Tokyo Megawalk – Yamanote Line Loop 2024 Edition – S3E5 – Shimbashi to Shinagawa
Let’s see are we finally live I think we might be let me know in the chat if we are so far it says zero viewers so let’s see oh boom there we have suddenly 39 viewers so I think we’re live yes Yenni confirmed that we are live Wonderful welcome welcome to
Shimbashi station and welcome to the next episode of My yamot Line walk it’s a nice Sunday morning here in Tokyo Clear Blue Skies as you can see and it’s currently 5° we’ll go up to 11 later today so let’s go this is the what the fifth episode I
Believe you can see it’s a yeah it’s it’s a quiet morning Sunday mornings in Tokyo are pretty quiet except this very loud TV screen and there’s a loud TV screen there as well and the trains are kind of loud but it’s still relatively relatively chill relatively relaxed
Drive and um yeah the city comes alive in like maybe an hour an hour and a half it will be way more lively on the streets but uh I really enjoy toky in the mornings it’s something I don’t get to experience terribly often these days actually and today too I have my good
Old trusty Sony rx1r Mark I which still has a horrible name but it’s a very nice camera so I’ll be snapping some shots during this walk and uh some of it will end up in the wallpaper Gallery which is ACC accessible to my patreon supporters
So let’s see how far we can make it today this is the fifth episode so I don’t know like walking all the way to Shibuya today is a little bit of a stretch I don’t think that’s going to happen so maybe I will wrap things up somewhere in between here in Shibuya
Which would probably be maybe in like I don’t know osaki one of those kind of boring neighborhoods um that part of the amot line is is not terribly interesting in my opinion um but we’ll see anyway we should be having a nice walk along the kind of Waterfront areas uh partially
Today uh once I get to shinagawa I’ll see if I can you know walk so that we can see a little bit of the Tokyo bay in the frame wow this Pachinko place is already open This is the new shimbashi building which is quite an iconic Landmark here and it’s despite the name it’s it’s everything but new it’s a very old building I don’t think it will be around for that much longer but who knows 1960s yeah I think so you can see new Shashi building
It’s so funny like there’s a lot of things a lot of places in Tokyo that are called new something something and whenever they have the word new in the name they’re they’re never new that’s a sign that they’re old cuz Japanese is not English so the words have a different meaning here
Let’s see which side should we Mo let’s take this way why not I like how the patch of Lights hits the streets down there like this Ramen Shop with the big pig sign open this early that’s uh interesting It’s been it feels like it’s been a while since I was out doing a morning walk like this and I I feel this this kind of light is actually really really exciting like snapping tons of photos with my camera and here’s an empty building well I wonder if it’s for
Rent reflection reveal here you go it’s a little bit windy H that’s unfortunate the weather forecast said the the wind is going to be calm today but I did actually pack my mic so let’s see if we did it and also let’s see what’s the next stop if I remember correctly this
Stretch of the yamano line is also a little bit not terribly exciting or interesting or at least that was my impression last time I think next up should be H CH yes Hamas CH to get there well that’s the train tracks over there so we should just head down this way
Let’s see if we can cross here a little Dash we just passed 100 viewers that’s nice will we get to 1,000 viewers today I don’t think so but the promise still stands if we got a th000 viewers at the same time I will do a face reveal [Laughter]
The promise has been coming for Ren Rambo sweat can you recommend the tour guides well yeah I am a tour guide myself I do tours uh but I don’t know any other one so no sorry I can’t recommend anyone but I do offer them myself but I only link to
My um personal services through my Patron page so if you’re not a patreon supporter uh I’m afraid I can’t help you that was a shin There that TR toine train it’s a little bit windy yeah let’s see if it continues I’ll I’ll uh connect the external mic more block down this way I think okay Rambo yeah send me a message on patreon if you if you can’t find what you’re looking
For and I’ll I’ll point you in the right direction Daniel Yuka says good morning good morning to you guys how are you and how’s the little one Michael kada asked me to walk by Shiva Park Hotel not sure where that is but I will not walk through shba shako and Shiba
Park cuz that’s a little bit too far from the the train tracks I’m afraid so if that hotel is indeed in the park as the name suggests then I’m afraid I will not how is Tokyo for someone in a wheelchair uh it’s a little bit difficult for me to answer since I’m not
In a wheelchair myself so it’s a little bit difficult to kind of get a good sense of what kind of challenges um there are but perhaps it at least I know a little bit more since becoming a dad and walked around a lot with a stroller um this is also kind of
Interesting spot this Italian Square uh I guess everybody’s experience will be a little bit different but I feel that at least most of the public transportation like the train station Etc they at least always have elevators oh and here’s a cute little coffee stand should we get a morning coffee maybe I
Actually only had a comini coffee this morning because I left as soon as I woke up oh it’s not open yet that’s too bad um but I would I’m I’m surprised I would be surprised if there aren’t any like good blogs about like uh Tokyo uh for wheelchair bound people
Which can probably answer that question much better than than I can yeah not so easy but at least also all the like train train station stuff they always like help people to get on and off the trains if needed it’s not something we see quite often yenny thank you thank you for the
Super Chat wind is better now yeah I got good by the way I’ve been teasing that I have a new little project about to kick off soon um and I worked a little bit more on that the last couple of days and I think I’ll be ready to launch it this coming
Week so it will be a new YouTube channel another one uh but I think this one will actually see a little bit of uh regular activity as opposed to my previous attempt um so I’ll reveal the and tease it first to my patreon supporters and uh get a
Little bit of feedback from them before I launch it full scale but I already have at least two videos or I have two videos now after this live stream I plan to shoot a third one for this new channel and uh yeah I’m I’m really excited it’s
Uh um something that I think many of my viewers will enjoy but a slightly different type of video than the ones I’m posting here on on this channel that’ll be fun Bill Davis thank you for the Super Chat and Matthew as well thank you coffee money thank you thank you coffee with a
Friend I prefer not to get into intimate details about my private Health to strangers on internet thank You Sunday streets look look emptier yes absolutely and actually what we’re walking through right now is mostly a business district and since it’s a Sunday it’s uh uh obviously going to be pretty quiet but uh further like later in this stream we will head through more like residential
Areas I think by that time people should be start heading out so yeah also a pretty nice view actually they have a little snapshot thanks Yen for the link yeah that’s something like that I was I was sure that there would be some Vlogs about that I see Oppenheimer no I haven’t
Worked Oppenheimer I haven’t been to to the cinema in I don’t know how many years five maybe I don’t think I’ve been to the cinema since my daughter was born when I have time to go to the cinema I prefer to go on a live walk with you instead Oh look The Tokyo
Monreal the cute little train that connects this neighborhood with uh uh of airport we should see Tokyo to Tower soon that’s indeed correct yes few more oh look look just as I was saying there the tip of Tokyo Tower is sticking out over there we’ll probably get a better
View much soon very soon thank you Eric thank you so much for the Super Chat it’s very nice of you Yes it’s it’s a nice day today yesterday was like yesterday was also sunny but it was super windy I was actually meeting up with some friends and we were supposed to do a picnic but it was like too windy it was really difficult to enjoy oh look here
We can see little bit better view of Tokyo Tower slightly [Applause] yeah when I lived in Sweden before moving to Japan I was looking I was watching a lot of movies as well but then I don’t know to me it feels like watching movies was a little bit of a way to
Escape my boring reality back in Sweden but after coming to Japan my reality isn’t boring boring enough to make me want to watch movies anymore instead I prefer to just go out and you know explore Tokyo go out and take photos be creative do do things in real life
Instead which I think is a good kind of Testament on how much I enjoy living here so we are now at uh TR station I think that from this bridge here we should have a very nice Tokyo Tower View you oh no it’s closed it’s closed I’m not allowed
To go out on this bridge and from this angle we don’t see toot Tower at all on that that’s too bad guess that means we have to walk down there and cross the street just to get a view of Tokyo Tower anyway yeah here you can see the sign of Jr hamamat
Station so another stop on the amot line has been Covered your walks were a very helpful way to for so many to escape your walk were a very helpful Escape for so many folks over the last four years thank you Yanni yeah thank you it always gives me great joy to hear that people have found some peace or Escape through my walks
That’s that’s really great yeah come here we can see it there you go so let’s see next stop on the amop line is Tami so actually okay someone asked me to go to shakan and actually I could do that it’s not going to be that much of a
Detour cuz it’s just over here so I’ll do that I’ll do that train trucks are down there and they kind of make a turn here the next station is kind of this way shakwan is straight ahead and then I turn left and I should be able to make
It uh to to tamachi without too much of a detour I enjoy your walk to that temple in Shaga waku with was that Jenny not sure what you’re talking about now I’ve never met Jenny in person she has never been to Japan so but maybe you’re thinking about the walk I did
With a photographer called Alfie about a year ago year and a half maybe by now we walked around certain parts of Shaga in a 4K video haven’t had guests that many times on this channel so yeah I think or maybe you’re thinking about the work I did with lemi a couple of months
Ago could be that one too Alfie is a middle-aged man if is pretty or not uh I’m not really the right person to to decide but if you’re talking about a woman it’s probably ly who has been a guest on my walks a couple of times now
Oh yeah yeah yeah we got a nice little behind the scenes look uh from the temple yeah yeah that was with ly that was for it’s the end of last year I think like maybe October or so probably last time I had a guest on this channel besides my wife who joined
Me a couple of weeks ago but she was behind the camera just like me yeah I hope to do uh another walk with her soon she’s always it’s always great fun to work with her sure oh man of course yeah we have finally good undisturbed view of the Retro Charming Tokyo
Tower did Tokyo experience any Tremors from the earthquake uh which earthquake are you talking about there’s been a lot recently there’s been a lot of earthquakes in Chiba uh which is just to the east of Tokyo been a lot of earthquakes there in the last couple of
Weeks a lot of people living there are kind of worried that something bigger might come and that would certainly affect Tokyo and it was enough to trigger the earthquake alarm in our building and give us a bit of swaying to wake up too many of those Quakes were in
The early morning as well so yeah not my favorite way to wake up by the earthquake alarm going off but it’s just a part of living in Tokyo yeah yeah cha they were they were like I don’t know four or five days in a row were like earthquakes there nothing terribly strong this
Building here looks like it’s been through a couple of earthquakes as well are the tourists behaving themselves I guess that question is related to what happened in Kyoto recently right that Kyoto just banned tourists from certain or they said that they will ban tourists from certain uh parts of the city
Um I mean the vast majority of tourists here behave pretty well I would say uh but once in a while um we I stumble across tourists with lacking manners but I mean I don’t spend a ton of time in the touristy parts of town so maybe if I
Lived in Asaka and spent every day there my opinion would be different I mean the the majority of people are nice and have a good understanding of how to behave I would say but I’ve also seen a lot of bad man people especially in Kyoto and as I said
Before Kyoto is is a pretty small town with like not really the best infrastructure to to accommodate like Mass tourism on the scale that is currently having so I understand I I think if I lived in Kyoto I would also not be terribly fond of [Applause] tourists
Oh okay Bill well that has been kind of making the news both here in Japan and also internationally quite recently about this recent um uh new rule in Kyoto so yeah here is zor Georgi temple one of the biggest temples in Tokyo and a pretty popular spot partially I think because
It’s proximity to to K Tower so you can get kind of a good view of Good Old and New Tokyo in one photo here for example and I guess this is where I will capture the thumbnail for today’s walk this is a place I come to quite a often for my photo
Shoots every now and then my clients request to get some photos here last year I also shot the chosan which is this kind of tradition in Japan where you go to the shrine or temple with your child when it’s three five or 7 years old and you have a little
Ceremony and they do that ceremony here as well and someone requested the Park Hotel were you talking about this one the Prince Park Tower Hotel there it’s indeed a very sunny morning sunny day and comfy weather if I remember correctly there’s a little Bridge here behind the main temple building that should
Take us into the park so that I can make the left turn I need in order to get to the next train station here Tam yeah shinagawa Prince Hotel over there or not shinagawa uh Prince what is this one called this not shago uh I forgot the name but it’s another one
Of the prince hotels that’s also a Prince Hotel pretty big chain ah sha Park Hotel is back towards the h f station okay you should have told me that a bit earlier not going to go back there now don’t know if I managed to get that in the frame then
But I know that I managed to get these two cones here the frame beautiful beautiful part of contemporary Japan the cons no clouds at all that’s right it’s a very very nice day today a I can feel the smell of incense here it’s so nice yes found the little
Bridge don’t come here here terribly often but I did do a photo shoot here a couple of months ago so where’s Ray Ray is probably asleep because it’s 2 a.m. where he is right now let’s see I hope and think that we should be able to kind of get into the
There’s a park connected to to the hotel hope we can make it there it’s so nice so quiet this up here is a cemetery I don’t really feel that it’s appropriate to walk through cemeteries ah Bill man yeah glad you learned something new so the place I want to get to is
Looks like there’s some construction work going on it’s basically this park here and let’s see if we can go there some people there but are these all construction workers no I don’t think so the Park is open it’s just that entrance that I was planning to use uh
Doesn’t seem to be open let’s see if we can instead maybe not no this will just take me back out to the main road which is not where I want to be let’s see if we can find some other way through here to the left somehow and we just passed 200 viewers
Nice welcome everybody yeah there’s usually a path here oh but wait oh yeah we can walk here oh great great thought this was closed it’s actually getting quite warm I think I need to unzip my jacket yeah this is a pretty popular spot as well for photos since
You can get Tokyo Tower in the background pretty sure that’s what a lot of these people are doing some Gathering of dog owners maybe Tokyo Tower loving dogs and then this looks like a more elaborate photo shoot as well probably all t look the tiny little s Sakura maybe it is oh nice
This is a pretty nice spot I like how it’s yeah you’re kind of have this quiet little was is surrounded by urban urban Tokyo that is that the new one that’s up die Hills I think it is I think it is I’m not sure oh Tira you have a friend in
Kamakura who’s a priest nice had snow two days ago yeah I did a snowy morning walk two days ago and now we have very sunny really not a single cloud in the sky kind of day pretty nice pretty nice this hotel has a very nice view I’ve actually shot some promotional material for
Them for the social media a couple of years ago um it’s nice you can sit in the in the window and like have your breakfast and enjoy the view of Tokyo Tower also the night views are pretty spectacular y so let’s head down here how far is Asaka from here Asaka is
Pretty far um it’s not really yeah we’re in a different part of Tokyo let’s see let me check Google uh let me see what Google says Su if I want to walk to aaka from here it would take me 2 hours and 4 minutes or I could take a train that would take
Me there in 36 minutes so yeah not terribly close and this area actually is also very nice I did some photo shoots here last year as well around here these are all cherry blossom trees so these haven’t started blooming yet but it’s a great spot for like cherry blossoms and Tokyo
Tower kind of for us yeah those are still what one a week at at least one week away maybe two for the full bloom probably two weeks but it often feels like it’s just happening overnight like suddenly boom all the CH Bloss and trees are moom
Suddenly yeah I’m not going to do a for to aaka today it’s not even on the Yan line so no need instead I will head to tamachi which is a few blocks down this way that’s going to be the next stop for today’s walk let’s see
Yes we here here’s the MCH station so basically I just follow this road should get there let’s see can I Dash it’s about to turn red let’s Dash I’m not the only one dashing okay looks like we made it without bre in the Mall yeah so kamach station should be straight down this way making a morning morning workout yeah yeah [Applause] more you at the Power we soon been walking for but we just passed 45 minutes so and I’m about to reach the second station on today’s walk then uh then now after this comes a probably what I would say my least favorite section of the amot line walk which is a very boring
Part from tamachi to Takanawa Gateway and then shinagawa but maybe I should try something new this time Uh so usually what I do so let me show you we’re here now the blue dot here tamachi takanaga Gateway and then shinagawa usually I walk on this side maybe this time I should try the other side so I’m passing over these islands let’s try that instead and see
If that’s a more interesting rout still no coffee shops yeah yeah basically my my wife has three photo shoots this afternoon so I’m going to spend the afternoon with mini Explorer uh but yeah so that’s why I could take this morning off because this morning she
Will be with her so as soon as I woke up I was just like okay I’ll just head out and start walking ASAP so I just had a comini breakfast actually today didn’t eat anything at home before I left I just had a Comin sandwich cup of coffee and uh
And on called my breakfast this morning now let’s try the side [Applause] yeah these areas that we’re walking through now are kind of like high status neighborhoods in central Tokyo and every time I pass through those neighborhoods it’s like I just feel that yeah I’m not really tempted to
Live in one of those like I don’t know this is a little bit too Urban for me I’m much happier Where I Live Now Japan is so clean the country looks like a video game yeah actually that was kind of my impression too when I first
Came here not I mean cless yeah sure but the fact that it many things many parts of Tokyo kind of of do look like a video game I agree and I think it’s because a lot of video games I mean especially the ones I grew up playing they they were made by Japanese
Companies in the 80s and ’90s and uh the sceneries that’s reflected in some of those games are you know based on what Tokyo looked like back then and Tokyo hasn’t really I mean parts of Tokyo has changed a lot since then but many like many areas haven’t so yeah cost for
Those I don’t know I don’t know let’s let’s do a little real estate check here I have this housing app on my phone just take a look at what an apartment around here would cost uh let’s take a look BR so for a little bit of everything
So yeah if you want to rent a three bedroom apartment in one of these houses which is not new it’s built in the 19 19779 so 45 years old the one that I found now that would be a monthly rent of 27 270,000 Yen okay that was actually not terribly expensive
Um if you want to live in a more like a newer one so here is one this one is almost 700,000 Yen a month for 100 square m though so it’s a pretty big one but that’s you know that’s uh more than average person has in monthly
Salary nice little Shrine here on the on the side Let’s see what else do we find we want to buy oh wow okay this is super luxury one maybe not really representative for the area Uh found a an apartment for sale small one one one bedroom 35 square m that would be 41 million yen and that’s I mean that’s for for a single person so okay it’s actually it’s actually not as expensive as I thought it’s not too different from takagawa to be honest
But yeah if you want something reasonably new around here would be very price everything is expensive in Japan that really depends on where you’re from and what you’re comparing with I would say compared to Sweden I would say most things are cheaper here and definitely if you compare to
Say us oh it’s a nice looking Photoshop coffee shop pass coffee it’s very nice but it was very crowded so don’t feel comfortable going in there buying a coffee while streaming um yeah so compared to say New York or you know London or Paris or Stockholm Tokyo is not
Expensive but the thing is also that salaries are generally quite a bit lower here if you’re working as a local employee so from that perspective yeah it’s it’s not cheap but if you’re coming from a different country and you have a some savings for example in dollars or
Euros then I think those that money would last you much longer here than it would in any major uh European or American city oh looks like my gimbal is drunk sometimes those things fixes themselves let’s See yeah England is having a really seems to be a really challenging place to live now even if you have a good job it seems like everything there is has gone crazy expensive without the salaries following and on top of that yeah all the leaving the EU has had
Some negative implications I think I want to cross here let’s do that maybe get the last view of to to for today so yeah defitely I’m I’m very glad that I’m not a local employee here in Japan if I were then I would probably also feeling a much harder pinch now
Than what I’m currently doing H yes weia I also read that article about young Japanese going to work in coffee shops in Australia uh it’s kind of the same in Sweden like a lot of young swedes are going to Norway to work because the salaries are so much higher
There yeah if I was a young Japanese I would definitely be tempted to do something like that too not sure if turning here was the best idea yeah like I mean one of the reasons why me and my wife did decide to stay in Japan after all
Uh was because oh what is this this a temple down here looks inviting I think I’ll continue towards the station uh yeah one of the reasons why we decided to stay in uh Japan instead of moving to swed was because we felt so poor in Sweden and that’s in spite of
Me uh being offered like a pretty good well-paid job uh for company in stom but even if we would move and even if my wife would eventually also find a job there we would feel quite a bit poorer but then again yeah we’re in a bit of a
Unique situation since neither of us are local employees here oh look Bai n headquarters down there I have no idea where this street will take me I think we’re heading somewhat in the right direction friend school that’s a nice name yeah I’m pretty happy with how we managed to set up our
Lives and that’s one of the the reasons why I can go and do all these streams because I don’t work 8 hours a day this is an interesting building it’s oh it’s a is that the Kuwait flag is maybe the Kawai Embassy oh pretty sure I never worked here before
Yeah I think it says quite so here this looks like a relatively new apartment complex Garden residance let’s see how much an apartment is in here if we can find it oh yeah it’s this one uh so if you want to rent a place here how big is it 90 square m
It would be 800,000 Yen a month 800,000 so uh that’s pretty expensive that’s yeah like what 65,000 us and way more than what most people earn in a month here and about three times compared to what a place in our area [Applause] cost wonder if I’m actually heading oh no oh
No well there’s a little Park here to the left I’ve actually walked away from the station can I sure Place through here I’m lost folks I’m lost no maybe maybe here here’s the park so yeah we’re here now here’s tamachi station here’s taksu I’m already like kind of halfway to the next stop
Actually not good so let’s see I want to go down here to this big road again and then let’s see we just passed the 1 hour mark and we’ve only passed what two stops so far on today’s walk not good okay this is at least a reasonably okay Park let’s see what’s up
Here not lost no fun yeah at least getting lost makes for good entertainment me for my viewers so I guess it’s not all bad okay was just a tiny little Lookout Point actually a pretty nice place for a beer break but it’s not beer time so can we walk down this way perhaps
No that looks like a dead end but maybe this this street can take us to the station not even coffee time yet yeah yeah but hey there’s a cherry loon tree down there guess that kind of makes up for It for what’s this place it’s a shrine yeah very healing area school class or something a bit of a nice find at least all bad pting lost on the back streets of central Tokyo okay so we’re back out on the Main Street and okay I know where we are now
So let’s go down to this the pedestrian bridge over there we might be able to see the the station we’re looking for from there and then I can continue my walk this way but I will not cheats I want to at least get the station or some sort of sign from the
Station in the frame before continuing to the next stop 222 viewers that’s a nice nice number it’s a nice number is that is this bridge also being torn down it looks like it’s covered in this blue kind of net not sure if I’ll be allowed up there no it’s closed damn
It it’s not my day today I wonder if this is that apartment building next to the Kuwaiti Embassy that we saw I think it is the one with the 800,000 Yen rent yeah this I hope they’re not tearing down this one because this this bridge actually had a very nice view you can
Get a straight shot of Tokyo Tower from up here which I always enjoyed yes so now we’re back at the Bai Nam headquarters actually think I’ve been there once I was photographing some producer for Swedish video game magazine it was a long time ago it was in the Wii U
Era some piped up Bandai game that was coming to the Wii U if I remember correctly looks like they have to head back back track quite a bit hurg motivational coffee fun thank you thank you we need it yeah now the wind is picking up too oh yeah that’s a good point
Okay so it’s I don’t know exactly what this word means maybe can someone in chat the lighten me but it says that yeah the the work will continue until June but I think I think it looked like it said something about it’s being rebuilt or something like that not being torn
Down if I can interpret that Kani correctly so yeah we have a nice view of to Tower from here much if you can get it’s like the elevated position Michael sne thank you thank you that’s a very generous and motivational Super Chat I was almost thinking like should I just end the walk
At kamti station over there but now thanks to that Super Chat Michael I decided not to I decided to continue a little bit further so everybody in the in the chat should thank Michael and everybody else who are super chatted today because it’s really the support I get from you
Viewers that pushes me to walk further and keep doing this that’s the harsh reality we live in a capitalistic world and money is money is the motivator for all of us to some extent including me oh yeah I think last time I actually did a coffee break here
Last time I did the Yos line walk I think what I will do now is I will actually pass through the station so that I get out on the opposite side uh more towards the Waterfront area instead of walking back the same way I just came that would be too depressing and too
Boring thank you Eric wow again don’t overdo it man but thank you I appreciate it for some quality time with your daughter thank you I’ll buy her an ice cream if she’s if she’s good today but only if she’s at least I’m at 55% battery so I
Should have the enough to go for another another hour so finally kamachi [Applause] station reflection reveal oh yeah my tired my tired grumpy face actually I don’t look thaty I do enjoy doing these walks anyway nothing to be grumpy about look at this big group of tourists I don’t know if they’re
Tourists but they’re obviously going some anyway here we arei station finally shimbashi uh too tamachi third stop today which is a very low station count after what an hour and 20 minutes but yeah the the stations around this part of yamano line are somewhat far apart that’s why they built this takaa
Gateway because it used to be the distance the stop between tamachi and shinagawa which used to be the only two stations that was so far that’s why they decided to build another stop in between those through here and see what happens Nas changing their logo oh good question I don’t know are they maybe this a nice nice shot of Reflections in the Symmetry and now we’re on the east side outside of the Yoon tracks another photo here maybe this is really nice the the light and shadows here are pretty cool okay thumbnail yeah station here of course she since shinagawa is down there so that’s why there’s a lot of shin conin train Passing oh wow thank you Paul donker slute anine effort reward fund thanks T thank you thank you okay thanks to that super chat I will extend the walk even one more station so uh we should be making it to shinagawa today we should make it to shinagawa
Today thank you thank you that’s very generous very nice of you my daughter loves the letter Q whenever she sees it out in the wild she always points it out Papa C she says me hey Daddy look it’s aute Q she really loves that letter she’s really into like learning the alphabets and
Numbers she knows hiragana and romaji by now quite quite well and she started getting like interested and understanding that there’s also Katakana Kani is still a little bit too abstract for her I think want to go down here it looks like this is a bridge over some some sort of Little
River so let’s go down and check it out there there’s like um on the train line one of the train lines that go to to fot tamakawa they have something they call Q seat is like slightly nicer Che seat that you can pay a little bit extra for
And that that car where those seats are located it has a big queue on on the side so yeah that always makes her very happy when she when one of those trains are are stopping look C little water front we can actually walk here how nice how nice sounds like the automated YouTube
Subtitles are a little bit too American Centric for Tokyo Channel anyway there’s a little there’s a comini here do you mind if I do a little little comini coffee break I think I deserve that this area actually feels quite nice not sure if I’ve been around here
Before this side of me Tha is kind of like this this has a much much more of a kind of small town vibe to it no it’s not cute for quiet it’s not I think all the cars on the trains in Tok are supposed to be quiet
Okay it’s all automated here but I think in order to get okay so coffee ice coffee saying I should use this one good to hear that all of you think that I deserve a coffee okay good I got myself a little ice coffee let’s do a little coffee break down here by the
River 248 Japanese Yen was that what the coffee cost that’s actually a little bit expensive for com ice coffee L there but maybe they gotten more expensive definely want to sit on the sunny side down there oh okay and these some of these Bridges here seem to be nicely lit up at night
Time let’s do a quick little coffee break here and then continue the walk along this little river oh look they even do Sakura Cruise here you can rent the whole boat 75 minutes 40,000 Yen does it say how oh 8 people so if you’re eight people sharing
It’s just 5,000 y per person could be worth it I’m sure it must be nice I I kind of would like to do that actually I hav I haven’t really did experienced Tokyo by boat much yeah yeah a little coffee break Here I didn’t even take notice of the coffee price most of Tokyo east of the Imperial Palace is on reclaimed land yes that’s right about proportion of reclamation to plac during the EO period when shinagawa Juku was the first chukua post town in to oh I see thanks for the history
Lesson thanks for the history lesson yeah yeah there’s a lot of reclined land in the Tokyo bay good this little break also means that I can finally take off my thick thick jacket which is way too it was definitely necessary when I left the house this
Morning at 8 but uh now it’s way too hot okay let’s coffee uh does this say push this is weird Okay anyway come by good definitely need a cold drink now so 90 minutes since I started today’s walk and yeah we just passed the third station but I will make two more
Takanawa Gateway and shinagawa thanks to the motivational fund I got from some of my viewers I’m chugging this coffee like it’s water I was quite thirsty yeah it’s definitely warmer now it’s uh it says 8° but I believe it’s more at least here where there’s no wind or very little wind it’s very
Comfortable oh 250 viewers yay thanks everybody okay coffee break done let’s continue with me to see if I can put this cup in my bag until I find the trash can I think this should be relatively safe have lots of tech in my bag which I don’t want to spill coffee on there
Should be okay yes let’s go let’s go let’s go just a moment yes let’s continue ah I feel so refreshed with coffee and getting rid of my coat makes a huge difference oh really so looks like I ran out of space on my memory card the camera that I’m
Carrying man to delete some photos here I haven’t actually there’s photos from last summer on this memory card I haven’t used this camera much is need another memory card well I just need to format my current memory card but cuz I backed up most of those photos already so it’s not a big
Deal camera shops in this area don’t know don’t think so but they actually sell memory cards at the comedian stores oh look that’s the Mario Karts Okay is hopefully the signal will hold up here in this little bridge this little tunnel can Del maybe 20 photos or something should be enough for me to for the rest of this walk let’s continue a little bit further along the river shall we uh let me look at the map I
Should yeah looks like this is a pretty good route yeah unless looks also a little bit like might be a dead end coming up but I don’t think so there’s usually some little Pathway to get up to to like the main streets yeah river boat tours we just saw that they’re
Doing like Cherry blossam River Cruise here and I think it looks like there’s kind of like a river taxi service along this little Waterway that’s quite nice do I listen to any lowii beats on YouTube uh no no I don’t when I listen to YouTube listen to music it’s usually on
Spotify don’t use YouTube for listening to music at least these benches have place for two people each it’s not those introverts one seaters that we so often see here in Tokyo what’s my favorite song nowadays oh good question not sure if I have a specific favorite song that I
Can point out like same with music like don’t really listen like at home we just listen a lot to these kind of like chill Jazzy playlists usually to create a relaxing mood before putting mini to sleep those are quite nice I guess but it’s not something I’m walking like listening to in my Headphones I sadly I must say I don’t really listen that much to Music These Days the only times when I do is like when I’m on Long flights then I can spend a couple couple of hours listening to music then it’s usually like old stuff things I listen
To you know 50 20 years ago music taste hasn’t really evolved that much sadly but when I’m out when I’m riding the trains I usually watch YouTube on my phone rather than listen to music or I also listen to Swedish radio quite a lot but that’s just spoken spoken country uh spoken things
So news and documentaries but I still have a Spotify playlist which is available to my patreon supporters if you are a patreon supporter and you want to find it maybe shoot me a message because I posted that link quite a long time ago and it might
Be difficult to locate it if you’re a new member but uh yeah nice this Urban Canal yep I’m in my 40s indeed I would definitely not listen to link Inn park I think that genre is awful in my opinion but everyone is free to have their own taste any thoughts on Nikon acquiring
Video camera maker red interesting question yeah that made the news the other day right right it’s a pretty big deal that’s for sure let’s see is this a dead end coming up here will be somehow be able to find a way to the big street again she’ll soon find out
Um I think it’s kind of it’s it’s cool it’s you know it signals that Nikon is really ambitious they want to dominate the video Market that’s a pretty big deal they were already doing that like with the Z8 that I bought last summer oh look Lisa Lon Swedish designer um they were already
Like okay this is no we can actually pass through here wow lucky us lucky lucky lucky lucky so yeah it’s a big deal it means that they’re serious about video uh uh it also means that you know it’s a signal that Nikon is not going away anytime soon like a lot of people
Were quite worried Nikon wasn’t doing very well until quite recently some people even speculated that Sony maybe would have would buy Nikon um but yeah it’s it’s positive I mean I’m a Nikon shooter myself so I’m happy to see good news about that company one chin in there another shinen
There wow shinen Matsui double shinan so this I guess we’re in the area around the Gateway station now this is still a big construction site uh let’s see I think I’ll ask this Gard okay this way then oh y is here nice morning yti let’s see hope the signal holds up
Through this tunnel it’s quite long looks a bit of a challenge fingers crossed yeah Matsui means Festival but it’s also something we usually say when there’s a lot of something so a lot of trains then sh Mar City yeah that’s why I said shansen m city it’s not an actual Festival
I’m surprised it looked like the signal was holding up on there oh it’s very low here so I really have to punch to walk here got a bit of a face reveal there that’s on me I look at this tunnel super low but now we should be back on the other
Side of the train tracks again so will the Japanese economy be able to fill the buildings being built good question I don’t know however it feels like there’s still quite a big demand for office property in Tokyo l song Thank You leg I’m curious what they’re actually building here it’s a massive massive
Redevelopment area not my favorite kind of area to walk through but that’s what I meant when I said that this this is one of the most boring parts of the Yano Line work like it was kind of similar last year to mostly construction zones but Tak Gateway should be somewhere over here
Uh maybe could be at the base of this Tower they’re building not sure 40% battery left we’re getting close to 2 hours of walking today but that means we should have actually enough juice for another hour wow my old trusty iPhone is still holding up relatively well I think it
Said battery health is like 93% now I’ve had this phone for almost a year and a half and I’ve been streaming quite excessively with it so quite impressed t r the resident historian yes thank you for the history lesson again I wonder if the station is here
So not really office area this no they’re they’re turning it into one I guess like these are probably going to be Office Buildings when they’re done but most on the on this side is mostly residential some offices too but yeah mix first station is this on the subway oh on oh that’s
Das wait another cycle this boring crossing here is the message from the Tokyo Police Department saying that when you ride a bike you should wear a helmet let me yeah okay over there I see the science say Tak our gateway to the left I don’t want to miss another station walk too long
Evergreen isn’t Evergreen wasn’t that the shipping company with that ship that got stuck in the Zo s Canal a year or two ago wasn’t that Evergreen in Japan it’s not illegal to ride a bike without a helmet it’s just a recommendation there is a bit chilly actually now I’m in the shade
So yeah ever given was the name of the ship that’s right that’s right ever green was the The Shipping Company so I walked 8 km so far oops it disappeared there we go 8 kilm almost 8 km so far today another one green is also brand like pieces of
Plastic for model maker oh I see didn’t know that where bloody station okay okay so I need to take the left the next Crossing normally this quiet on a Sunday it really depends on where you are like if you’re in Shibuya right now it’s not going to be quiet with Shinjuku
This is a relatively quiet area so unless you’re in the like early morning rush hour when everybody’s getting to the station to catch the train to work it’s probably not going to be so busy here that’s that’s a question that I get a lot when people are watching my streams they are like
Surprised like that it’s so quiet and I think a lot of people seem to think that Tokyo is only like Shibuya and Shinjuku and those kind of areas like very busy very crowded but those areas are actually you know they’re the they’re The Oddities that stand
Out um most parts of Tokyo is yeah where people live and those areas are generally pretty quiet a very small oh it’s a hydrogen station that’s interesting so yeah tuck on our Gateway station here behind this crane there it is can you see it I can see it zoom
In so that’s the station building over there so four stations finally on this walk oh ruen Takata I’ve been there many times it was one of the towns that got really devastated by the tsunami in 2011 I went there four or five times in total I think to kind of write newspaper
Articles about the the tsunami disaster and the re rebuilding building efforts after it wonderful beautiful place beautiful people living there everybody was like so friendly despite some of them having lost everything in that tsunami they were like very welcoming and happy to share their stories with
Me I think last time I went was probably at the 5ye anniversary of the tsunami so back in 2016 would be interesting to go there again see what it’s like now we just passed the 200 Mark 2our Mark and 250 viewers currently tuned in thank you and welcome to this
In my opinion pretty boring part of Tokyo um especially at this section between tamachi and shinagawa but we will soon be in Shaga shinagawa that’s actually shinagawa Prince Hotel sticking up there and then after shinagawa it gets a little bit more interesting again let’s do another Dash here it’s about to turn
Red I did yes did make it across I cut right good job me good job te and yeah shinagawa will be where I wave goodbye to you today I think unless someone else drops a surprisingly large Super Chat that forces me to walk another stop U on the train
Line uh let’s see yeah Shaga is pretty close from here and then after Shaga is it oaki stop after I think it is yeahi meuro IU Shibuya is what I have left so what’s the Redevelopment I’m working around so this station the Takanawa Takanawa Gateway station is the newest station on
The Amano line it was completed like I don’t know 3 years ago maybe uh and this entire area is being redeveloped now into yeah Office business district uh but that Redevelopment still has quite a long way to go as you can see so when I walked
Here last year it was the same it’s just a big big construction zone uh but once we get to shinagawa very soon then those areas are already developed again you have to spend time with your daughter this afternoon friend yes absolutely absolutely I still have a bit of
Time I’m meeting I’m meeting them at 2:00 it’s just 11: 11:15 now so I still have 3 hours of free time of spare time but I am planning to shoot like I teased earlier in this walk I’m planning to shoot another video for my new yet unannounced Channel which I plan
To release to my patreon supporters this coming week and then make public uh soon thereafter but first my patreon supporters will get to see it and give a little bit of feedback before I switch it on for everybody to enjoy Those of you who has been following my channel for a long time and who has been all also joining my previous Yaman not line walks you might remember that the first yamano line walk I did I think it was the first one was it last
Year no I think it was the first one I did that one actually started and ended on this pedestrian bridge here uh I started that Y Line walk here so yeah I think that’s a good place to wrap up today’s one as well would you say the construction in Sweden
Is better than in Japan or is the Japanese better than Sweden what do you mean by better uh I’m not really a construction expert so I can’t make a qualified judgment but what I can say is that it’s certainly much much quicker here in Japan the whole process from you know
Starting something until it’s done it’s much much faster uh here and if you’re talking about actually like structural Integrity well again I’m not an expert but considering there’s so many earthquakes in Japan and that very very rarely we have anything like buildings collapsing in this country I think that’s a pretty good
Um evidence on how yeah how how good the Japanese earthquake safety standards are uh another detail is we live in a relatively newly built apartment I think it’s like 10 years old uh big big apartment building several hundred apartments and we we never never never never hear a
Sound from our neighbors it’s super quiet isolation between the apartments is really good uh but that’s of course because we live in a new concrete building if you live in a cheap old wooden building it’s very different and also like I mean I live in some share
Houses so in like detached houses here in Tokyo as well and those had like way less privacy like then we could hear what our neighbors who are in a physically different building were actually watching on TV so yeah it’s a big oh architecture attractiveness I mean I don’t think Tokyo or or
Japan I don’t think it’s I think I don’t think the buildings here are beautiful I much rather prefer like you know European cities where all the buildings are like hundreds of years old and you can really feel the history as you’re walking through the city centers uh so in that sense I
Definitely would say that Sweden or Europe wins but at the same time you know Japan has a very different history this city was like just a pile of rubble 70 years ago uh and had to be rebuilt from scratch so that of course you know meant that function had
To be prioritized rather the form and I also think that yeah Tokyo is a very kind of very well well-built City in the sense that everything works it’s very it’s usually very easy to get around and considering how many people living here I think it’s everything is just working remarkably well so
Yeah there are so many different way to quantify what’s good and I mean I I keep saying this but if I thought that there was a better place on this planet for me and my family to live right now we would be there not here but right now we feel
That this is the best place for us everything put together and uh despite living here for 16 years now I still love this city and think that it’s yeah the best city on Earth anyway that’s it for today thanks everybody for joining thanks everybody for supporting me today for the generous
Super chats for your good company and um yeah I don’t know when the next episode of this yam not the line Mo will be could happen as soon as tomorrow and the last one the next one should be the last one I really think I should make it from here to Shibuya in
The next walk so yeah but this will be it for today and by the way yeah that’s shinagawa station down there that’s the Jr shinagawa station so just to make sure that we got the station in the frame okay thanks so much for watching and see you all soon again byebye he cheers

I missed a guite a bit of this Train Line walk but i still liked it ,especially because these are my favorites whether they’re short or long walks😎Thank you for sharing T E 🙂👍!!!
Next time you go to tokyo tower , hopefully the taiyaki corner shop is open . One of my favourite places. Yummy. 👍 24:44
Throughly enjoyed this walk, especially the detour up to zojoji temple & the tower , even better was when you got lost and found kamazuka park. The development around Takanawa gateway is huge , that area used to be rail yards waaaay back.
31:04 We could get a chance to see that the 325m Azabudai Hills tower in the distance looks half of the height of the 330mTokyo tower
as an example of perspective .
46:48 I sometimes drive on the expressway remembering bitter memories in this area. When I worked in Kanda area, I had job interviews at 5 companies around this area. One was at 26:19 this white building. Another one was at a company which was 10 minutes walk to the opposite (east) direction from Hamamatsucho station. My decision was working at a company near Shiba Koen. But it didn't last so long. I moved to a company near Sugamo station then moved to another one in Akihabara area. then moved to Nihonbashi , then —> Shinjuku where I started my career after graduation. I did Yamanote Line Loop in a different way. lol
enjoyed the video very much, was back in Tokyo in November will be back late 2025. I'm in Scotland yen was about 190 yen to GBP Pound, looks like still the same. I Wages ae rising next month, taxman however getting more money, average wage in Glasgow area isn't the same as rest of UK and Yes getting uber expensive, even transport, I walk to work too expensive. I am bored with the area, I do feel at home in Tokyo/Japan but I don't have enough funds and my age late 40s go against me moving to likes of Japan.
beautiful relaxing walk! now it’s sunday morning for me and I continue watching while having breakfast 🙌🏽
