Over the years I’ve favored different lenses for different reasons, but in 2022 it’s safe to say that my current favorite is the RF50mm F1.2 L USM. Combining the focal length of 50mm with the beautiful depth of field at f/1.2 and this lens truly is something special. I use it on wedding days and during portrait sessions to show the scenery while also isolating my subject against the background. On this wedding day, I wanted to show the bride in the scene without losing her against the brightness of the foliage. The 50mm perspective gave me the sense of scene that I wanted and the f/1.2 brilliantly separated her from that background.”
