【参拝動画】四国八十八箇所第七十五番札所-善通寺-The 75th Temple of the 88 Temples in Shikoku – Visiting Zentsuji Temple
I post videos of Japan’s domestic travel and temples and shrines. If you are interested in travel, please subscribe to our channel! This time, we will visit Zentsuji Temple, the 75th of the 88 Sacred Sites in Shikoku.
We will see off the sleeper express Sunrise Seto departing from Tokyo at Zentsuji Station on the Dosan Line, the nearest station. Sunrise Seto may have extended service to Tadotsu, Zentsuji, and Kotohira on weekends. There is a guide to Zentsuji at the station building. As the word “straight” suggests, it’s really a straight line.
There were quite a few passengers getting off the train, but while I was watching Sunrise, the people in front of the station had disappeared. Follow the directions at the station and go straight west along the street in front of the station. Arrive at Zentsuji Temple in about 20 minutes on foot.
The precincts of Zentsuji are divided into the east and west temples. Enter the temple grounds from the south gate of Toin, which is located near the station. It was the 1250th anniversary of the birth of Kukai (Kobo Daishi), and the Kukai Festival was in progress.
A five-storied pagoda located just after entering from Nandaimon. It is said to be the third tallest wooden tower in Japan. I have photographed five-storied pagodas and three-storied pagodas at all temples, but the beauty of the temples is amazing. What you can see behind the five-storied pagoda is Shakado.
You can also touch the Buddha foot stone directly. The main hall, Kondo, is located in the center of the east temple. After praying, I will head to Saiin. Inside the hall is a seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai, the principal image of Zentsuji. Walk a little from the East Temple to the West Temple.
Niomon is the main gate of Saiin. The West Temple is larger than the East Temple, and the temple office is also located in the East Temple. There are many beads and sutras for sale here. Mieido is located directly in front of Niomon. Like other temples and shrines, photography is prohibited inside.
A goshuin seal of Kobo Daishi’s childhood name Mao was being awarded. After praying, take a look around the shrine grounds. A huge dead tree, Mikage pine. Hoyake Jizo-do Hall is lined with Jizo statues. It is believed that people believe in healing bruises and illnesses. After the visit, I received a goshuin stamp.
A collaboration goshuin stamp with Konpira-san, also known as Kotohira-gu Shrine, which is located nearby. Zentsuji Station, the closest station to Zentsuji, is about an hour away from Okayama Station on the limited express Nanpu, so why not visit it along with Kotohira Shrine, which can be accessed from the neighboring Kotohira Station?
