On my June 2022 trip to Svalbard in the High Arctic, I came face to face with a walrus on a remote island. Rather than taking a bunch of snapshots, I waited for the decisive moment – direct eye contact – and took a few photographs, getting down at eye level and seeing eye-to-eye with the walrus.”
