Experience Riding 283 KMPH on Japan’s Shinkansen BULLET TRAIN
Previously on WeWanderlustCo we took the best day trip to Fuji Kawaguchiko where we got up close and personal with Mount Fuji we rented bikes to explore the area and find all the best Mount Fuji views and admire what was now left of the fall leaves in
Today’s video we finally get our JR passes activated taking in some more Momijigari at a beautiful Avenue in Tokyo and explore Shimokitazawa an area which is filled with retro and vintage fined and the best part of today is we’re taking the Shinkansen or
Bullet train for the first time out of Tokyo let’s just say we love trains more than planes now we’re here at Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue it’s a beautiful Street lined with so many beautiful ginkgo trees and this possibly maybe the last year it’s here we’re not sure but we’re here
Enjoying the beautiful colors yeah so it’s it’s a long street that’s just lined up with Ginkgo trees and it’s all shedding color or like changing color all at once yeah so the whole street is just lined up yellow they got a whole nice amount of crowd over here trying
To take in the last few possibly days of the leaves being on and then yeah it’s going to it’s going to be all barren after this so but amazing right have you experienced anything like this?
No I have never and Autumn is like the perfect time to come and if you guys are around in Japan or in Tokyo this is the place to be don’t forget this if it lasts, if it lasts amazing
Right yeah yeah so pretty and uh there’s a cute dog that came for the Momijigari as well star of the street [Music] yeah [Music] next up we’re going to go do some vintage shopping here at Shimokitazawa it’s
Really popular among vintage lovers and thrifters so let’s hope I find my jacket thrifted here for cheaper than you know yeah fingers crossed before we headed to some of the colder regions I had to
Get at least a warm coat but if you know me I like a good Thrift so here we are also did I mention these stores have some of the funkiest music playing in the background what I was saying
Here is that there are two stores called stick out stick out 3 and stick out come to this one which is called stick out for everything selling for 800 Yen which is around $5 they have a
Variety from branded to non-branded and expect to spend an hour here for some amazing finds I left Shimokitazawa happy because I finally had a nice big coat to keep me warm but now it was time for us to go to Waseem’s favorite place Yodabashi. Yodabashi along with Bic Camera are Japanese
Retail chains that sells electronics cameras and photo equipment and the best part about these stores is that you get to try before you buy we totally love this concept and we’re here for it we feel like we’re in Camera Electronics heaven right now Candy Camera Candy land cuz
Uh basically any camera you could imagine is on display to uh yeah you could kind of play around with the camera check it out feel it you’re on camera because this let’s get up in her pores guys [laughter] hello from a really busy station here at Ikebukuro station and today we’re taking
A really special train and that’s going to be the Shinkansen yeah the bullet train so yeah we’re trying to figure our way over to one of the main um train stations that it departs from which is Shinagawa station so yeah making our way over there and we are going
To be visiting Shizuoka yeah and hopefully we get beautiful views of Fujisan there as well and yeah so hopefully we give you a tour of the Shinkansen this time around we didn’t get a chance yeah it was short-lived yeah exactly yeah were running late let’s go
[Music] Now we’re here at the Shinagawa station it looks so big like wide no nice and wide cuz there’s a lot of uh connecting lines here yeah and this is how you get to the other regions of of Japan. Whos excited? me I’m more excited
For food. We’ve had a long day more on that maybe from inside the Shinkansen There she goes! [Laughter] It’s so nice that they have a big vending machine full of ice cream and coffee yeah two wonderful things that’ll help with the journey. Yeah exactly look at all the flavors there’s vanilla there’s high quality strawberry everything’s high quality
Guys. Oh Belgian Chocolate oh wow. the good thing about it is they take maybe Suica yeah Credit Card yeah I don’t know guys uh this Baskin Robbin and JR it’s a collaboration is looking really good yeah there’s popping shower I dont know what that is that looks pretty
Good cotton candy I really like the very berry strawberry I don’t know it’s 350 yen. Its not bad at all. we might Ponder on this but also wanted to show you guys they do also have coffee hot coffees medium roast anybody big cup pretty hot too
Boy oh boy the boarding time and the transition it’s just as fast as the bullet train. It did not wait. It arrived the doors opened we got in within 30 seconds the train was moving and the thing is when you know when
Trains move or when planes move you lose your footing. not at all yeah like we did not lose our footing at all it just kind of slowly took off and uh now we’re possibly going really fast. I have no idea. but uh everything so comfortable. Nice and spacious. Yeah its really spacious.
We are in like a 3 seat thing. I wish we were in the 2 seat configuration. It’s fine. Theres one other person next to us whos got the window seat. I wish I had the window seat.
We’re going to be taking the Shinkansen for the next 21 days all over Japan so hopefully, we’ll have more. Well kind of give you guys a quick tour of our little space area little space I am already
Ready to snack. Oh this is what we got. Did you show them? yeah yeah yeah it’s nice and hot too. let’s start with the really nice and comfortable seats I think they can go recline or something
But um I want to talk about the leg space it’s like a lot of room I’ve never experienced this type of leg space in a bus a plane or even a train like the other trains but it’s really
Nice and spacious. we have tabletops that you can pull out and have your meals. it’s just like in flight. It’s pretty cool. and we got to put all of our luggage thank goodness all of our luggage was within the uh oversized luggage limit so it was like under that so we’re
Able to put all of our luggage on top that’s pretty cool and yeah I’m hungry let’s go eat I can’t, I cant if you’re ever wondering what I’m always carrying in my little tote bag it’s usually a lot of snacks and that’s our breakfast that she’s carrying. It’s almost 4:00 yeah so what should have been eaten in the morning uh yeah Japanese Hotel checkout times are fairly early which is at
10:00. It’s a pet peeve of mine yeah check-ins are sometimes like 2:00 p.m. sometimes 3 and sometimes we’ve even seen places go up to 4 or 5pm but checkout definitely must be between 9 and 10
So yeah we barely got any time to uh have any of our breakfast so yeah we’re carrying all of that in Shafeen’s little tote bag which we got from Uniqlo if you guys have not watched that video
Cuz we got it branded. Came out really nice. All for $16 bucks guys. It was an awesome deal. Yay! I feel like I’m really proud of this instead of wearing someone else’s brand we have our own so I feel proud and feel happy about it uh
Also, story time let’s eat first then we’ll tell you guys what happened earlier today 282 km per hour 283 282 That is so awesome this is all a blur. So the Shinkansen might be fast but the Internet is on the other spectrum but it’s okay it’s not like we’re going to do work yeah at least you have Internet right yeah at
0.38 um there’s a lot of people on board too that too so yeah so just expect to relax eat yeah maybe enjoy some quick views oh and we just saw Fujisan to our right hiding behind the mountains so I guess if you are coming from Tokyo to Shizuoka, try to book the seats on
The right side yes uh the Double seats on the right side just so you can get nice views unobstructed views of Mount Fuji yeah still nice. one of the things guys in Japan is uh there’s not that many trash cans around even at train stations sometimes they
Only have PET recycle bottles only and not actual trash uh so I do see a trash icon on the train so might just take you guys along for a little walk so why not give you guys a little
Glimpse of the Train and the restroom. Let’s see. I myself don’t know what it looks like Alright guys quick tour of the restroom pretty spacious it’s a multi-purpose room they also have a, I would say a half-bath restroom only, we’re moving cuz we were stopped at
The station but I didn’t feel anything I could only feel just the vibration of us going through a tunnel that’s about it. So they have the Basin everything’s touched operated A place to change napkins and all of that have a restroom style toilet you can put your baby over there and
Then yeah this is all you have all the space that you get which is super nice I think that’s Mount Fuji covered by the clouds So we left at 3:34 we arrived in Shizuoka at 4:49 it was a beautiful experience get to see Mt. Fuji on the right-hand side, sun setting really comfortable ride I would say mix comfortability with speed I feel like that’s like the perfect combo yeah it was
Just super smooth ride so yeah if you guys get a chance even for a day one trip you have to try out the bullet train in Japan yeah and actually this is not even the fastest one I
Believe the fastest one is the one that takes you up north to Hokkaido which is the green one I’ll fact-check that for you guys still we were blazing fast at what 283 yeah km per hour yeah like
176-179mph yeah imagine being in a car like 179 miles per hour oh my goodness you don’t want to do that nope yeah now we have to walk 11 minutes to our accommodation which is not bad one thing I would say the pavements in Japan are pretty smooth it’s easy to roll your
Suitcases on smooth and clean We’ve damaged a few wheels on our on this entire trip this year [Shinkansen passing by] [laughter] holy moly wow that’s like the express Express which is the Nozomi or the Mizuho which you
Don’t get with the JR pass because it skips many stations you can book it separately yeah you could pay a little bit of a fee and kind of skip those station but it’s actually amazing to see it
Guys just kind of stop over at the stations once you get off you see them zooming past in the fast tracks so mesmerized it was so fast yeah I was like what is this like and you could just
Hear the rumbling the thunder Yeah oh my goodness can we wait for another one I guess so all right! oh my goodness put it down at least we have finally made it to our accommodation after dragging our bags yes uh overall the day was fine it was really fast
Beginning from point to point just minus the whole bag situation and actually you booked this place really last minute right yeah like um on the train yeah it was like an hour before we reached here so thank you you’re welcome I mean
I’m glad like we just found a place because earlier we didn’t tell you we actually wanted to extend two more days in Tokyo but when Waseem went down to ask if we could extend they said that all the rooms are booked that we’re going to have to leave yeah so we quickly
Packed up and before 10:00 a.m. we were out of there and then we went and sat down um by our McDonald’s it’s a little park and we were looking for hotels for the longest time because as you
May know already that I like to make sure that we are under our budget it doesn’t work out that way and of course Japan as everyone knows is super expensive but we’re trying our best right well
Finally uh we randomly decided we were supposed to go to Kyoto today yeah but we randomly decided that we were going to go to Shizuoka instead because it is a holiday and everyone is like traveling and everything is booked and things are really expensive so Japan is known and probably
Every other country where there’s holidays yes the locals are traveling actually Shizuoka is actually on our way to Kyoto yeah so it worked out uh we basically cut the time in half if we were to
Travel straight from Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka so yeah Shizuoka happens to be in the middle uh Mt. Fuji is right close by yes so we’re planning on exploring that or or just exploring the town to
The point where Mount Fuji is visible yes it’s going to be a full day of exploring tomorrow but right now we’re just going to catch up on some work freshen up maybe go get some dinner somewhere we’re going to go ahead and try to see what’s nearby or just have the croquette
From 7-Eleven that we meant for breakfast so we’ll see Konbinis’ have been our best friend yeah yeah like yeah and then vending machines everywhere there’s like vending machines in the hotel right now if not there’s a vending machine right around the corner and there’s another
Vending machine right around the other corner anyway thank you guys so much for coming along with us today we hope you enjoyed the bullet ride with us it was it was so incredible I think we’re just so like in awe yes being in it again right there’s something about being
In it and for it to be super quiet and there this other experience of when you’re standing still and this thing is just blasting right past you rumbling the whole station is just oh my goodness yeah it commands your attention yeah it does well so yeah uh thank you guys so
Much for coming along with us today if you enjoyed the video please make sure to give it a like yeah and don’t forget to subscribe that’ll mean the world to us and there’s more Japan content coming from us so yeah stay tuned but as always remember wherever you go don’t
Forget to wander we’ll catch you guys in the next video and thats going to be from Japan this is a rotating disc mechanism seen it in buses uh where they kind of help it uh change direction quickly so you don’t have to make a big turn you just possibly park straight
The disc turns into the garage and you just go straight into the garage that is so cool that is so cool what’s the first thing that you notice coming out that it is super quiet it is 9:00 p.m. making
A konbini run yes it’s a pretty quiet town yeah Japan itself is pretty quiet even in the middle of Ginza Tokyo the hustle and bustle still theres silence at some points but it’s like really it’s peaceful in a city where are the cars yeah where are
The bikes where are the people we’ve been loving the quietness of Japan it’s very different yeah I would say this is possibly the quietest society that we’ve possibly come across uh I kind of forgot how it felt like back in 2019 because we were smack dab
In the middle of Tokyo but uh just uh very refreshing it’s very refreshing it’s very uh grounding even the buses are quiet everything has a quiet nature to it yeah oh 7eleven yeah and it’s
Funny we decided to make a 7-Eleven run as soon as we get out the hotel 7-Eleven is within sight yeah its 177 feet but the thing about Japan is you feel safe walking the streets at night yeah so yeah
Oh that’s cool that its counting down is it yeah the dots yeah the dots show that it’s almost time Next on WeWanderlustCo
