【A budget hotel near Kyoto Gion and Yasaka Shrine】The APA Hotel was comfortable😴

This time, I stayed at a budget hotel near Gion, Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. Please enjoy until the end. Hello, I’m at Kyoto Station. This time, I will be staying at a budget hotel near Gion, Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. First, I’m heading to the Karasuma Line subway. To platform 2, towards Shijo.

I’ll get off at Shijo Station. The fare is 220 yen, and the ride takes just about 3 minutes. I’m heading towards the Hankyu train area. Next, I’ll go to the Hankyu Karasuma Station ticket gate, towards the east side of Shijo-dori underground passage, in the direction of Kawaramachi. Oh? Look, Mario has appeared here.

The game I played the most as a child was Super Mario Brothers. 🙂 Luigi and Yoshi are here too. Go for it, Mario! Princess Peach is waiting! The one I struggled with the most was the Cheep Cheep. 😣 Thank you, Nintendo, for the fun times.

I’m coming out towards the south of Kiyamachi Street, near Minamiza. Shijo Ohashi Bridge. The view of the Kamo River from Shijo Ohashi Bridge is spectacular. Continuing further east. On the south side is Gion’s Hanami-koji, so the hotel is just around the corner.

The Hanami-koji area has many areas where photography is prohibited, which I wasn’t fully aware of, so I didn’t take any photos. This is the hotel where I will be staying this time. The name of the hotel is “APA Hotel Kyoto Gion Excellent.”

APA Hotels are usually known for their modern buildings, but this hotel has an old and retro feel. Next to the hotel, there is a Kanji Museum. This place looks fun too. They offer rental devices for multi-language audio guides, so it seems like a fun experience for international travelers as well.

And it’s about a 2-minute walk from the hotel to Yasaka Shrine. I plan to head to Yasaka Shrine in the evening. Now, I’ll check in. The reception is on the second floor. The lobby has a nice retro atmosphere. I’ll receive my key card at the reception.

The room I reserved this time is a single room. My room is number 301. The hallway is like a maze. Here it is, room 301. Let’s go inside. First, I’ll lock the door. Oh, this is quite nice. Now, let’s go on a room tour.

Smoke prevention goods to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning in case of fire. There are six hangers. Below the hangers, there’s storage space for carry cases and such. Card key switch. Light switches. A tall mirror. Two pairs of indoor slippers. Another two pairs of room slippers.

Many disposable slippers are thin and not comfortable, but the slippers here are thick and comfortable. This is a luggage rack. Trash bins designated for plastic bottles, cans, and bottles. Here is a trash bin for general waste. A shoehorn. Emergency light for power outages. A coffee maker. Coffee capsules and instructions. TV remote control.

Two bottles of water. Tissue paper and a notepad. A phone connected to the front desk. An electric kettle. Instant coffee and green tea. Deodorizer. Air conditioner switch. There’s also a desk and chair. Inside the drawer, there’s A hairdryer.

Although there’s a charge, you can send your luggage from the hotel, which can reduce your baggage, especially convenient for international visitors. Multipurpose bags that can be used as shopping bags or laundry bags. A refrigerator is also provided. What about the view from the room? The view isn’t great. 😓 An alarm clock.

There are three power outlets. Bedside lighting controls. A bed liner. Two sets of origami cranes and yukatas. The toilet and bathroom are very clean and shiny. Of course, it comes with a bidet function. Two hand towels. Two bath towels. Two paper cups. Two hair brushes. Two shower caps. Two hair rings.

Two pieces of cotton. Two toothbrushes. Two razors. Two body towels. Two cotton swabs. Hand soap. One more power outlet. A small washbasin. A bath mat. Body soap. Conditioner. Shampoo. The chair is “talking.” Now, let’s head to Yasaka Shrine at night. You can see Yasaka Shrine as soon as you leave the hotel.

It took about 2 minutes on foot from the hotel to reach Yasaka Shrine. We’ll enter through the Nishi Romon, the symbol of Yasaka Shrine. It’s beautifully lit up and has a very nice atmosphere. This is the oldest building in the shrine precincts, rebuilt in 1497 after being destroyed during the Onin War.

There are about two food stalls set up within the shrine precincts. One of the highlights of Yasaka Shrine has to be this dance stage. The light from the lanterns creates a magical atmosphere. The lanterns are donated by tea houses and nearby restaurants in the geisha district. This is the main hall.

There are about 100 lanterns in the precincts, creating a fantastical atmosphere as well. These lanterns are also donated by shops from around the Gion area. The view of Shijo Street from this West Tower Gate is the best viewpoint. I’m hungry, so I’m thinking of going to have dinner.

Tonight’s dinner is at Ichiran, Kyoto Kawaramachi branch. You fill out an order form specifying the flavor strength, garlic quantity, and noodle firmness among other details. My order is the basic flavor strength, basic amount of garlic, and firmer noodles.

A basic ramen with char siu, egg, seaweed, and wood ear mushrooms topping for 1620 yen (tax included). Let’s eat. Yes, delicious. It’s a taste that appeals to everyone. I can see why Ichiran is popular even overseas.

The booth has partitions, so you can focus on your ramen without worrying about your neighbors, which is appreciated. That was a great meal. I wanted to visit Hanami-koji in Gion, but I’ll have to pass this time. I’ve returned to the hotel. Now, I think I’ll take a shower. The water pressure check passes.

Washing up now. Might as well enjoy a cup of coffee. First, I’ll add water. I open the lid of the coffee maker. The coffee capsule goes here. Set the cup, close the lid. Just set your preferred amount and temperature, then press the button. Delicious 😃 Brushing my teeth.

Before bed, I’ll check the bedding. The pillow is a bit firm. The duvet is soft and light. The mattress is quite thick and soft. Now, I think I’ll go to sleep. Looks like I’ll have good dreams. Goodnight 😴😴😴 Good morning 🥱 A coffee to start the day.

Today’s breakfast is Oikos yogurt and a ham sandwich I bought at a convenience store in advance. For health, I’ll start with the yogurt, which doesn’t spike my blood sugar. Next, the ham sandwich. It’s refreshing and delicious. That was a great meal. Now, I’ll start preparing to leave.

My thoughts on staying at the APA Hotel Kyoto Gion: it’s affordable at 5,500 yen (tax included) per night with both a shower and toilet equipped. Additionally, its location is excellent for sightseeing, being about a 2-minute walk to Gion, Hanami-koji, and Yasaka Shrine. The bed was extremely comfortable.

I would like to stay here again. Have I forgotten anything? Now, I’ll check out. Thank you, room 301. Returning the card key to this machine completes the check-out process. It’s very simple. Good morning, Kyoto. Such beautiful weather 😄 With that, I’d like to conclude this trip. Thank you for watching till the end.

Nin nin.
