Yuumi, which opened in 2015 and is located at Hota Station on the JR Uchibo Line, is also a hotel where you can enjoy an ocean view. “Sazane”, where we will be staying this time, is a hotel that opened in 2020. We go through the entrance
Yukata for men and women are available for free at the entrance. The lobby has a high ceiling and an open feel. Blue design inspired by the sea♪ In a semi-private room with a view of the sea, we will be guided around the hotel by the staff.
The staff offered us a fragrant tea blended with ginger, lemon, and elderflower. We can enjoy welcome sweets for free at the lounge that we will introduce later. Room 12, where we stayed this time, was the furthest room.
There is quite a distance from the guest room to the front lobby where the restaurant and lounge are located. The road is flat, but the distance is long so elderly people should be careful. Let’s take a look at the room The room we stayed in was an “executive” type.
The moment we walk in, it smells so good♪ The tea leaves are being smoked. A spacious entrance. It also has a handrail. Geta are available for use inside the facility. There were also fluffy slippers. The guest room is 89㎡ and quite spacious.
The executive room is the highest-ranking room with only one room available. The ceiling was high and there was an open feeling. We will first introduce the bed area The spacious twin beds were soft and fluffy. Hug pillows were provided
Alarm and light switch in the center of the bedside. It also has an outlet and a USB port. Outlets on both sides. There was an accessory holder and tissue paper. There is a Daikin air purifier next to the bed. There is a large sofa next to the bed. We relaxed here
The capacity of this room is 4 people. Sofa becomes bed There is a round table in the center A tablet on the table allowed us to check information about the building. Next is the minibar. There was a Caffitaly espresso machine and electric kettle. Inside the box are cups, glasses, etc.
Green tea and black tea in tea bags There were 4 coffee pods You can brew espresso or coffee at the touch of a button We drank coffee and relaxed in our room. There was free ice cream in the freezer. Haagen Dazs vanilla, strawberry

We were also able to watch YouTube on TV. Please subscribe to our channel! There is insect repellent spray under the TV. We forgot to take a picture, but there was a safe to the left. The key to the safe was attached to the room key.
Next is the washroom area. It’s next to the TV and in front of the bed. One DURAVIT sink. Hand soap and cups are provided There is a magnifying glass with a light, which is convenient. This is an amenity box Razor, toothbrush, hair tie, hair clip, body towel, cotton, cotton swab, hairbrush

There was a nice bathrobe after taking a bath♪ During our stay, we mostly wore Samue and relaxed. We also wore yukata which was available in the front lobby. There was also a bath wear (like a swimsuit) for women. You can wear this to take a bath.
When we opened the door next to the bed, it became a walk-in closet. Haori worn over Samue or Yukata There was also a cute basket bag. There were chairs and brushes. There is a restroom when you open the door at the entrance. It had a handrail.
Of course it comes with a washlet. There was also a deodorant spray. Next, we will introduce the bath area. When you open the door that doubles as a blindfold, the sound of waves echoes inside the room. A vast blue sea spreads out in front of you
The distance from the room to the sea is amazing! If you’re lucky, you can see Mt. Fuji across the sea. The opposite bank was cloudy and we couldn’t see it. Even if it’s sunny here, it’s difficult to see Mt. Fuji unless it’s also clear on the opposite bank.
All rooms have an open-air bath. The bath in this room was quite large even for two people. It is Awa Onsen. Natural alkaline simple spring, not much scent of hot springs You can see this view from the bathtub We had a blissful time♪
The bathtub has a tray like a mini table, which is convenient for enjoying drinks and ice cream. There is a sofa next to the bathtub where you can sit comfortably. You can have a view like this from the sofa. You can clearly see Misago Island.
There is an outlet, so you can relax while charging your smartphone. There were also electric blankets available for the cold season. This thing attached to the ceiling was a large insect repellent vape. There are chairs and tables next to the bathtub, perfect for cooling down your hot body.
There is a shower booth next to the sofa. There is a hook on the wall for hanging towels and bathrobes. The shower booth has enough space. The water pressure in the shower was strong and very good. The chair was tall and easy to use.
The shampoos are from Kanebo’s Kracie. There was also makeup remover from Kracie ZIRA. There was a clothes basket behind the shower and a net to rescue bugs that fell into the bathtub. The problem is that the bath is too close to the sea. We saw many people walking and fishing nearby.
At dusk, guests went out to the beach to watch the sunset. All rooms are on the first floor, but they are located on a hill. It is said that bath were that can be worn while entering the bathtub were introduced at the request of guests.
Also, when the door is closed, the bottom half is frosted glass that cannot be seen from the outside. We came to the lounge because we had time until dinner. A place with a luxurious atmosphere Pictures are displayed on the walls. 相思相愛 by Naoaki Sakamoto 恋情 by Naoaki Sakamoto

We ate sweets in a stylish atmosphere. You can step out onto the terrace from the lounge You can be blown by the sea breeze and have a relaxing time Blankets are also available You can also go out to sea from the passageway on the way back to your room
The appeal of this hotel is that it is really close to the sea, with no roads in between. We had a great view of the sunset from our room We relax and watch the sunset while drinking beer.
When we stayed at the nearby Kinokuniya the other day, we were able to see Mt. Fuji from this coast. If you are lucky, you can see the sunset and Mt. Fuji at the same time on this coast You can see the sunset from all rooms in Sazane.
It’s great to be able to share the beautiful scenery with your loved ones. It’s dinner time! We headed to the dining room next to the front lobby. Private room overlooking the sea, the view from here was also wonderful. Enjoy creative cuisine that takes advantage of the bounty of the Boso sea.
We each received a glass of sparkling wine (non-alcoholic also available). Extensive drink menu Colorful appetizers available Each portion was arranged differently for two people. It was our first time to eat a fish called “Enzara” and it was delicious. Freeco potatoes are eaten with salted fish. very delicious!
There was also tofu made with peanuts, a specialty of Chiba. Next, abalone appeared alive. Each person received one abalone. The staff grilled the abalone, and we sprinkled it with lemon and ate it deliciously. This time we chose a plan that included a spiny lobster sashimi. It was large, sweet and delicious.
Next is Chiba’s fresh seafood. The fish called “Oonibe” was fatty and delicious. We ate it with homemade Tosa soy sauce, homemade white ponzu sauce, and salt. We had a fragrant soup made with fresh onions. The boiled Japanese black beef is soft and delicious♪
The grilled food was delicious, not only with sweet sea bream but also with bamboo shoots. The end of the meal menu was clams in ochazuke. A good seasonal menu. We ate it smoothly. Dessert was an assortment of 3 types. The shiruko of the plump warabi mochi was especially delicious.
We were able to choose our drinks from coffee, black tea, and roasted green tea. Overall, the volume was moderate and it was just right for us. Next, we will introduce the night lounge At night, the atmosphere is even more luxurious and mature. Alcoholic drinks will be served after 8pm
Drinks are all you can drink♪ There is a variety of alcoholic beverages. Monin Lemon Syrup, Meyers Rum, Jack Daniel’s, Teppatsu Jumankame, Bombay Sapphire, and more. Kirin’s draft beer, sour, whiskey, carbonated water, etc. were available. We immediately drank draft beer. Drinking draft beer in a lounge with a calm atmosphere is great!
A late night snack is also available after 9pm. Ham cutlet sandwich on this day Nuts were perfect as snacks for alcoholic drinks A large piece of inari sushi was also provided. Since dinner was a moderate amount, we were able to eat plenty of night snacks as well.
The other day, when we stayed at its sister hotel, Kinokuniya Ryokan “Hanare Tsubaki”, We were able to use the Sazane Night Lounge as a stay privilege. The inn is located about 5 minutes walk from this hotel. The exterior of the hotel is illuminated The quiet sound of waves echoes in the pitch-black sea
After this, we enjoyed the hot spring in our room and went to sleep. We woke up just after 6 the next morning. It gradually becomes brighter The rooms face west so you can see the sunset, but the sun rises on the opposite side.
The other day when we stayed at the sister hotel Kinokuniya , we could see the sunrise on the mountain side. You can see this kind of scenery within a 5-minute walk from Sazane. Before breakfast we take a walk on the beach We saw several people fishing in the morning.
We could clearly see the big hole in the floating island. A moment to forget about everyday life while listening to the sound of waves Birds seemed to be having their morning meeting near our room. It’s breakfast time! we came to the same dining room as yesterday
Enjoy pumpkin and paprika smoothies, homemade yogurt, and dried fruits. The view from the dining room is beautiful today. The staff shaved cheese onto the salad.Very efficient! Contains plenty of thick cheese With a tomato-based dressing, we enjoyed the salad deliciously Orange juice was also provided. Next, many side dishes were brought out.
Bacon, mentaiko, seaweed and fried egg Soaked mushrooms, Ganmodoki, Mozuku vinegar Natto, Kinpira burdock, pickles. Side dishes that accompany rice are lined up For rice, Nagasa rice from Chiba is cooked in a pot. The staff served the rice. We ate freshly cooked rice and various side dishes.
Miso soup with spiny lobster is rich in the aroma of the ocean♪ The chawanmushi was ginger-based and warmed our bodies. The dried horse mackerel had plenty of fat. Dessert is apple compote. Serve with jelly We could choose our drinks from coffee, black tea, and hojicha. After breakfast, we went to the lounge.
Free pineapple juice was available during this time. A morning paper was also available. After this, we spent a lot of time relaxing in the hot spring in our room. Check-out payments can be made at the front desk or at the dining room after breakfast.
What’s more, you can complete the checkout process at your guest room door when you call the front desk. In addition to Awa-Katsuyama Station, you can also request transportation to Highway Oasis “Furari”. You can take express buses from there to Chiba Station, Haneda Airport, Yokohama, etc.
Highway Oasis “Furari” just reopened in July 2023 and was beautiful. You can buy Chiba specialties, seafood, etc. there. We would like to introduce a comparison with the sister restaurant Kinokuniya Ryokan “Hanare Tsubaki” where we stayed the other day.
Next, we will introduce the climb up Mt. Nogiri that we did before checking in to “Sazane”. We arrived at JR Uchibo Line Hamakanaya Station on the limited express train “Shinjuku Sazanami”. There is a vending machine in front of the station where you can pay with your transportation IC card.
When we exited the ticket gate, there were several signboards with climbing information. There is a luggage storage service at the Kurokawa Fishing Gear Store in front of the station. We finished using the restroom and started walking towards the trailhead. We felt safe because there were signs everywhere.
It’s about a 10 minute walk from the station. We were blessed with good weather on this day. On our way, we crossed the Kanaya River. We turned left at the butcher shop and went further inside. Along the way, we saw climbers of all ages. We walked through a residential area
As we passed the torii gate of the shrine We passed under the Uchibo Line overpass that soon came into view. Just follow the railway and our destination will be right there. We arrived at the trailhead we used this time. There are two main routes to walk up Mt. Nokogiri.
Continuing to the side of the stairs is the “Shariki-michi” where the “Boshu stone” cut from Mt. Nokogiri was carried down to the foot of the mountain. Going up the stairs is the “Kanto Fureai no Michi” We went up from the Kanto Fureai-no-michi. Now let’s start climbing Mt. Nokogiri!
This first stair has about 400 steps! From the beginning, the stairs took away our stamina. The stairs never end… We almost broke down several times along the way. . Our heart beats faster and faster After about 5 minutes of climbing, we could see the end of the stairs.
Break through the first step! we took a rest on the bench From here, the real mountain climbing route begins. We climbed in the same climbing shoes we had previously used when climbing Yakushima. We recommend wearing mountain climbing shoes or comfortable sports shoes.
Continuing along the road, we came to an observation area called Kangetsu-dai. We were healed by the view of Tokyo Bay and the beautiful cityscape♪ As soon as we descended the stairs from the viewing platform There is a restroom We climbed towards the top of the mountain
There was also an area separated by chains, so we proceeded with caution. Mt.Nokogiri is a low mountain with an altitude of about 330m. It has long been known as a production area for high-quality “Boshu stone”.
From the Edo period(about 1600AD) until 1985, it was cut as a material for construction and civil engineering work. It came to be called “Nokogiri-yama” (Saw Mountain)because of the jagged silhouette created by quarrying the stone. As we continued along the road, we came to “Toi michi Ato” It’s a place with a nice atmosphere
It is said that stones cut from a stone quarry at the summit area were lowered down the mountainside by sliding down a stone slide. It is said that stones cut from a stone quarry at the summit area were lowered down the mountainside by sliding down a stone slide.
The scenery along the way becomes more and more beautiful. We never imagined that we could see such a view in this place so close to Tokyo. It was a fascinating journey, hard to believe that it was a low mountain with an altitude of 330m. We arrived at “Junction C” which was our destination.
Here, the route is divided into the route to the summit and the Nihonji Temple area, which has many attractions such as “Hell Peek Point”. We were running out of time to reach the top of the mountain. We headed towards the stone quarry ruins in the foreground.
The rock wall that has been dug since the Edo period(about 1600AD) is revealed. This is the place directly below the observation deck where we will go to “Hell Peek Point” later. We follow the sign to the quarry ruins.
We have arrived at the stone quarry ruins, one of the spots you should definitely visit when you come to Mt.Nokogiri. We have arrived at the stone quarry ruins, one of the spots you should definitely visit when you come to Mt.Nokogiri. There is a world like “Laputa: Castle in the Sky”
We were overwhelmed by the power of the huge rock wall. The road ahead looks like ruins The machines used to cut stone were left behind. It is said that stone cutting has been carried out at this location for approximately 200 years. The words “Safety First” are carved into the rock surface.
The road continues a little further ahead. This was an observation deck Kannon Cave, which is right next to the quarry, is also recommended. We can’t imagine that they were carving such a large rock. There is a small Kannon statue carved into the rock (We couldn’t find it…)
We didn’t have time to go to the top of the mountain, so we returned to junction C and headed to our next destination. It’s going to be a pretty rough road We arrived at the popular spot “Laputa Wall” A wonderful sight reminiscent of the walls of Laputa
The view from this observation deck is also amazing! You can see the beautiful castle wall-like scenery up close We were stunned by the impressive scenery. We headed towards Nihonji Temple. The entrance to the Japanese temple was located in an impressive rocky area.
We paid the admission fee at the reception desk at the North Exit Management Office and enter. Please note that you can only pay by cash The giant 100-shaku(about 30m) Kannon sculpture was completed in 1966 as a memorial service for the World War victims of war, disease, and traffic victims.
It is revered as the principal image that protects the safety of navigation, aviation, and land transportation. We took a nice rocky path to the main tourist spot. We headed to the area where Mt.Nogiri’s main spot “Hell Peek Point” is located.
If you come by ropeway, you can come right to this place where the road crosses with Hyakushaku Kannon. However, you will have to climb up the hard stairs from here, so you need to be prepared.
There are three main observation decks in the area we go up to. The first one is this observation deck which is relatively empty. In front of each observation deck is a slippery rocky area. The main thing you can see from this observation deck is the road.
There is a second observation deck behind the first one. It is located in the center of the area. Although it was a little far from the cliff, we were able to see a 360° view. And the third is the main “Hell Peek Point”. There was a line of tourists waiting to take pictures.
We only had to wait for about 15 minutes this time, but it can get very crowded during long holidays. We lined up and arrived at the “Hell Peek Point” The scenery seems to suck us in! We were able to enjoy the magnificent scenery
Be sure to visit this scenic spot that can be reached within a few hours from Tokyo. We used the ropeway to descend the mountain. Flights will be canceled on days with strong winds, so we recommend checking in advance. There are many photo spots at the ropeway summit station as well.
The mailbox made of Boshu stone is so cute! You can actually use it for mail♪ We went to a restaurant at Sancho Station to taste “Hell food” “Hell food” Part 1 is this ice cream It was a milk ice cream with bamboo charcoal in it, but it was delicious.
Be careful as your teeth will turn black! There is a delicious-looking dango shop in front of the ropeway platform. We bought “Hell food” Part 2 here. “Jigoku-man” is a pitch-black Chinese bun. There’s monja inside, and it was unexpectedly delicious♪ The Nokogiriyama Museum is attached to the restaurant mentioned earlier.
This is a spot where you can learn about the history of quarrying for free. We bought ropeway tickets at the counter. If you use it round-trip, the fare will be cheaper.
The ropeway usually runs once every 15 minutes, but it was a little crowded on this day, so we took a special flight and headed down the mountain. We were able to see the beautiful scenery of Boso The gondola has two colors, red and yellow, and is manufactured by Swiss company CWA.
It is entirely glass so you can enjoy the scenery. You can take the ropeway and arrive at Sanroku Station about 4 minutes. We had a hard time climbing the mountain, but it was an easy 4 minute return trip. The station came into view for us.
It was a Saturday in late March, the parking lot was crowded. In no time, the ropeway arrived at Nokogiriyama Sanroku Station. The ropeway seen from below is also cool! Although it is a low mountain, if you are not comfortable climbing, please try using the ropeway.
It was about a 10 minute walk from the ropeway station to the nearest station, Hamakanaya Station. For reference, here is our turnaround time
10:00 Depart from Hamakanaya Station on the JR Uchibo Line 10:10 Arrive at the trailhead and start climbing from Kanto Fureai no Michi 10:16 Finish climbing the first 400 stairs 10:29 Passing the area with restrooms 10:48 Toi Mchi Ato(Gutter ruins) 10:58 Arrive at junction C 11:13 Stone quarry ruins 11:30 Kannon Cave 11:48 Wall of Laputa 11:53 Arrive at Nihonji Temple 11:56 Hyakushaku Kannon 12:07 Wait in line to peek into hell 12:21 Peek into hell 12:46 Restaurant at Nokogiriyama Sancho Station (ropeway) 13:27 Descend by ropeway from Nokogiriyama Sancho Station 13:33 Arrive at Nokogiriyama Sanroku Station 13:45 Arrive at JR Uchibo Line Hamakanaya Station
