【神社仏閣ひとり旅】千葉県(佐倉~富里~成田)人気御朱印巡り3選[御朱印500名印(No.234~236)]
This time, we departed from Keisei Sakura Station. Just 1 hour from Nippori by rapid train. Go straight along the road in front of the station and turn right at the Sakura City Museum of Art at the end. Go left at the Shinmachi traffic light at the next end, then
Right at the next traffic light. Then, the precincts of the shrine came into view on the right. The deity enshrined is “Wakusansuhijin” (Kojiki). In the Nihon Shoki, it is called “Chisan Reimyo.” The guardian deity of Toyouke Hime no Mikoto, the deity enshrined at the Outer Shrine of Ise.
Although it is unknown when it was founded, it is a shrine with a long history that is recorded in books from 1050 years ago. When you go up the stone steps, there is a “Chozuya” on your right, so stop by.
When I visited on January 18th, New Year’s decorations were still being put up. Before worshiping at the shrine, cleanse your hands with water. The current shrine building was rebuilt in 1843. Please take a look at the wonderful carvings. In front of the shrine, we joined hands to express our gratitude and
Pray for world peace and for fewer disasters. Next, take a walk inside the shrine grounds from the right side of the shrine! At the back of the worship hall is the “main shrine” where the god is actually enshrined. In front of the main shrine, I gently put my hands together near the god.
If you look at the main shrine, you will see detailed carvings here as well. Now, to the right of the main shrine, there were several shrines lined up in the precincts. “Okumiya”. It is said that the returned knotted magatama is presented at the purification ceremony held twice a year.
“Hipo Shrine”. The enshrined deity is “Sukohikona no Mikoto”. To the right of the Hipo Shrine was Ebisu. “Wish string”. Tie the mizuhiki attached to the matchmaking charm with all your heart. This “Mimusubi Ginkgo” tree is said to be 800 years old.
On the right side of the hall of worship is another shrine within the precincts, Mitsumine Shrine. The deities enshrined are “Izanagison” and “Izanamison.” Fukurokuju is also next to him. In addition, “Houpo Shrine” and “Wakamiya Inari Shrine”, which were located on the west side of the shrine building
, were relocated to the east side of the shrine grounds due to the construction of a new shrine office. There is a large bench on the grounds where you can sit and rest. That helps a lot.
The shrine office opened at 9 o’clock, so we received a goshuin stamp in support of the construction of the new shrine office and mikoshigura. It is a paper craft that reproduces the Great Mikoshi. By the way, the new shrine office is scheduled to be completed in March 2025.
We plan to distribute it until then, but it may end soon. The latest goshuin information is also posted on the shrine’s official Instagram. Next, leave “Magata Shrine” and head to “Tomisato Katori Shrine”. Follow the road in front of you and immediately turn left.
Turn right just before the prefectural road and walk through the residential area. On the way, we walked down Yakushizaka, a bamboo forest. Arrived at JR Sakura Station. The train is divided into Narita, Choshi, and Chiba areas, but this time we took the train towards Choshi. The pace is 2-3 per hour.
After getting off at Yachimata Station, head towards the north exit. There was a bus stop right in front of the north exit. From here, board the bus bound for Keisei Narita Station. Transportation IC cards were available. Get off in front of Asahi Elementary School. Walk in the direction the bus was heading.
Turn right at the next traffic light. The distance from the bus stop to the shrine is 2.1km. Turn left at the four-way intersection ahead. After walking for quite a while, you will come across a prefectural road, so turn right. After passing through the forest, I looked to my left and saw a forest.
That forest was “Tomisato Katori Shrine”. We have arrived. The deity enshrined at Tomisato Katori Shrine is Futsunushi no Okami. The Spring Festival is on April 5th. The Autumn Festival is October 17th. As soon as you enter the torii gate, the “Chozuya” is on the right. It was closed on this day.
Now, say hello to the guardian dog and proceed to the shrine. A very simple shrine. Since it is basically unmanned, the amulets are placed in front of the shrine. We put our hands together in front of the shrine, expressed our gratitude, and prayed for world peace and fewer disasters.
Goshuin seals were also prepared in front of the shrine. There seems to be two days a month for company affairs, usually the 1st and 15th. There was no one there on the day I visited, so I received a goshuin stamp from a note and
Paid my first fruits fee in the box next to it. By the way, the watermelon ema is located in the tunnel of wishes on the right side of the shrine. Now, let’s take our customary stroll around the shrine grounds from the right side of the shrine to the back.
At the back of the worship hall is the “main shrine” where the god is actually enshrined. Since there is a low position, you can also put your hands together near the god. We were also able to observe the carvings being made nearby.
“Mimine Shrine” and “Asama Shrine” are quietly located to the right of the shrine building. “Mimine Shrine” is dedicated to the god of national and divine birth. Asama Shrine is dedicated to the god of safe childbirth and child rearing. There are chairs in front of the shrine where you can relax.
The precincts have a fun atmosphere with a photo spot next to the torii gate. Zodiac signs of Reiwa 6. A dragon was drawn. On the day of the event, I received the “January (Mutsuki) Moon Pilgrimage Goshuin” stamp.
You can check the latest goshuin stamps and the days when the shrine office is open on the official Instagram of the shrine. After Tomisato Katori Shrine, we headed to Narita Toyosumi Kumano Shrine, but before that, we returned to the prefectural road we had taken earlier, headed straight west, and
Decided to have lunch at this log house-style cafe. A building where you can feel the warmth of wood. We also sell wooden furniture and wooden products! The second floor is a cafe with about 20 seats. Please be careful as there are many holidays.
In addition to light meals such as curry, pilaf, and pizza, there is also a dessert menu. There is also a menu available for takeout. This time, we ordered the popular “Baguette Curry” which is available in limited quantities. Hollow out the round bread and fill it with beef curry. I’m full!
After filling my stomach, I resumed my tour of goshuin stamps. Exit the cafe and walk to the left. Turn right at the next traffic light and walk. Then we reached National Route 409 and there was a bus stop there.
Take the Keisei bus bound for Narita. A pace of one every 1 to 1 and a half hours. It’s the same bus as the one I took from Yachimata earlier. Get off at Keisei Narita Station, the last stop. Walk towards Keisei Narita Station.
Go through the underground passage of Keisei Narita Station and head to the east exit on the opposite side. Go to the Narita City community bus stop at bus stop #4 at the east exit. From here, board the Toyosumi route community bus. By the way, transportation IC cards can be used.
Get off at the Miyashita bus stop inside the rice fields. Go in the direction the bus was heading. You will see a torii gate on your right after climbing the slope. Narita Toyosumi Kumano Shrine was founded in 923, the first year of the extension of the Heian period.
The enshrined deity is Izanami no Mikoto. After bowing in front of the torii gate and proceeding forward, you will see “Haraido Okami” on your left. He is a god who exorcises sin and impurity, and we place our hands together before worshiping at the shrine.
Now, “Izanami no Mikoto” is the god of domestic and divine birth. It is said that he is the god who created the Japanese archipelago. When you get to the front of the worship hall, you will see the “Chozuya” on your left. I’ll stop by.
Before joining hands at the shrine, we wash our hands with water. “Narita Toyosumi Kumano Shrine” is also basically unmanned, but there are fortune slips and amulets in front of the worship hall! We put our hands together in front of the shrine, expressed our gratitude, and prayed for world peace and fewer disasters.
At the nearby shrine office, you can have your goshuin stamped on certain days. However, since I am generally shy, I accepted the goshuin seal that had been prepared for me. I paid the firstfruits fee in the box next to it.
There are also goshuin seals that explain myths. I want to deepen my studies soon. Now, let’s continue our customary walk around the grounds. I went to the back of the shrine building from the right side.
Then, at the back of the worship hall, you will find the “main shrine” where the god is actually enshrined. It’s dark and out of focus, but the carvings are interesting. To the right of the main shrine is Tenjin. He is the god of learning.
Returning to the approach, the blue-faced Kongo statue? Is it a remnant of the syncretization of Shinto and Buddhism before the Edo period? What is this? Please let me know if you know! This is the Koshin Tower of Sarutahiko Okami, the god of road opening.
On the day of the event, we received a “one-sided goshuin stamp “kite” for January 2020”. Check the shrine’s official Instagram for the latest information on goshuin stamps and office hours! This goshuin tour ended at Narita Toyosumi Kumano Shrine. Return to the previous bus stop and take the bus back to Keisei Narita Station.
The number of trains is 5 per day. The latest timetable is available on the Narita City website. Sometimes I could see planes landing at Narita Airport. While I was watching the planes, a bus came! On the way back, the bus stopped at the west exit of Keisei Narita Station.
