From here, you can take a boat, ropeway, or train to head to Tokyo. The first thing you’ll get on is the Hakone Pirate Ship.
This is a boat that tours Lake Ashi located on the top of the mountain in Hakone. Since the ship is for sightseeing, the atmosphere on board is nice. It takes only 5 minutes from Hakone-machi Port to Moto-Hakone Port.
The area between Hakone-machi Port and Moto-Hakone Port is a popular area for sightseeing, so it’s convenient to use either one. There are many tourist hotels in the Hakone town area as well. Amphibious bus. And a pirate ship heading in the opposite direction. The pirate ship has arrived at Togendai Port.
There are many tourist hotels here in Togendai as well. From Togendai, transfer to the ropeway. departure. We will soon arrive at Ubako. This time we will not get off here and will head towards Owakudani. Arrived at Owakudani Station. Owakudani is an explosion crater where Kamiyama caused a phreatic explosion.
It is one of Hakone’s most famous viewing spots, where fumaroles still rise. Have some lunch here. Enjoy the famous Owakudani curry. Continue on to the ropeway. The ropeway will soon arrive at Sounzan Station. Next, take the cable car from Sounzan Station. I was able to sit in the front row.
There are four stations along the way. The first station is Kamigora Station. The next station is Nakagora Station. Next is Koenkami Station. This is Koen-shita Station, the last stop on the way. We arrived at Gora Station, the transfer station for the Hakone Tozan Train. From here on, it’s a regular train.
Although the train I rode this time was different, there is also a train with a Rhaetian Railway motif running. The train departs from Gora Station. The Hakone Tozan Railway has switchbacks along the way to climb and descend steep slopes. There are three switchbacks along the way. Do the switchback again.
You can see that the height of the track is completely different before and after the switchback. When you exit this tunnel, you will cross the Neyama iron bridge. You will soon arrive at Hakone Yumoto Station. Hakone Yumoto is a hot spring town located at the foot of the mountains of Hakone.
