A Tour of the Nishiki Service Area/ 西紀サービスエリアのお散歩
Hello everybody and welcome to Tamba sasayama here in kyogo prefecture and today we are going to take a tour of the nishki service area so I believe we are on the nobody side the upward side maybe going toward my zuru and uh anyway we are up here in the middle of Honshu Island
Surrounded by a really beautiful mountains and forests and there are some pretty good views of the area from this service area actually you can see we have really beautiful weather today and uh yeah so let’s take a tour of this service area and the first thing I want
To show you is this right here as you can see there’s a dinosaur and uh this area a lot of dinosaur fossils have been found here in this area and so um they have a lot of attractions especially for children to study and learn more about the history of dinosaurs here in this
Area so we’re going to see a little bit more of dinosaur things uh just inside the service area so let’s go in and take a look around of course they have a stamp for every surface area and this is what the stamp looks like and you can see here they
Have a wild boar and that’s kind of one of the local Specialties here would be the wild boar here’s the stamp and you just uh got the ink stamped right there so uh anyway Let’s uh go inside and take a look around so first of all uh this is the food court
And uh they have a lot of things with the black beans this is one of the local Specialties here in Tampa and this is what we had for lunch today actually here this is the the black bean ramen noodles but they have other things everything has black beans and uh yeah again dinosaurs
Black beans and wild boar that’s kind of the Specialties here and uh this area so here’s a cafe and bakery and unfortunately it closed yesterday this is because of a coronavirus so uh anyway you can see they have a lot of locally made um ice cream here everything black bean
Uh soft serve ice cream and so uh it’s really too bad so uh anyway here’s a question and answer information desk and then of course they’ve got a free tea water and then uh a nursery over in the corner so anyway this is a look at the food court here
And here’s another bakery or maybe it’s the same uh okay so right back there in the corner you can see it’s the Black Bean Bread that is the local specialty here foreign so it’s a special Bakery right here at the Nishiki service area where they make their own bread
And of course everything has the black bean the black beans toilets are outside I’m not going to take you over there you can see that there’s a smoking area further back in the corner that guy is really working hard putting those cans in but uh lots of vending machines here coffee tea sports
Drinks water everything that you could want thank you so here we go the The Black Bean Bread here don’t be defeated by coronavirus yeah don’t let it defeat you and I here on the on the floor you can see they have dinosaur uh footprints follow that and then here they have a
Dinosaur park corner I guess you can this is the uh the souvenir shop and they have a lot of things here with uh just follow you can see here lots of Dinosaurs the fossils and toy toys for kids And then over here it’s kind of like a convenience store uh lots of snacks and uh local Specialties of course again the black beans are everywhere anything everything they’ve got it yeah Ethan sweets sweet bread so if you don’t like Black beans I don’t recommend coming here
And then this is the uh the wild boar you can see they’ve got the little character here but uh this is kind of like jerky not beef jerky but uh wild boar jerky and it’s one of the Specialties that you should get when you come here
And this is the number one most famous thing we could see it in the bakery but this is the black bean bread and when we got here it was empty and I guess the bakery noticed they brought out more and I saw it when it was full
And I didn’t get anything but then came back about five minutes later and it was like this it was half gone in five minutes so super super popular I think people are just hanging out waiting for fresh Black Bean Bread to come out so there it is super super popular here’s the metal
Pond the melon bread with the black beans which I like I like and then they have a restaurant over here and how do you say this day sushi soba looks it’s everywhere here the easy so okay yeah so they have a restaurant here the uh Tamba vegetable cafeteria
And then here they have like a little uh I don’t know what it is it’s kind of like a corner like a small Museum about the dinosaur fossils here in Tamba and unfortunately I assume because of coronavirus it’s closed so uh unfortunately we can’t go in there but you can see it’s uh
Pretty big they’re really advertising it so there it is and it might be it might be part of that restaurant I’m not really sure it’s kind of hard to see so yeah maybe it’s a dining area for children and they’ve got posters and books about the dinosaurs you see the really beautiful views
There’s a nearby mountains and so this is on the mizuru wakasa expressway and so here’s a map and uh basically it runs across the central part of Honshu Island so down here is the Seto Inland sea and up here is the Sea of Japan and so this blue line here is the
Expressway that we are on the mizuru wakasa expressway and so we are here at the Nishiki service area and you can see it goes all the way up into Kyoto prefecture and into uh hukui prefecture yeah so is she easy yeah isn’t she soba is from
Here so not too far from where we are now and it’s famous for the the second always okay that’s the second oldest clock in Japan that’s right there yeah and so yeah there’s a lot of stuff to see and do it’s not as a very popular place with International tourists but
There are really beautiful places uh to visit and uh for example Ines famous for these boat houses very old traditional Town fukuchi Yama Castle is super famous actually uh for that bridge and then over in hukui prefecture uh the mikatagoco the five lakes in uh the Mikata area of uh
Kukui prefecture and then over in Obama City very very beautiful place you can take a boat ride to see some of the rock formations and this Temple here what’s it called tsuji is a very very beautiful and then of course uh some beaches so a lot of things that you can visit easy
Access from this highway and then the next thing we’re going to see is the dog run and it’s only for pets so humans you’re out of luck it’s a very peaceful area and then here’s this castle ruins symbol of food make that okay so maybe these are ruins of a castle Yama
It’s a replica okay okay anyway we’re in uh Thomas yeah right over there it’s a wild boar so here it is this is the dog run and again they’ve got the uh the rules and the etiquette and things to follow and then here it is it’s open from 8 A.M
To 6 p.m unfortunately there are no dogs here right now but you can see it’s a pretty open area they’ve got an area for uh water you can put water down in that bowl right over there they also have a trash can to throw away any waste I guess
And this is going to be the last part I want to show you it’s called the nishikite kind of like the rest area here at the Nishiki service area you can see they’ve got picnic tables and uh it’s kind of hard to see because the grass has grown up a little bit but
There are some really nice views right there of the mountains in all directions so we are pretty far out into the countryside if you look it up on the map we’re in hyogo prefecture and Tamba sasayama right in the middle of Honshu Island and uh just surrounded by mountains in all directions
So pretty good view here uh this is not an observation deck it’s just kind of like a picnic area but this is the view that we have today on this very beautiful September afternoon okay so I think that’s going to be it for our video today
