two shower rooms. You can lock the door. There are shelves and a trash can. And baskets. There’s a diatomaceous earth bath mat.

The shower room is very clean. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. Cleansing oil and face wash available. The shower room is a lifesaver for when you’re menstruating or if you’re not comfortable in the large bath. Of course, wave your wristband to enter the large bath.

The bath is spacious enough for four people to stretch out. The sauna is equipped with an automatic löyly (steam) system. A cold drink after a bath is nice, right? You can buy from vending machines with your wristband and settle the bill at check-out. Just sitting on a bench, sipping my drink and chilling.

Time to head back to my capsule room and get ready to sleep. Goodnight 😴 Good morning! Slept like a log. Off to the first floor for breakfast. It costs 500 yen. After ordering, wait for your number to be called. Here’s what breakfast looks like. The bread was cold, so I toasted it myself.

Cutlery and water are available. The bread tastes better toasted. What do you guys put on your fried eggs? I’m all for soy sauce. Relaxing in the lounge after breakfast. With 10 a.m. checkout approaching, I’ll change clothes in the dressing room. Returning the indoor wear and towels. Whoa, it’s getting messy. No forgotten items!

Trash goes in the bin! Settling the bill for vending machine purchases and breakfast at the automatic payment machine. After settling up, return the wristband at the front desk and collect the key for my shoe locker. It was raining outside. Thank you, Smart Stay SHIZUKU Ueno Station Front! Seems it snowed during the night.

It was warm inside the capsule hotel, so I didn’t notice. My thoughts on staying at Smart Stay SHIZUKU Ueno Station Front: Not just for overnight stays but also for short stays, so the bath and lounge were always busy.

The hotel was clean overall, and with women-only areas and IC security, I felt safe using the facilities. Thank you for watching!

  2. こーゆー所に日本人が泊まって、普通のホテルや高級ホテルに外人が泊まるという流れがもう出来ちゃったね……。
