sub) 4K【栃木旅行】1泊2日の栃木名物グルメ旅(2日目)宇都宮餃子🥟と佐野SA限定レモン牛乳ソフト🍋【栃木観光】 Vol.70
Good morning! This is E-Ma. It starts with a beautiful sunrise (*’▽’). It was the morning of the second day of my 1 night and 2 day trip to Tochigi. The sun is bright (*’▽’). I finished a light breakfast at the hotel and checked out.
We will enter the Tohoku Expressway to head to our first sightseeing spot today. Enter from the smart IC connected to Sano SA. I will stop by Sano SA (outbound). It’s only been one year since Sano SA (outbound) was renewed. This is a very beautiful SA. It’s early so there’s still space.
“A terrace with a wide sky and sunset-colored chairs.” Can I see Mt. Fuji? I saw it (´ー`). Drive north from Sano SA. Exit the expressway at Kanuma IC. We have arrived at our first destination today. For general vehicles, park in the parking lot and walk. [Oya Museum]. A museum related to Oya stone.
It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit. Admission fee Adults: 800 yen Children: 400 yen. “Materials Exhibition Room.” Oya stone is a general term for rhyolitic breccia tuff extracted from the area around Oya-cho, Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. The tools used for mining and transporting stone were on display.
Oya stone is very light among stones. It is also soft, so it is easy to work with. Now let’s go inside the mine. You are free to take pictures, but tripods and selfie sticks are prohibited. When you go down the stairs, you will find yourself in a large space.
The huge underground space was created by excavating Oya stone over a period of approximately 70 years from 1919 to 1986. It seems that until around 1960, stones were cut by hand in this way. This underground space was carved out by human power. It has a different kind of mystery than limestone caves.
The area is 20,000 square meters (140m x 150m), which is the size of a baseball field. Works from an art exhibition were also on display. It is said that weddings, movies, PVs, etc. were filmed behind this wall. Is it like this? Absolutely not (^▽^;).
Elementary school students were visiting for a social studies field trip. The annual average temperature inside the mine is 7℃. It was a chilly 11℃ that day. Past usage results are also on display. Many works were created in this place. Now let’s go back to the real world (´ー`). “ROCKSIDE MARKET”.
There is a souvenir shop and a cafe restaurant. Now let’s move on to the next location. This area also looks like the remains of stone cut out. It took about 5 minutes by car. [Oya Temple (Oya Kannon)]. The standing statue of Senju Kannon is the oldest cave Buddha in Japan.
It is said to have been created by Kobo Daishi. Admission fee: Adults: 500 yen, Junior high school students: 200 yen, Elementary school students: 100 yen. *The amount is as of the time of shooting. Don’t you think this main hall is built in an amazing location?
Since it is an ancient cave-style dwelling, it is completely covered by a cave. It’s a little scary as it looks like it’s going to collapse (^_^;). Photography is prohibited inside the main hall. Inside the hall, there was a 4 meter long rock carving of the Senju Kannon and 10 stone Buddha statues.
There is also a garden within the grounds of Oya Temple. [Oya Park] is located 1 minute walk from Oya Temple. The remains of the Oya stone quarry remain within the park. There is a “Heiwa Kannon” statue that was created to commemorate the war dead of the Pacific War and pray for world peace.
“Peace Kannon”. Height: 27m. This Kannon statue was carved entirely by hand over a period of 6 years. Go up the stairs next to Kannon. She has a kind face (´ー`). A rear view that is rarely seen. Broad shoulders (*’▽’). May the world continue to be peaceful.
I moved to a place surrounded by buildings. This is the urban area of Utsunomiya, which is also the prefectural capital of Tochigi Prefecture. What are Utsunomiya’s specialties? . . chinese dumpling! I’m hungry (´Д`). “Miyajimacho Street” is also called “Gyoza Street”.
This street is lined with 5 stores, including a long-established and famous Utsunomiya gyoza store. There was also a monument of gyoza like this (*’▽’). I want to compare the food at various restaurants. “Utsunomiya Minmin” is a long-established store. You can get your ticket here and wait your turn.
There is a waiting space in the “Miya Parking” in front of the store. There were many people in line even though it was a weekday. I had to wait for about an hour, so I went to a nearby shrine. [Futarasan Shrine].
It is said that a god who brings good luck and victory is enshrined here. There are stairs again (;´・ω・). I went to visit. Although there is no video, there was also a “gyoza fortune” that is unique to Utsunomiya. On the way back, I walked along this promenade.
It seems like my turn has finally arrived. I waited for about an hour after the ticket was issued. Fried gyoza 330 yen. Fried gyoza 330 yen. Boiled dumplings 330 yen. We were both hungry (^▽^;). eat! The fried dumplings are crunchier than I expected. Fried dumplings are very delicious.
Minmin’s gyoza has thick skin and is chewy. The staff told me to eat the boiled dumplings by adding soy sauce directly into the bowl. It was so hot that it almost burned my mouth, but it was the most delicious thing (*’▽’). Please note that the price for eat-in has changed from November.
I wanted to go to another store [Masashi]. . It’s sold out (ノД`). It’s human nature to want to eat more when we think we can’t eat. If the main store doesn’t work, go to another store (ΦωΦ). [Gyoza specialty store Masashi Tsuruta store].
If you order take-out, they will grill the food for two people. Eat freshly baked food in your car. Masashi’s gyoza has thin skin and a ginger taste. The sun was setting early. It’s time to go home. Finally, we will stop at [Sano SA (inbound)]. Tochigi’s specialty “lemon milk”.
Although I wasn’t able to go this time, there is also the “Iwashita New Ginger Museum” in Tochigi Prefecture. “Baby Star” with Sano Ramen flavor. I’m going to try some soft serve ice cream (*’▽’). Tochiotome Soft 400 yen. Lemon milk soft serve 420 yen. Limited to Sano SA (upbound). Both were very delicious (*’▽’).
The 1 night and 2 day trip goes by in the blink of an eye. This time I ate a lot of Tochigi’s famous gourmet food (´ー`). Perhaps the best part of traveling is eating the local specialties at your destination (*´ω`). Find a tourist destination with lots of delicious food.
