During the season you will find me out there working with 5 Canon EOS bodies with an array of lenses to capture all of the behind the senses, action, portraits, entertainment, etc. I often get asked why so many cameras and lenses & the answer is that I have to cover so many different things prior to game time. My responsibilities cover far more than just game action as I have to photograph for ownership, marketing, partnerships, sales, foundation, community relations and of course game day which will cover locker room, pregame, introductions, sideline, action & don’t forget about post game. In order for me to complete the task at hand you have to be ready for any & all situations with a vast number of lenses at your disposal.
I’ve had every Canon camera in their flagship line since digital was introduced in 1996 and I am now getting ready for the 2020 season working with the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III cameras which I feel is a “Game Changer” in the Canon line. With Canon’s new CMOS sensor & an updated DIGIC X image processor the tracking, detail, image quality, enhanced dynamic range, and color are incredible as well as a number of enhancements which make this camera first class. Also adding in their new WFT-E9 transmitter for wireless transmission, it just keeps getting better.
So, let’s take a look at all of my game day gear below to give you an idea of what I use during the game. Also, you may ask how I carry all of the equipment at one time, and the answer is I have two assistants with me at all times.
