Autumn leaves of Tawarayama Pass South Aso Kain, Minamiaso Village, Aso District Description of Autumn leaves of Tawarayama Pass South Aso. Mt. Tawara is the outer rim of Mt. Aso in the southwest direction, and is a mountain with an altitude of 1095 m that straddles Nishihara Village and Minamiaso Village, Aso District.

It is said that the name came from the fact that when looking up from the Minamiaso village side, it resembled a pile of rice bags stacked on top of each other.

These two villages are connected by Minamiaso Yasuragi Road (Prefectural Route 28), and the Tawarayama Pass Observatory is located near the pass (altitude 710m).

The view from the observatory offers a panoramic view of Mt. Aso, which forms an extremely rare volcanic landscape not only in Japan but also in the world, and the Aso caldera, one of the largest in the world.

Additionally, the rural landscape of Minami Aso, which stretches between Mt. Aso and the somma, is nothing short of spectacular. This time we will introduce the pampas grass grassland and autumn leaves that spread across Minamiaso Village beyond Tawarayama Pass.

Previously, I introduced the fresh green grassland, but now that the seasons have changed, the trees are turning their colors into autumn. I can’t deny that it was a little late for the leaves to turn, but please enjoy the beautiful autumn colors of the trees. Today, I am in Kain, Minamiaso Village, Aso District.

This grassland is located just down Tawarayama Pass towards Minamiaso Village. Enjoy the grassland of pampas grass and the autumn leaves. Let’s take off!
