THUNDERSTORM and RAIN at Japanese Yatai Food Stall

The customers go out of their way, choosing this Yatai out of over 100! That makes me super happy, and I want them to come again. I was born and raised in Fukuoka, and decided to join in, making this place exciting! Fukuoka is a great place. Thank you very much! Cheers!

I’ve been running this Yatai for 17 years now. The customers go out of their way choosing this Yatai out of over 100! And that just makes me super happy. I’m grateful they choose us, and I want them to come again. So I am doing my best that everyone can have a great time.

Only 15 people can fit into our Yatai. But even then, it sometimes happens that people have encounters. 20 marriages were formed here at this Yatai. I’m a laid back person, so I’d just say stuff like “Why don’t you to start dating?”. I believe it’s important too to create a fun and exciting atmosphere!

I was born and raised in Fukuoka, and decided to join in, making this place exciting! Fukuoka is a great place. It’s already been 17 years since I started running the Yatai. And I’m also the head of the Fukuoka City Tenjin area restaurant association. Promoting Fukuoka from the Tenjin Yatai, that is my goal!

I’m from Busan, Korea. It was delicious! Fried Ramen is a quite rare dish. And I had Mochi Gyoza, and was wondering why the texture was so springy. They are actually made from Mochi rice cake! I’m worrying here till 2am! 2am is last order time! Till 2am. Making an omelet roll here!

It’s made with okonomiyaki dough and yam. I’ll fry both sides, put pollack roe and veggies inside, then roll it up. The dish name is “Guru-maki”, which is a wordplay on ‘Gourmet’ and the Japanese word for rolling, ‘guru’. I can make 3-4 dished from one ingredient.

And I arrange these, making them into local ‘Hakata’ style dishes. Cheers! Omg what is that!! Pollack roe twins~ Delish! The food was so good! We’re the 4 ladies! Love Yatai Kiryu! They’ve created a Yatai idol group! It usually happens: People meet at Yatai and become friends!

So here we have two friend groups that melted into one! They became close since they’re close in age. Owner, see you soon! Thank you very much! Waiting for your next visit! Here’s your Ajillo.

This yatai works right through thunderstorms and heavy rain in Fukuoka, Tenjin. It’s hard work to work through the heavy rain so we returned again to shoot on a non-rainy day. We hope you enjoy!

  1. These men work so hard even in the rain. Part host, cook, bartender and road crew. They bring so much joy to their customers.

  2. That's discipline! Holy crap! And the fact their customers still came out in the rain says a lot. It's ashame you had to to cut short. Really would have like to seen the interaction with people under those conditions, but we totally understand.

  3. Enjoyed seeing this yatai. Hardworking dedicated owner/team as well as appreciative customers. Excellent. The menu was very interesting. The grilled French bread with toppings was very enticing. Thank you for the vlog.

  4. Was the thunderstorm on Nov 18? I was in Fukuoka during that period, weather was crazy, thunderstorm/heavy rain/hail/gail wind.

  6. That place could become an urban legend of power spot for love and romance.

Also that guy is greatly contributed to the repopulation of Japan. Shinzo Abe would be proud of him.
