This channel is a channel that introduces the charms of Japan through travel to Japan. I came to Kokusai Dori, Okinawa’s busiest downtown area. Kokusai Dori is Okinawa’s true and most famous tourist street, lined with many shops offering Okinawan gourmet food and souvenir shops, and is busy all day long.

It is home to approximately 600 shops and tourist facilities. Here are 10 recommended gourmet foods that you can eat while walking around Kokusai Street. Now, let’s start the video. Mensore! Today I came to Okinawa! Okinawa for the first time in about a year. I’m back on Kokusai Street again.

Last time, we summarized the gourmet food on Kokusai Street, but there are more and more new shops, and there are still some that we haven’t introduced yet, so we’ll be going on a food tour again this time!

Last time I came, the Makishi Public Market was under renovation, so this time I will also go to the public market. Let’s eat gourmet food while walking around Kokusai Street for lunch! I want to eat sea grapes. Yumi loves sea grapes. Then let’s eat.

First, I went to Portama, a restaurant specializing in pork and egg rice balls. This restaurant was born out of the desire for as many people as possible to enjoy freshly made pork and egg onigiri, which is a home-style Okinawan flavor. It’s open from 7am, so it’s recommended for breakfast.

Actually, I introduced this restaurant last time, but it’s so delicious that I highly recommend it, so I’d like to introduce it again. Which one should I order? Last time I ate Shima Rakkyo Tartare. This store has a limited menu. The menu has expanded since the last time I was here.

Poetama is so much fun. Last time I came on a Saturday morning, there was a line of about 10 groups. Since it was a weekday in February, I was able to purchase without having to wait in line. Since it is made after receiving an order, it takes quite a while to complete it.

Maybe it’s because it’s the off-season for sightseeing in Okinawa. Today is February 16th. Let me explain why I came to Okinawa at this time. Did you all understand? I came to Okinawa to participate in the Okinawa Marathon, which will be held two days after filming the video.

I think I’ll upload a video, so please look forward to it. I will introduce the marathon in a few videos later. You’ll burn calories during a marathon, so you need to eat them now. Ah, it smells good. The Makishi Market store, Potama, also has an eat-in space. You can sit and eat slowly.

I ordered a pork and egg rice ball with sea grapes. I’m glad that the sea grapes are plentiful. This is a limited menu at Makishi Market store. I’m happy even before I eat it. Yumi is happy just looking at sea grapes. When I eat sea grapes, I feel like I’ve come to Okinawa.

I’ll enjoy having this. Puchi Puchi. The Po Tama here is the best! There’s nothing better than being able to eat freshly made food. Are sea grapes suitable? The sea grapes are more of a texture accent than a flavor. It’s nice that it gets squishy when you bite into it.

I think I prefer eating it alone. Thank you for the meal! There are 5 Potama stores in Okinawa Prefecture, so if you find one, be sure to give it a try. There are long lines on holidays, so we recommend arriving early. Naha City First Makishi Public Market reopened in March 2023.

When I came last year, it was just before it opened, so it was a bit strange to see it so busy. Inside, the shops are lined up like this. It is a typical Okinawan market, with many unique Okinawan ingredients such as mimiga and colorful fish.

The building has three floors, and you can buy ingredients on the first floor and take them to the restaurants in the dining area on the second floor, where they will cook them for you. Purchase seafood at Nishimei Fresh Fish Shop and take it to the second floor.

This shop sells fresh seafood caught in the waters around Okinawa. Colorful fish such as blue fish and red fish are also sold. Once you order the ingredients at the restaurant, they will take you to the second floor. It seems to be relatively empty after 3pm.

There are about 10 shops on the second floor. The restaurant you will be taken to have your food cooked will be randomly selected. We were guided to a shop called “Hoenen”. Noctilucent shellfish! I had the night light shellfish grilled as sashimi and butter. It’s my first time to eat luminous shellfish.

In the waters around Japan, this shellfish lives in the warm waters south of Yakushima and Tanegashima. First, enjoy the taste of the ingredients with sashimi. The texture is crunchy. I think I like it better grilled with butter. The recommended way to eat nightglow shellfish is grilled with butter. good!

Makes me want to drink beer! Which do you prefer, sashimi or butter grilled? Personally, I prefer butter-grilled. Butter fried is too delicious. It would be nice if you could buy the ingredients on the first floor and have them cook it on the second floor. Luminous shellfish has a slightly sweet taste.

I’m also curious about the taste of colorful fish. It looks delicious, so if you’re interested, please give it a try. Thank you for the meal! It was my first time trying yako shellfish and it was delicious. A very large noctilucent shell lid. The shell lid is too big.

This shop called “Sata Andagi Ayumu” is located on the second floor of the public market. I wanted to try the sata andagi here as it seems to be famous for its deliciousness, but unfortunately it was sold out. It seems so delicious that it sells out, so be sure to give it a try.

H&B Gela Okinawa is a gelato specialty store located inside the public market. Raw gelato is gelato made by mixing raw Okinawan fruits using a special manufacturing method. It contains a lot of fruits directly from the farm and is popular for its juicy taste. Mango gelato half size.

I thought it would be a single color, but it was a mix of different things. My favorite mango flavor. Mango☆ Delicious. This is mango. This gelato is irresistible for mango lovers. Well, it’s mango flavored, or rather, it’s like eating mango itself. It’s so delicious. Really mango.

I was shocked at how delicious it was beyond my imagination. Highly recommended for authentic gelato. I went to the Humber store, which was located in the alley of Kokusai Dori. They sell unique hamburgers made with Okinawan ingredients. JEF is an abbreviation for Japan excellent foods. Nuyaru burger set.

For my drink, I chose JEF Orange. It has a different taste from 100% orange juice. It’s like orange juice in a bottle. Nuyaru burger recommended by the staff. Contains bitter gourd patty and luncheon meat. I really like this. Does bitter melon taste good?

It tastes like bitter melon, but the luncheon meat is even better. The white sesame seeds on the buns are also a nice accent and delicious. The cheese is freshly baked, so it’s melty and delicious. I would like to see it expanded not only to Okinawa but all over Japan.

I will eat bitter gourd ring which is a side menu of the set. Thick bitter gourd. I’ll enjoy having this. It’s really bittersweet. Bitter melon has a strong bitter taste. I don’t think people who don’t like the bitter taste of bitter gourd will like it.

Yujiro started liking bitter gourd due to Yumi’s influence. The bitterness of this bitter gourd makes it very delicious when eaten alternately with a burger. Since the bitter gourd is thick, the bitter gourd flavor spreads in your mouth the moment you eat it.

It’s funny that he has a hibiscus on the front of his head. We are the only adults wearing hibiscus in February. Thanks for the meal! It was even more delicious than I expected. It’s a little far from the main street, but I’d like everyone to try it. This burger is really delicious.

“Maxi Pudding” is a cold pudding specialty store that opened in April 2023 along Kokusai Dori.It ‘s easy to miss because it’s a small store, but if you look closely, you’ll notice that it looks like a refrigerator. Packed drinkable puddings are on sale. There are three flavors: Sanpin tea, Ryukyu coffee, and sugar cane.

Yumi really likes Sanpin tea. For a while, Sanpincha was served at Yumi’s house. It has a picture that looks like a yeti. Don’t drink. It looks like tofu. Ah, so good. It tastes like Sanpin tea. I really like this. This pudding has a very smooth texture. Sanpin tea is really delicious.

Wow, Sanpin tea! It’s Sanpin tea, but it’s pudding. Sanpin tea is similar to jasmine tea. It’s not a tea latte, but it feels like drinking a latte. The store is small and a little hard to find, but if you find it, please buy it. “New Q” on the main street.

This is a shop that serves sweets made with Okinawa’s specialty pineapple. We use Tida pine, which is made from pineapples grown in Ishigaki, which won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award. There is an eat-in space on the second floor, so you can sit down and eat slowly.

Premium New Q Tart 330 yen. It’s not candy. In the middle is a pate de fruit containing pineapple juice. It feels like hard jelly. The tart dough has a good buttery flavor and is delicious. There’s cream inside. White chocolate cream, nuts, and parte de fruit are sandwiched between the cookies.

You can feel the sourness of the pineapple amidst the sweetness, and although I thought the cream would be heavy, the sourness made it easy to eat. Yeah, delicious, delicious. Oh, there were nuts. There are macadamia nuts in the center. Looks like it would be a good souvenir.

The appearance and pattern are cute, so it is recommended as a souvenir. Pineapple is delicious. Pineapple is still delicious even if it’s processed. Are you saying that you don’t like Yumi’s processed strawberry foods? Processed strawberry products are not strawberries. Because that’s strawberry. It seems that when strawberries are processed, they become strawberries.

Thank you for the meal! There is an eat-in space, so please stop by for a break. Sata Andagi’s takeout specialty store “Nanusei” This is a new store that just opened in August 2023. Freshly fried sata andagi is served. Sata Andagi S (2 pieces) 350 yen.

I don’t think it was there yet when we visited Kokusai Dori a year ago. This is a shop next to the Okinawa soba shop “Mutsumibashi Kadoya” that I previously introduced in another video. delicious. The inside is moist. It’s slightly warm. This sata andagi is crispy on the outside and extremely delicious.

There are four flavors: plain, brown sugar, shikasa, and mugwort. My favorite is Sata Andagi. It doesn’t have a special taste, but when I saw it as a snack when I was a kid, I really enjoyed it. The texture is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

It’s wonderful that it doesn’t feel dry at all. This is really delicious. The Sata Andagi is very delicious, so please try purchasing it. Calbee directly managed shop “Calbee+”. There are some foods that can only be tasted at the Okinawa Kokusai Street store.

Since it is an antenna shop, there are many souvenirs lined up inside the store. Apparently there is food exclusive to this store. Limited edition items include purple sweet potato and brown sugar flavors. Potato churros brown sugar flavor 230 yen. It smells like brown sugar.

I thought churros tasted like brown sugar, but they actually taste like potatoes. What is brown sugar? I want to hear it. It smells like brown sugar, but when you eat it, it tastes like potato. Does it taste like brown sugar? I guess I don’t do it much.

So don’t they sprinkle brown sugar on the churros? I ate it thinking it would be churros, but this was different. It’s like a chewy potato shaped like a churro. What do you mean? No, it’s not a potato, but it’s sticky.

It feels like when you chew on it, it ends up turning into a potato. But the smell is brown sugar, right? Recognize. It smells like brown sugar. The flavor of brown sugar spreads for just a few seconds when you put it in your mouth, and then it tastes like potato. It tastes strange.

It brought out the Calbee feel. The last stop is Shioya, a salt specialty store that sells Okinawan salt and has a calm atmosphere, modeled after an old Okinawan house. There are many types of salt. There are approximately 140 types of salt, and you can sample all of them before purchasing.

At the store, you can enjoy their signature snow salt soft serve ice cream. Snow salt soft serve ice cream 350 yen. First of all, I will try eating it as is. Wow, it tastes like salt. A slightly sticky soft serve ice cream.

From here you can freely add 6 types of salt as toppings. There are 6 flavors: cocoa, Japanese plum, matcha, island spicy, Shikwasa, and hibiscus. I think I’ll try starting with Shimakara. It cost a lot. There was more salt than I expected. I don’t really get the taste of Shimakara.

I think it tastes a little saltier. So, why not try eating less ice cream? Yeah, it’s delicious. I don’t think it feels too spicy. Ah, I could feel a slight spiciness in the aftertaste. It feels just a little bit spicy. Next I will try eating it with cocoa salt.

Cocoa salt changes the taste quite a bit. At first, you can only feel the salty taste of the ice cream, but from the middle you can smell the cocoa flavor. The additional salt added later seems to have an effect on the aftertaste. Well then, I’ll eat the part covered with cocoa salt.

Adding cocoa salt changes the taste to something like tiramisu. It’s just salt, so be careful not to add too much. Please be especially careful if you have high blood pressure. I sprinkled all kinds of salt on it and enjoyed the different flavors. Our favorite flavor was the cocoa salt.

Thank you for the meal! It was fun to be able to enjoy different flavors in one soft serve ice cream. Thanks for the meal! How did you enjoy eating all 9 dishes? Po Tama was a shop I went to last time, but this is the first time I introduced the other shops.

How was the store this time? I had the impression that it was fun and there were many shops with interesting concepts. And all of the restaurants were delicious. We also introduced some little-known shops away from the main Kokusai Street, but they were all shops that we would definitely recommend everyone to visit.

I hope this information will be helpful to those who are planning to visit Kokusai Dori in the future. See you on your next trip! If you found this video helpful, please give it a high rating and subscribe to the channel. Thank you for watching until the end.
