Here is the third destination for the Kyushu Region Roulette Trip! Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture! Yame City is nationally famous for its Gyokuro and Sencha teas. According to a tourist guidebook, the city can be divided into six areas: Yame area, Tachibana area, Jyoyo area, Kurogi area, Hoshino area, and Yabe area.

Among them, we traveled to four areas this time. The sweets and gourmet foods that make the most of Yamecha tea, which is characterized as “sweet, rich and tasty,” are all must-see items.

In addition to Yame tea, which is a specialty of Yame, you should not miss the food that you can only taste here. Yame is also famous for its plum blossoms and wisteria! So, although it was not the season, we would like to introduce some famous places based on official information.

In this video, we will provide 13 recommended sightseeing spots and spectacular viewpoints, and more than 10 recommended gourmet foods and sweets. At the end of the video, we also introduce our personal recommendation ranking. Please watch to the end! Now let’s get started!

The first stop on our trip to Yame will be tea! And soft ice cream! So we will head to the “Yame area” right away! The first stop was the “Yame Central Grand Tea Garden”. The road winds its way through the tea fields, so we were excited as we drove along.

The view from the top is exceptional. On a clear day, you can see the Ariake Sea and the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture. Green Monster’s sencha tea is brewed in a Kyusu (Japanese teapot)! The tea fields are at their best from April to mid-May,

So we would like to visit again in the warmer season! The place to come for soft-serve ice cream is Koga no Yamecha, operated by Koga Tea Company. The staff told us that a mix was recommended, so we decided to get a mix of green tea and vanilla.

For 300 yen for this amount, we were happy…! It tastes like green tea. The matcha is not too sweet, but the vanilla is sweet, so it’s a really good mix. It’s true! The matcha is very rich and delicious! The vanilla is definitely sweet vanilla.

It tastes great on its own, but it is so much better when eaten at the same time. I recommend this mix.I’m sure of it. It’s so good. Next up is “Yamecha Cafe Bunbuku”. We were curious, so we ordered cold “Cha Soba” and “Hojicha Soy Milk Royal Tea”.

Yes, the aroma of tea is coming through. It’s so smooth and tasty, isn’t it? It’s a little different from ordinary soba noodles, isn’t it? The rice noodles are thin. Yes, it’s good. Yes, it’s good! Kashiwa gohan (rice with kashiwa seaweed) has a relaxing taste. Oh, I know. It’s relaxing.

Yeah, it’s good with a lot of ingredients. It’s plentiful. It’s so soft and fluffy. Unlike regular milk tea, it’s quite savory. That’s true. I can feel the aroma of the Hojicha tea and the smoothness of the soy milk. It’s great that you can make it as sweet as you like with sugar!

Oh, it’s so good. Yeah, it’s good. Next, we will stroll through the “Yame and Fukushima townscape”. The town has a nostalgic feel, but there are also unique stores hidden within. “Machiya CAFE Shioya,” which used to be a salt shop, and the retro-pop “Umeno Goods Store & Umeno Store” are among them.

Due to time constraints, we were unable to visit either of these stores, so next time we will want to go there with an empty stomach! But still, it was as if we had traveled back in time! The “Fukushima Hachiman Shrine” can be seen as you walk through the town of Yame Fukushima.

Although the shrine has a long history, it is very active, holding Kyushu’s largest “Hatsumode Festival” from December 31, 2023 to January 3, 2024, and dedicating Japan’s first “nursing amulet”. You can also make a “virtual visit” from the official website,

So if you are curious but cannot go to Yame right now, please visit the official website. This time we came to the “Yame Traditional Crafts Museum” located about two minutes by car from Fukushima Hachimangu Shrine. We were given permission to film… please take a look at this magnificent altar!

Although it may be difficult to convey the size in the video, the real thing was so large and gorgeous that it made my mouth drop open! You can also try your hand at making handmade washi at the “Handmade Washi Museum”.

It was very nice to feel the good old traditional culture close at hand. Now, we wanted to try Yame’s udon, so we paid a visit to “Tsuruya Shiyakusho-mae Store”. This time we ordered burdock udon and mini tendon. The mini-tendon is gorgeous with seaweed, shrimp, and egg on top! Delicious! Delicious!

Delicious! It’s soaked into my body! It’s really soft and tasty! The noodles are so smooth! They’re really smooth! Fukuoka udon is delicious! You don’t even have to chew it, it’s so soft you can swallow it! Crunchy burdock root! Goboten is so good! I’ll have a mini-tendon.

Wow, the soup stock is so good! The eggs are great too. Yeah, the soup stock is a little sweet. Yes, it is sweet, isn’t it? Yum! The last recommended spot in the Yame area is “Dobashi Market”.

We came to Dobashi Market at night because it has a different atmosphere during the day and at night. Some of the stores have closed in the past few years, but the retro atmosphere is exciting! You may end up drinking a lot, but be careful not to drink too much!

In fact, on the last night of our trip to Yame, an acquaintance contacted us and said, “If you are in Yame, I recommend this place as well,” so let me introduce it to you as well. We would like to visit this one next time we visit Yame!

Next, we will tour the “Tachibana Area. Attracted by its cute appearance, we visited “Kanohachi Honey Garden”. The restaurant is lovely with a fireplace. While we were curious about gelato, we ordered “Quattro Formaggi”, “Hot Honey Tea Milk Tea” and “Pomegranate Honey Soda”. Yummmm! The sweetness of honey and pomegranate match so well! Yum!

Oh, this is so delicious. It’s so smooth and easy to drink. Wow! Amazing! What is this? The moment I put it in my mouth, I could smell the honey flavor on my nose. It’s a little different from the honey tea I imagined. It’s different. You know what I mean? It’s different.

It’s not sweetness, but the aroma is really honey. It’s tasty. Yes, it is. I put a lot of honey on it. Thank goodness for unlimited drizzling! It’s a perfect match! It’s delicious. The saltiness of the cheese and the aroma of the honey match so well.

The cheese is a little bit peculiar, so the honey eases it nicely and it goes really well together. It’s so good! Yum! Next up is “Yuu no Tani,” a great value yakitori restaurant. This time we ordered the assorted dish for one, dago soup, and additional seseri and chicken wings.

This is the only part of the audio that was recorded later, because the voice of another customer was included in the recorded audio. I’ve heard word of mouth that even two people can get by with one serving. I appreciate this amount for 2,000 yen! They are all crunchy and delicious!

It’s really good with yuzu gosho on it! The chicken wings are delicious! Dango Jiru soup is also warming! Tachibana Town is one of the leading ume (plum) growing areas. We would like to introduce “Tanigawa Plum Grove”.

This trip was not during the plum season, but We happened to visit last year, so here is a report from that time. Although it was a little past the best season for viewing, there were many visitors. Tachibana Town is also known for its specialty, “Tachibana Wine” made from the fruit.

You can buy fresh kiwi wine, Amao, plum, mandarin orange, and other wines at the venue. The “Bamboo Light Fantasy World” held in a wine cellar in the venue of the plum blossom viewing party was also an enchanting space. The “Kurogi area,” where we headed next, is also a place full of attractions.

One such place is “502CAFE by Yamecha Monogatari”. We hesitated, but had the “Yame Matcha Shake” and the “Yame Hojicha Latte”. Good matcha! Sweet matcha that’s easy to drink. Is that tea powder on top? Oh! I like hojicha! Yes, matcha is good too!

I guess this matcha is easy to drink for both small children and adults. It’s good. Yum! “n/tea stand” is located about 2 minutes drive from “502CAFE.” This time we ordered the “Genmaicha Milk” and the “Chocolate Vanilla Hojicha Frappe” because we were attracted by the term ” limited time offer”.

Great volume! Looks so cute! Delicious, so good! Yes, it’s delicious! Wow, it’s brown rice tea! It’s just like the aroma of the tea. It’s amazing. Yes! Hey! Hey! The bottom part of this is Hojicha! It’s true! It’s delicious! Yum!

The most famous spot in the Kurogi area is the “Kurogi no Ofuji” (Big Wisteria Tree). Although we were not able to see the giant wisteria this time, it is said that during the season the whole area is filled with the fragrance of the flowers and many people are impressed by their beauty.

Many people visit from all over Japan, and it seems to be a big success, with product exhibitions and lighting displays! We would like to visit in the spring! The next stop is Yamanaka Valley Park, located beyond Kurogi’s popular spot “Greenpia Yame ”.

No one was around when we visited, so we were able to enjoy the clean air together! It is not a big waterfall, but it is very relaxing to watch it flow. As the name “Momiji Valley” implies, there are many autumn leaves in the park!

It is recommended to visit during the fall foliage season, or even out of season. Well, on the way home, we found a place that caught our attention! We decided to stop by in a hurry. Looking down on Yame City from the deck a little beyond the parking lot.

Is that the Ariake Sea in the distance? Looking around, we see a sign that says “Observation Deck”. The observation deck is this way…! After walking up the narrow path, we came to an open space. It is higher than the previous deck, so you can get a good view of Yame.

This is a spot where you can enjoy flower viewing in the spring! Away from “Ariake Sea Viewing Hill” and up a mountain road is “Cafe Hachi-no-Shizuku,” a raw honey specialty store. In addition to fresh honey, the store also sold sundries and other items.

We stared at the menu and ordered a “moffle” made of rice cake and honey café au lait. You have big cups. They’re big. Plenty of it. It’s very mild on the tongue. Oh, it’s true. Right, right. It’s not too bitter, so it’s easy to drink. The moffle is huge!

It’s a waffle made with rice cakes, so it’s a moffle. It’s chewy. It’s filled with a lot of honey! Yummy! Ice cream and red bean paste go well together! Oh, it’s so good!

I thought the café au lait would be less sweet, but with this moffel, it’s just the right amount of sweetness! It’s true, it’s totally different when you drink them together. It’s totally different. Yes, it is. “Saryo Chiyono-en”, located on the way to Heart Rock, is one of the recommended restaurants.

This time, we ordered “seasonal mountain rice” and “dashi chazuke with tea cherry rice”. The menu includes sencha green tea served over ice before the meal, matcha brown rice tea during the meal, and Japanese black tea after the meal, perfect for those who want to enjoy a cup of tea!

Wow, what’s this? Oh, what is this? I’ve never had this green tea before. I’ve never had this taste before. I wonder what it is. Wow! It feels full-bodied. Amazing! Wow, it’s really delicious. Wow, it smells like green tea. It smells like green tea. It’s tasty!

I feel like the rice is sweet. It’s sweet, isn’t it? Yes, it’s good. The soup stock is delicious, and the aroma of the tea is really coming to the forefront. It’s new! I’ve never had something like this ochazuke. This ochazuke is so good! It’s good, with an amazing wormwood aroma accenting it.

But strangely enough, it’s kinda like a cookie. It’s totally delicious with jam on it. The last area to go around is the “Hoshino Area”. And here is a store we were glad to have met in this area, “Strawberry of the Sun.

When we were looking at the menu list and wondering what to order, the store owner carefully explained the recommendations and the different toppings. Among them, we chose the “Fresh Ripe Amao Strawberries and Crunchy Strawberry Paradise”. Ahhhh..! Amazing rich strawberries! Wow, strawberries are amazing! Delicious!

The sweetness of the Amaou comes directly from the strawberries! The soft serve ice cream itself is not too sweet, so it’s all in harmony. The strawberries themselves are delicious! These strawberries are delicious! Oh my god! You must try it when you come to Hoshino Village! You must try this! Yum!

In the Hoshino area, we definitely wanted to visit the “Tea Culture Museum”. Inside the facility, there were exhibits and a tea room where you can learn more about tea. After looking around, we had our long-awaited “Shizuku-cha” tea. The first brew… drink it with the lid off. Strong! This is amazing.

It really is! It’s good. It’s delicious. It’s not green tea, it’s more like food. It’s so tasty! This is good! Okay, second brew. Yes. What? Totally different, totally different! Yeah, totally different. But it smells really good, doesn’t it? Yes, it is. Third roast. Yes, it is. Refreshing.

Wow, the taste is totally different. The green tea taste, which was strong until a while ago, has changed to a great aroma. I liked the taste of the first and second brews. I like the third roast a lot. Then the fourth roast. The fourth roast, well, I think it’s thin, but…

The usual green tea. Yes, yes, yes. It definitely has more astringency. No, but it’s delicious. It’s so good. Then, at the end, you know, we’ll eat the leftover tea leaves. Yeah. Delicious tea. Isn’t it interesting that it’s not inedible? It’s kind of interesting. I know, I know. It’s interesting.

It’s almost like Ohitashi. I know, I know, I know! Ohitashi, ohitashi! Oh, I like vinegar and soy sauce. Yeah, it’s delicious. Delicious! You don’t get to experience anything like this anywhere but here. A short drive from the Tea Culture Museum is the “Star Culture Museum”.

Although the timing was not right and we were unable to tour the facility, we were fascinated by the petit hotel featured on the official website, which has a lot of charm.

It seems that they have a program exclusively for guests, so we would like to go there someday as an extra part of our roulette trip! The “Star Blossom Park” is located about 3 minutes by car from the Star Culture Museum.

We knew the park was closed in the winter, but just check the location for next time! This is a spot we would like to visit to feel the spring! And the last stop on our Yame trip is “Muroyama Kumano shrine”. We visited here at dusk.

When we looked up, there was a long staircase…! Oh, it’s surprisingly good, isn’t it? But it was short-lived. We were not strong enough to go halfway up the stairs, and we were completely out of breath. Some of the steps are high, so you have to be a little careful.

At the same time we felt a sense of accomplishment after climbing up the 365 steps, we also felt like we were given a boost of vitality. That’s it for this trip! So, “Yame Travel’s Otsuma-chan’s Recommended Sweets & Gourmet Ranking!” All of them are really delicious and highly recommended, so please go try them!

It seems that there are many more delicious restaurants in addition to the ones we visited on this trip.We hope to visit Yame again! If you have any recommendations for other places to visit in Yame, we would be glad to hear them in the comments! That’s all for now.
