横浜みなとみらいの夕暮れ散歩

Highlights Thanks for your request. Today’s walk is in Yokohama along Tokyo Bay. Minato-Mirai, Yokohama. 4:30 p.m. Dec 17,2023 Please feel free to leave a comment. I really enjoy reading them all. Thank you kindly. This is Yokohama Cosmo World.

It is an amusement park facing the Port of Yokohama, with unique attractions in the shape of ships and spaceships. The 112.5 meter high Ferris wheel is beautifully illuminated at night and is one of the symbols of the Yokohama Minato Mirai area. Japan’s climate changes dramatically with the four seasons.

In winter, the air is dry and the temperature drops significantly, but on this day, the temperature was a comfortable 10°C. Here you will also find the attractions of Yokohama Cosmo World. The Ferris wheel and roller coaster are recommended for a panoramic view of Yokohama Harbor.

This is a wedding hall located in Minato Mirai. There are many wedding halls near the Port of Yokohama. Only a small percentage of Japanese people follow a particular religion. So many brides and grooms generally choose to have their wedding ceremony in either a Japanese or Western style.

Incidentally, Christian weddings are more popular than Japanese weddings. This ropeway, called YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN, started operation in 2021. The ropeway is 1,260 meters long and offers a panoramic view of the beautiful night scenery of Yokohama’s coast.

The name of the place near the Port of Yokohama is “Minato Mirai,” and in Japanese, “Minato” means port and “Mirai” means future. Sailing ship Nippon Maru is a beautiful three-masted sailing ship built in 1930 and known as a landmark of Yokohama.

The first generation was lost in the war, but the second generation was completed in 1954. As a training ship for the Maritime Self-Defense Force, it is used for oceanographic research and educational activities for the general public.

It is also used as a sightseeing ship, and visitors can learn about the ship’s history and navigation on board. During the Christmas season, a light-themed event called “Yolnoyo” is held over a wide area along the Port of Yokohama.

The red brick warehouse here was built in 1911 using red bricks imported from England. It was initially used as a cargo yard for the Port of Yokohama. Today, it is used as a restaurant, store, gallery, and event space.

The red brick warehouse takes the architectural style known as Neo-Renaissance and is characterized by its unique appearance. The historical architecture and beautiful design of the building draws tourists to the area. During the Christmas season, a German-style Christmas market is held. Osan Bridge is illuminated. Let’s walk to there.

Elephant Nose Park was named after the small hill-like area that juts out into the sea, resembling an elephant’s nose. The Osan Bridge is a historic pier built in 1862, when the Port of Yokohama was opened.

Its name derives from the nickname “Osan” of Count Adam Lambardo (Adam Laxman) of Russia, one of the diplomats who visited Yokohama when the port first opened. The Osan Bridge is also known as a major cruise ship port of call at the Port of Yokohama.

Large cruise ships berth at the bridge and use it as a base for tourists to visit Yokohama city and surrounding areas. Yamashita Park was established to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the port of Yokohama.

Visitors can take a walk or relax on a bench in Yamashita Park, especially at sunset, which creates a romantic atmosphere. The Sea Viewing Hill Park is spread out on a hill about 50 meters above sea level. The park offers beautiful ocean views of Yokohama Port and Tokyo Bay.

The park is filled with seasonal flowers and greenery, offering scenery that changes with the seasons. Cherry blossoms in spring, higanbana (cluster amaryllis) in summer, and autumn leaves in fall are beautiful. I headed to the station once to go home, but then I remembered that I had forgotten to go to Motomachi Chinatown.

Therefore, there is no video of my journey from The Sea Viewing Hill Park to Motomachi Chinatown. Sorry. Motomachi Chinatown was formed when many Chinese moved into the area after the opening of the port of Yokohama.

It has a history dating back to the opening of the port and was one of the first Chinatowns established in Japan. It is the most extensive Chinatown in Japan, with more than 500 stores. Many of the buildings and designs are characteristic of Chinese culture, such as Chinese-style gates, carvings, and roofs.
