China’s Fascinating Floating Village I S2, EP71

Good morning everyone Welcome back to the channel And welcome to the beautiful Hainan I am now in Xinzhen I just woke up. Now is 9 am and I am at the morning market It’s very close to the spring festival So there are a lot of Red lanterns and couplet

There are some pretty interesting things That are sold on the market That is the white sand from the beach That’s for the incense burner Grandma, what’s in it? Coconut, peanut and black sesame Coconut, peanut and black sesame How much is that? This.. for half 3 yuan for half

I’ll take half of it That’s their traditional old houses That’s pretty interesting The old traditional houses are quite small And very low Their couplet is also very interesting So besides the normal couplet And this top scroll there also also 2 men-shen (door deities) men-shen are deities that protect the family

And four Fu (means blessing) characters On the top There is a small shrine And this tradition is also very similar To that in Fujian This is said to be the best local breakfast Called Xiajie fried noodle Manager, apart from fried rice noodles What else is available? Fried wheat noodle… etc.

I am not so Hungary right now So I won’t order it But it looks pretty yummy squid small squid, big squid Obviously, fishing is an important industry In this village Oh, again more squid I can’t even tell one name Of all those sea food But look at this This is so huge

It looks like a turtle An octopus The buildings are so colorful, right? it’s very similar for example in malaysia In singapore This is because historically There are a lot of immigrates from Hainan To Southeast Asia countries And Hainan province Has 3rd largest chinese diaspora

After Fujian and Guangdong Province So those Chinese Who has been working overseas in Southeast Asia When they came back home They also brought the culture From those countries There are a lot of Southeast Asia influences In terms of architecture And also in terms of food

They even have a gas station for the boats 3 yuan for my boat ride this is so cool this morning when I flew the drone I saw some of them Are putting fish into their ponds So as far as I know The main fish they have is called The grouper

Because they can sell a good price The water is so clean That’s their houses Their houses are quite simple So it’s just some wooden planks Which are fastened together underneath is the plastic To keep the houses floating And for every house There is also a small boat

This area is surrounded by the peninsular And that’s why water in this area Is relatively peaceful and warm There are a lot of nutritions in the sea And that’s why they started sea farming And behind those boats Those squares are small ponds In which different fish are caged

I can even walk slowly in the sea Towards their house I can even see the fish underwater this landscape is very unique to Lingshui region it is made up of thousands And thousands of floating houses And boats and fish farm But Danjia people, this population Originally they came the coastal area

Of Guangdong and Fujian province E.g. from Quanzhou, Shunde and other cities They are Han people But they live on sea farming and fishing In the past Danjia people were not allow To live on land Which means they have no choice But leave on the sea

But now, they have their farm on the sea But they also have a house On land Manager do you have Qing-liang-bu? Qing-bu-liang Oh, Qing-bu-liang Is there? yes I want one 12 yuan. How much? 12 Manager, what is that white thing on top It’s ice cream. I see

Qing-bu-liang is the most popular in Hainan But in different region And also in different shop The ingredients are different There are so many different kinds of ingredients I guess the black one is Gui-ling-gao And there is a green curd taro Coconut curd Red dates Water melon Green beans, red beans

And also roasted peanut And ice cream, and finally And it’s the coconut milk This is a relatively light desert If you like it It’s not too sweet, and not too fatty This afternoon I will have a relatively easy ride From here to Xinglong Which is about 60km So firstly

I want to drive along the coast area There are some small villages And then slowly to Xinglong Town It’s not really near the coast And then tomorrow I am going to Wanning city And then the day afternoon I am going to fly back home For the spring festival

But I am also planning to come back After the spring festival Because I haven’t finish this circle yet And there is so much to see And so much to do in Hainan Those are some very beautiful houses Let’s get in Wow, those are very nice houses But I don’t think

Anyone is living here so far It’s all empty hello, do you want camping here? What? Camping? No, I don’t. I saw it’s empty So I want to have a look So you booked a hotel? No yet I will check it on my way And see what I can get

I am going to camp here Brother, where are you from? Liaoning So you plan to travel around the island I am on my way back to Haikou I see I hope you have a nice time camping bye It’s actually a good place for camping You can have the whole house

The houses are interesting They looks European Nobody is living here Let’s have house tour I am going to have house tour I guess it’s a Real estate project That hasn’t been sold yet It’s the bathroom This is the kitchen Let’s go to the 2nd floor

I just don’t bother to take my helmet off Because I will be leaving very soon This is the 2nd floor so spacious This is my hotel room for today It costs 82 yuan per night So as long as you avoid the most popular destinations The hotel cost in Hainan

Is actually not that high So this town is called Xinglong Town It’s a very famous Overseas Chinese hometown Many chinese people who made a living in many other countries Mainly in Southeast Asia countries Such as in Malaysia, in phillpine In indonesia And when they came back They brought the Nanyang flavor

So therefore There are a lot of good food with Nanyang flavor And I am going to see that tomorrow So that’s all for today I hope you enjoy my today’s video And If you like it Please give me a thumb up Thanks for watching And bye-bye

I am in Lingshui Area in southern Hainan. This aera is characterized by its south east Asian influence which came from Chinese people who remigrated back to Hainan especially. It’s characterized through its food, and architecture especially.
