My heart quickened as we came upon this male and his pride resting after having fed for the evening. I’m continually amazed at the quality of the images I can create no matter what the conditions. This photograph was created just after the sun had set at ISO: 12800! I’m old school, shot a lot of film during my days as a photojournalist, never dreamed of shooting at ISOs this high. But this allowed me to capture this male lion being himself in his pride lands, my heart still quickens when I look at this photograph. EOS 1DXMII, EF600mm f4 vII, ISO: 12800, Aperture: 8, Shutter: 1/500, White Balance 6500 Kelvin. Elephants are led by the Matriarch of the heard, this young female leads her baby to the watering hole after the Matriarch signaled. It’s so much fun watching a young baby elephant trying to gain command of their trunk and learn to use it for drinking water, adorable. Cheetahs have to be my favorite of the big cats, they are full of personality, much like a big house cat, playful, ever curious, and very entertaining to watch when they’re bored.”
