【2 泊3 日一人旅】そうだ、クリスマスの函館行こ②【雪の函館】

Good morning, this is NANO. This is the second day of my Hakodate trip. Today’s weather is cloudy and then sunny. Looks like there was a little more snowfall last night. Now, let’s get ready to go out. This is my favorite SANTA JAWS. What is this?

When I put on my jacket, I couldn’t see anything. SANTA JAWS Where did you go? ? ? Oops! I have to go soon! Today I will go sightseeing. The weather has become nice, perfect for sightseeing! There is a tram stop just a short walk from the hotel.

The fresh snow is fluffy and fun to walk on! Today I will go to Goryokaku Park. This is a very beautiful star-shaped fort ruin. I also like the view from the tram, which is typical of Hakodate! I got off at Goryokaku Koen-mae, which was the closest stop to my destination.

It’s about a 15 minute walk from here. This is Kumachan on the way. 🐻I sing about the sadness that life doesn’t get easier even if I work. These are the words of Japanese writer Takuboku Ishikawa. Goryokaku Tower will soon come into view. Arrived. The moat is frozen! Yahoo!

I will have breakfast at a nearby sweets shop. It’s 11:30 now, but no matter what anyone says, it’s breakfast time. This is “Rokkatei”. This is a famous sweets shop in Hokkaido. This store has a cafe attached.

This is an original blend of black tea. I had it straight, but the milk tea is recommended! Alright! These pancakes are for breakfast! Hehe, I’ve always wanted to try it someday. In addition to pancakes, we also have a wide selection of cakes and drinks. Add some butter to your freshly made pancakes…and some syrup. Wow, it looks so delicious 😋 Freshly made and fluffy and smells great. I’ll have it right away. Hmm! This is delicious! It’s fluffy, but you can really feel the deliciousness of the ingredients. Let’s add lots of syrup.

The syrup has a gentle sweetness, so it’s delicious and not too sweet even if you pour it all over it. The portions are quite large, so you might want to share them. (Hakodate has a lot of delicious food…) Ah! it was delicious! Thank you for the very satisfying breakfast!

See you soon, dog 🐶 I was satisfied with my breakfast, so I went to Goryokaku Tower. (Current time 12:00) You should be able to see a beautiful star shape today. 🌟Purchase your ticket and head to the observation deck! I go up to the observation deck.

A private elevator took us up to 90 meters above the ground. Fully covered with 360° glass, you can clearly see far into the distance. oh! Pure white star! cute! ! 🌟 The floor is made of glass, so you can clearly see down below. I really don’t like heights! ! scary! ! You can also learn about the history of Hakodate and Goryokaku. In no time, we were covered in snow. The scenery is becoming less and less visible…

This snow-covered landscape can only be seen during the winter. The whitish, hazy scenery is also nice. The photo spot was also completely white. 😸: Take a photo with me! 😸：! 😸：Thank you very much! There are some areas where the floor is made of glass.

When you look into it, you’ll see Santa Claus 🎅 Thank you for your hard work. It was covered in snow for a while, but gradually the sun began to peek out. It’s sunny and sometimes snowy, typical of Hakodate in winter⛄Unexpectedly, I was able to appreciate Hakodate in winter. As soon as I got off the observation deck, I noticed something that caught my attention! My favorite curry and rice restaurant! This is the curry shop of Gotoken, a long-established Western restaurant in Hakodate. I ordered the most popular “roast beef curry.”

You can choose between “sweet” and “medium spicy” curries. (Sweet: not spicy, medium spicy: spicy) I don’t like spicy food, so I chose “sweet”. This curry rice is surprisingly delicious. How does roast beef taste? How about pairing it with curry? Gotoken, where you can eat this delicious curry, has several branches in Hakodate. You can enjoy good old Japanese Western food, so please give it a try! 😋It ‘s still too delicious! Phew, thank you for the meal. it was delicious! Now, where should we go next?

Anyway, I took the tram to the western area. I came to “Jijigai”. It’s snowing! The snow is getting heavier, so I’m going to take shelter and do some sightseeing. This place is currently used as a community center, but it used to be a long-established department store. There’s something interesting here.

That’s it here. An elevator built about 100 years ago. You can take a tour by applying at the reception. Let’s travel back in time to the good old 100 years! The good old days. I board with excitement. This elevator is manufactured by the American Otis Elevator Company.

As expected from about 100 years ago, the design is both retro and modern, making it very nice. Raising, lowering, stopping the elevator, and opening/closing the doors are all operated manually. The feeling of operation will change slightly depending on the number of people, weather, temperature, etc. of the day.

It seems to be quite difficult to avoid creating a step difference between the floor and the elevator. Elevator girls, the stars of old department stores, were craftsmen…! “Now then, let’s go to the upper floor.” The elevator moves very smoothly. We are about to arrive at the 5th floor, the top floor.

Apparently he wasn’t able to stop very well today. I laughed along with the staff 🤭 The staff explained it to me carefully. The landing area on the first floor is decorated with mosaic tiles, while the rest of the floors are decorated with this magnificent marble.

What kind of shops were on the top floor? The scenery you can see from here must have changed over time. Now, let’s go back to the first floor. Still, it’s amazing that something that’s about 100 years old still works like this. I think this is proof that this building is loved.

The font for the floor number display is also very cute. 😊The old buildings are really stylish, and I love that you can feel the commitment of the people who built them. Coming soon to the 1st floor! Looks like he was able to stop it successfully this time! As expected!

It was a very fun time slip. thank you very much! Luxurious, elegant and classy. Department stores always make you feel special. There is a nice and cozy cafe on the first floor. Let’s take a short break while watching the streetcars. Enjoy warm soy milk chai. At the counter seats by the window, there were people reading books and students studying. A beloved place where locals also spend time.

The fact that it’s a place that everyone can enjoy hasn’t changed since it was a department store. Things that don’t change and things that change. I feel like there are many places in Hakodate that continue to be loved even if they change. Now, after drinking this chai, let’s go back to the hotel. I was a little tired after walking a lot.

Something interesting happened while I was on my way to the hotel. Japan’s oldest concrete utility pole! ? As I walked along, humming, I noticed some sparrows buzzing around. They were probably having a meeting to forecast tomorrow’s weather. 🐦Christmas has arrived! A wonderful night came quickly. Let’s enjoy Christmas today too!

More people came to see it than yesterday! Local elementary school students are having fun in front of me 😊 Fireworks went off, it was beautiful. It’s colder than yesterday, but so beautiful! The world where you can only hear the sound of stepping on snow is so ephemeral that you can’t believe it’s the real world. Maybe this is all a dream. Even if it was a dream, I guess that’s okay. It’s so beautiful that I can’t believe it’s the real world.

I really love Hakodate during the snow season. But I have to go back to the hotel soon. On the way home, I saw a small Christmas tree. I returned to the hotel. The time was already 22:00. I still want to watch it, but I have to go back to my room.

In that case, you should come to Hakodate again. While preparing for the bath, it’s time for a night snack! This is delicious dorayaki that I bought at Rokkatei 😋 I walked a lot so I thought it would be nice to have a snack!

Hakodate in the morning is white, cold, and very beautiful. There aren’t many tourists yet, so this pure white road is mine! 😋I headed to a coffee shop that I had been curious about. ☕The store had just opened. Wow, I really like the space…stylish! Delicious and cute sweets!

I ordered a cafe au lait bowl with plenty of brown sugar cafe au lait, Nekochan cookies, and orange cake. The aroma of coffee and the sweet aroma of brown sugar…it’s the best. 😸: Delicious! 😸: We recommend it with confidence!

The interior of the store, which is a renovated old folk house, is a stylish and relaxing space. The music that’s playing is also very stylish…! A space where you can relax and enjoy coffee and music. It’s just a stone’s throw from the Bay Area and has become a new favorite.

It’s a blizzard when I go outside! Wasn’t it sunny in the morning? This is a spectacle…! I decided to take a rickshaw to the station. You could just walk, but wouldn’t you want to do something interesting? We enjoyed chatting until Hakodate Station. Arrived safely at Hakodate Station.

Head to the shuttle bus stop for Hakodate Airport. It’s a little early, but I’m going to relax at the airport. The last seafood bus slowly started heading towards Hakodate Airport. It was a quick 2 nights and 3 days. I always feel a little lonely on the way home.

When I get home, I say goodbye to the snow for a while. It’s lonely… The bus runs through the snowy Isabi-dori. We will soon arrive at Hakodate Airport. This is the part that makes me not want to go home the most. I’ll work hard and come back to Hakodate…

So far, my plane hasn’t been delayed yet. But I’m sure I can send it since it’s the plane I’m on. There’s still plenty of time. We decided to eat the last seafood in Hakodate! So, this is my favorite fish. 🐟I ate it as soon as it arrived and it was really delicious.

So I’m going to enjoy it slowly. 🙏A snowman of memories left by someone was staring at the plane. The silver sky is really beautiful. Leave cat-shaped footprints and a message saying “😽I’ll be back.” After seeing off this plane, I will also go through the boarding procedures. As I expected, the plane was delayed.

I was able to do it slowly so there was no problem at all. The sun peeked out from behind the snow clouds, and soon it was announced that boarding would begin. Before I knew it, the snow clouds had disappeared and I headed to the plane feeling lonely. Goodbye, Hakodate, I’ll be back again.

Be sure to burn this blanket of snow into your memory so you don’t forget. The fact that I’m sad to go home is a sign that it was a good trip. I love when a journey ends like this. I have to go on another trip before I forget this feeling.

函館でのクリスマス
（厳密にはクリスマスイブイブイブですが）
大好きな場所で、クリスマスシーズンを過ごすのは
とても特別な思い出ができました。
たぶん、あの時に見たスノーグローブの中みたいな景色は
忘れることができないと思うし、
クリスマスツリーのスノーグローブを見るたびに、
函館でのクリスマスのことを思い出します。

それはそれとして、今年は雪が全然なくてびっくりしています！
観光はとてもしやすそうですが、、、
冬の晴天は、景色がよく見えるので函館山に行くのもいいかもですね！
