“Being here, with the feeling of being a little isolated from the rest of the world, it is a challenge to truly understand what family and friends are going through back home in Europe. Where I am, at Fushifaru, a little resort island in the Maldives, we feel the effects of Covid-19 through booking cancellations, no more international flights and an empty resort. The hospitality and tourism industry has taken an enormous hit and most hotels, including where I work, will be suspending operations or closing for a couple of months until further notice from the government. All I can say is that ‘this too shall pass’ and I really hope everyone stays safe and stays home. When you focus on the good, you get more of it. So let’s focus on recovery, strength and good health – and hopefully, lots of upcoming and exciting travels soon!”
