Good morning! This is E-Ma. The forecast was for sunshine, but it’s rainingΣ(ﾟдﾟllll). A blue sky can be seen in the distance. I hope the rain has stopped locally. We are now heading to Tochigi Prefecture. This is the first day of a 1 night and 2 day trip to Tochigi.
This trip has a lot to offer. Please enjoy together until the end! The expressway exit is approaching. Get off at Sanotanuma IC on the Kita-Kanto Expressway. Speaking of Tochigi Prefecture, Nikko and Nasu Kogen are the major tourist destinations. During the fall foliage season, the area is crowded and traffic jams occur.
I decided to visit tourist spots that I had never been to before. The first destination is. [Isoyama Benzaiten] located in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture. It is said to have been built by Fujiwara Hidesato in 948 AD. Fujiwara Hidesato was a representative military commander of the Heian period who subjugated Taira no Masakado.
“Wind Cave” A cold wind blows from here (´ー｀). In the precincts of Isoyama Benzaiten, there are stone statues of snakes that are said to be Benzaiten’s incarnations. Even so, the stairs are painful (>_<). It's almost there. Although the sky is cloudy, the view is nice (*'▽'). I went to visit.
It wasn't a "bell of happiness". Let's ring it (*'▽'). It touches my heart. It is a few minutes walk from Isoyama Benzaiten. [Izuruhara Benten Pond]. This spring water has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best waters. I think the scenery would be even more beautiful during the autumn leaves season.
You can clearly see the carp in the pond with the highly transparent spring water (´ー｀). Speaking of Sano City, Sano Ramen! I would like to have it for lunch. Ogura-ya opens at 11 a.m., but there are a lot of people waiting in line (;・∀・). Charshu men 825 yen. Ramen 660 yen.
The noodles are thick and chewy and are soft. It has a texture similar to fresh pasta. The soup is very light. Next destination is Ashikaga City, next to Sano City. Arrived at [Ashikaga Orihime Shrine]. The god of matchmaking is enshrined here. There are two routes to the precincts.
Otokozaka is a steep staircase that you climb up 229 steps. Onna-zaka (Enmusubi-zaka), where torii gates in seven colors are lined up. We will climb from this Enmusubi slope. When we say matchmaking, it's not just about relationships between men and women. There are seven divine virtues. "Purple: Good management and marriage."
It was my first time to see such a colorful torii gate (´ー｀). ``Wakakusairo: Good studies and marriage.'' "Red: Matchmaking with good people." "Green: Good wisdom and marriage." "Yellow: Good health and marriage." "Blue: A good life and marriage." "Vermilion: Good work and marriage." The seven-colored torii gate was so cute (*'▽').
Then I'll go visit you. Ashikaga Orihime Shrine is also certified as a ``lover's sacred place.'' Let's ring the "bell of love" now! that? How does this sound? ? ? Two people who make noise... Here too♡ "Watarase Bridge" is also mentioned in a song by Chisato Moritaka.

It took about 5 minutes by car. [Ban'a Temple]. Dainichi Nyorai, the guardian deity of the Genji and Ashikaga clans, is enshrined here. "Big Ginkgo" is a natural monument. It would have been nice if the leaves were in autumn (^_^;). After leaving Ban'a-ji Temple, head towards Ashikaga School along this cobblestone road.
[Historic Site Ashikaga School]. ``Nyutokumon''. Ashikaga School is the oldest school in Japan. Admission fee: General: 420 yen. High school student: 220 yen. Junior high school students and under: Free. "School gate" The maple leaves were slightly colored (´ー｀). ``Andanmon''. The flower chozui is brightly colored and very cute (´ー｀). ``Yuza no Uki''.
It doesn't matter if it's too little or too much. Confucius taught that it is important to be in harmony with those around you. I didn't know what this was, so I added water as instructed. Wow Σ(ﾟДﾟ). I was defeated...(-"-). If you are greedy, it will spill. I will go inside.
It was an easy victory because the kanji were at elementary school level (*'▽'). This building is used for student lectures, learning, and school. It seems that it was used for events etc. Finally, I stamped a commemorative stamp and went home. It was time for a snack (*'▽').
I came to buy some sweets that can be said to be a specialty of Ashikaga City. [Okada Panju] .Look! This price. It looks like a small Imagawayaki. It's freshly baked and piping hot.
The outside is crispy, the inside is chewy and salty, and the sweetness of the strained bean paste is delicious (*'▽'). A sweet snack. After eating, you'll want to eat something salty (ﾟ∀ﾟ). [Imo Fry Okamoto]. Imo Fry is a B-class gourmet food in Sano City. Imo Fry 100 yen.
They fry it after ordering, so you can also get this too. It's piping hot (*'▽'). Steamy potatoes and sweet sauce. It's simple and delicious (*´ω｀). I'm staying at a hotel in Sano City this evening. A little small, but it's ok as it's just for sleeping (´ー｀).It's still like a new hotel and it's very clean.What about the water supply ? Isn't it? This place is also small, but it's beautiful. There's also a large public bath with natural hot springs, so you can take a bath there (*'▽').
There are various types of pillows next to the front desk, so choose the one that suits you best. You can sleep on the pillow.We will bring your own amenities.In the evening, you can use the ``Welcome Bar'' including alcohol for free in the lounge. The sun will be setting soon.
There are still places to go. This was the deciding factor in choosing Tochigi Prefecture for this trip. My main purpose was to see the illuminations at Ashikaga Flower Park. The illumination “Flower Garden of Light” will be held from October 18, 2023 to February 14, 2024. It was amazing.
