Check out what’s in #CanonExplorerOfLight @atibaphoto’s gear bag!

“When shooting skateboarding, you never know what the light or angle will be so I like to be prepared, and to be prepared is to have options. This also makes shooting in the studio even easier. I love the EOS R5 so much because it has a big chip which is great in the studio and in the field, the autofocus is amazing and the high speed frame rate is great. The video options are amazing as well.

The Speedlite EL-1 flashes are great for freezing high speed action – I like to use multiple so I can really stop down and beat the sun. They are also good for portraits on camera or off camera. Lenses – I love lenses as you can tell. I love zooms but the RF50mm F1.2 L USM is my favorite for portraits and the f1.2 lets me know I am always covered in low light. The RF28–70mm F2 L USM is a dream lens because I have a zoom that is so sharp but can perform great in low light. The RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM is the most versatile sports lens in my bag. From skateboarding to basketball I can cover so many angles and the RF version is so light!

In skateboarding the fisheye lens is a staple lens, the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM with the RF converter is great because you are not just fixed to the 15mm. My newest favorite is the RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM. It’s a fun lens for action, skateboarding and architecture and gives me a totally different perspective on lines.

I love film so I carry my first Canon point and shoot that I used in high school in 1992 called a Snappy Q – always have an extra roll of film. The Wireless Remote Control BR-E1 is great and you will use it way more than you think. And last is the skate tool. Every skater will ask for it whether it’s for adjusting trucks or setting up their board after breaking one, it saves the day. I can’t believe I forgot the wax! That’s every skater’s problem.”
