SAITAMA: Kawagoe Yokai Walking Tour 2026 – Kawagoe Hyakki Yakō | Japan

“Kawagoe Yokai Walking Tour” is an event held in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. It began as part of the 100th anniversary project of Kawagoe’s municipal establishment and continues to be held today. The event is organized by YOKAIYA LLC and supported by the Koedo Kawagoe Tourism Association. It takes place mainly around the Renjakucho area, including Taisho Roman Yume-dori Street and Tachimonzen-dori Shopping Street.

It is an interactive event where participants can freely walk around the town dressed as yokai (Japanese supernatural beings). Activities include a stamp rally where visitors interact with yokai and guided tours exploring local legends of yokai and spirits.

“Kawagoe Hyakki Yakō” is the main highlight of the event, featuring a yokai procession in which participants dressed as yokai parade through the streets of Kawagoe.
