【熊本】宮が島 編 （ Vol.311 ）／天草下島の内海に浮かぶ無人島【4K空撮】
Miyaga Island Hayaura, Futaura Town, Amakusa City Description of Miyaga Island. Located in the southwestern part of Amakusa Shimo Island, Youkaku Bay extends deep into Shimo Island from the East China Sea. The sea that extends further into the bay is called Hayaura.
It’s so deep inside Amakusa Shimo Island that it would be considered a lake if it wasn’t connected to the sea. Our destination this time is “Miyaga Island” floating at the southern tip of Hayaura.
It is located in Hayaura, Futaura Town, Amakusa City, and is a small uninhabited island with an area of approximately 0.05ha and an altitude of approximately 5m. The entire southwest area of Hayaura is the Hayaura district of Futaura Town. A shrine gate is built at the southern tip of Miyaga Island.
Although we are not sure, it is believed to be from the Aso Shrine, located about 1km southwest of the island. I would like to introduce a folk tale about Miyaga Island. In Hayaura, during the age of the gods, a large female snake lived in a large pond.
A large snake pine tree was towering nearby. The female serpent jumped up from the serpent pine, scooped up a high mountain, and threw it into the sea. It is said that a small island was born there and became “Miyaga Island”. Today I am in Hayaura, Futaura Town, Amakusa City, Amakusa Shimo Island.
