Photos by #CanonCreator @heykelseyj: “You may already know I’m a BIG sand dune girl. They’re my favorite landscape to take photos in, and I’ve photographed them all over the world now. So naturally, I’ve been dying to make it to this spot in Peru for years! But when I finally made it, I honestly got a little nervous to do a photoshoot here…I didn’t want it to end up looking exactly like all the ones I’ve done before.
I kept thinking to myself: ‘How can I make this photoshoot different from what I’ve done in the past at other sand dunes?’ and ‘How can I push myself creatively to make this my best dune photoshoot yet?’
This is the result! To switch it up, I leaned heavily into conceptual poses this time, flowy clothing to make the images more dynamic, and a similar, complementary color palette to the dunes themselves.
Of course, I photographed these on my camera I take with me everywhere, the Canon EOS R6. The reason I started using Canon gear in the first place was I found the colors right out of the camera to be incredible…and when you’re taking portraits, having perfect skin tones before you even go to edit is SO important. The EOS R6 doesn’t disappoint, and I know when I use this camera it’s going to be able to capture the images I’ve been dreaming of.”
