La ciudad de demonios – Visitemos HOKKAIDO – Parte 2 #Japón #hokkaidojapan #Japón #turismoenjapon
Hello friends, welcome to my channel HOLA NIHON. My name is Lidia, I am a Mexican living in Japan and I already have another video from this beautiful country. I appreciate you watching my videos and I hope you enjoy them.
By the way, don’t forget to subscribe to my channel HELLO NIHON for more content about Japan. This is the second part of a series that will show some areas of Hokkaido in Japan. So, LET’S START!!! In the first part of this series we travel from Tokyo to the city of Sapporo.
From there, we went to try the local food in the city of Tomakomai, and then, we drove towards Noboribetsu. Upon arriving in this city we begin the walk visiting a bear park. And well, here we are. Let’s continue exploring the city of Noboribetsu.
It is actually a very small city, it is located in the Iburi prefecture in Hokkaido. And it is mainly known for its hot springs, its volcanic landscapes and its culture. In fact, at this moment we are on the main street of the tourist area.
Which by the way has several interesting details and as you can see. It has an oni theme, that is, ogres. Or rather, Japanese mythological creatures. This theme exists precisely because of the volcanic landscapes in the city.
Specifically, they consider a place named after Jigokudani, which in Spanish can be translated as “Valley of Hell.” So it is the ideal environment for the Oni. Speaking of them, according to legend, it is believed that they were the first inhabitants of NOBORIBETSU.
It is said that they lived in Jigokudani and used the hot springs to heal their wounds and gain strength. One day a group of humans arrived at Noboribetsu and were attacked by the oni. The demons were defeated and had to flee to the mountains.
Nowadays and despite the legend, the oni are considered protectors of Noboribetsu so images of them can be found throughout the city, even on souvenirs and lucky amulets. They are so important to the city that there is even a festival that celebrates them.
It is known as yukijin and people take the opportunity to dress up as oni, in addition to participating in parades and dances. Look, here are some photos that show a little about this interesting festival. Honestly, oni are some of my favorite characters in Japanese mythology so I’m excited to see them everywhere.
Lucky!!! We just found a flesh and blood oni. In the city, in addition to the oni, there are also other interesting details. For example, here we have the Statue of Enma Daiou, that is, the king of the Buddhist underworld.
It was built in 1989 and is currently a popular tourist attraction and is considered a symbol of karma. It is believed that those who have committed bad deeds in life will be judged by Enma Daiou,
And sent to hell, meaning the statue is a reminder of the importance of living a moral and ethical life. Well, finally we have reached the Jigokudani area, that is, the Valley of Hell. He welcomes us with a large oni statue. As a curious fact, these demons
Are described as humanoid creatures that can have red or blue skin. They have sharp fangs, horns and claws. In addition, they wear tiger skin loincloths and carry iron clubs. But hey, let’s continue on our way to Hell Valley.
As I told you, it is an active volcanic area famous for its smoking vents and sulfurous streams. That is, it offers a unique experience since it is a place that allows tourists to see it up close. Here it really is impressive.
Some interesting points of Jigokudani are that there are volcanic craters with fumaroles that release steam at high altitudes. In addition, due to the minerals, the rivers and hot spring pools have vibrant colors such as green, yellow and orange. Although for the same reason, there is an intense sulfur smell.
Curiously, there is also diverse vegetation, that is, conifers and plants that have adapted to the volcanic conditions. The best thing about the place is that there are trails that take you on a tour of the entire volcanic area. We were walking there and it looks very far from this point.
We reached one of the famous points, the heart of Jigokudani. Here is a crater with water known as Oyunuma. But let’s start with the small crater which is equally impressive, especially for its turquoise blue color. We go to the main crater.
By the way, it has an approximate diameter of 50 m and 20 m deep. As expected, the temperature is high, between 50 and 80 degrees Celsius. It is said that this crater was formed as a result of volcanic activity thousands of years ago.
The hot lava melted the snow and ice creating a cauldron that filled with mineral water. Well, goodbye Oyunuma crater!! Look we arrived at an area that has an open-air onsen, in fact, it is a famous place in Jigokudani as it allows people to sit and soak their feet in the relaxing mineral waters.
I was thinking about putting my feet in but there were a lot of people, I got lazy and decided to leave it for another time. It’s time to say goodbye to Jigokudani and return to the car. We now have to head to the next destination of the trip.
But what do you think of this place? Would you like to visit Jigokudani? I really think it is a must-see destination. especially for nature lovers. In addition, its unique landscape makes it an unforgettable experience. See you later Jigokudani, bear park, oni creatures and in general,
It was a pleasure to visit the city of Noboribetsu. In the first part of this series, when we were in the Noboribetsu bear park. We went to the local viewpoint and from there we could see one of the famous points in the area.
I mean, we saw Kuttara Lake. Taking advantage of the fact that we are very close and that I am curious, we go to this place. This lake is peculiar because it was created by volcanic activity thousands of years ago.
In addition, it is recognized for the clarity of its water. It is said to be one of the most transparent in Japan. There is supposedly an underwater visibility of up to 19 m. This is thought to be due to the absence of rivers flowing into or from the lake, which minimizes sediment input.
But that’s not all, Kuttara Lake is a popular destination for canoeing. Especially for those looking for a quiet and secluded experience. Obviously it depends on the season because in winter the lake partially freezes and becomes a popular place for ice fishing. Well, we arrived at this rest point and
Decided to park the car to calmly admire the panorama. I’m going to be honest with you, everything was very beautiful but I was a little nervous because it is an area that is also very visited by brown bears. In fact, there are signs
That ask you to walk carefully, so after a few minutes we decided to continue on the path. We go to our next stop, From Kuttara Lake we have to drive approximately 37 km to reach Muroran city. That’s where our hotel is located.
Although the journey seems a bit far, it will actually only take approximately 50 minutes to get there. The road to that destination is quite quiet because along the route you can only see forests, mountains and the ocean. Although, occasionally there are also several small cities and towns.
Finally we arrived at the hotel. In this city there really aren’t many options to stay and this was our choice but it did a good job of allowing us to rest and even included breakfast
. After dropping things off and freshening up a little, we decided to go out and find a restaurant to eat dinner. . The Hokkaido area is famous for its fish and seafood so we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to try everything.
At first we didn’t find many options, but after walking for a while. Finally we arrived at this restaurant. It seemed like a good atmosphere so we decided to go in. To start, I ordered a beer. After a long day of sightseeing it tasted delicious.
As I have already mentioned in other videos, in this type of restaurants it is common to receive otsumami, that is, appetizers. In this case they were portions of vegetables and seafood. As a first course we ordered a sashimi set. It included hokkigai, chutoro, kampachi and salmon. Well let’s get started, itadakimasu!!!
I like to make a mixture of soy sauce with Wasabi. And then dip the pieces of fish in it, they taste extra delicious. A dish known as Ankimo arrived. It’s basically liver from a fish called Anko.
It is a fish that has a very peculiar appearance and is found in the depths of the ocean. You can Google it but I warn you that it is a bit ugly and perhaps it will surprise you. But regardless of that appearance, ankimo is really delicious.
I also like to dip it in soy sauce. It’s the turn of the sansai tempura. They are fried wild vegetables that have unique flavors, that is, they can be bitter or earthy. To eat the tempura, I like to add
A little daikon and ginger to the ponzu sauce, they give it a very rich flavor!! Since I was here, I decided to order some nihonshu, that is, sake. It goes very well with this type of food. Next, we have a dish known as awabi. Basically it is a type
Of sea snail, also known as abalone, and is considered a delicacy in Japanese lands. Although you can eat it in sashimi or ushi, we decided to order it stir-fried and it really was an excellent option. Since we were still very hungry, we ordered some buta no kakuni.
It is a dish that is prepared with braised pork belly until it is tender and juicy. As you can see the consistency is very smooth. Definitely one of my favorite dishes tonight. And well, to finish we ordered an ebi chili. Those squares that are like topping
Are actually burnt rice. In Japanese it is known as okoge, it goes very well with spicy tomato sauce. Gochizousamadeshita. Thanks for the food!!! This restaurant exceeded my expectations, everything was extremely delicious. I definitely give it 10 out of 10!!
