Surviving 48 Hours Alone in My Darkest SNOW STORM — Arctic Winter Life Camping in a Van

THIS is why I live alone in the Arctic winter in a Van. Arctic Winter Life: Blizzard & Snow Storm: This was the darkest snow storm I experienced, while surviving & camping in the extreme dark of the Polar Night with heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures deep in arctic Finland. I am planning a route around Finland and back to the northern arctic part of Norway, but I fall in love with Finland, so I spend more time and get trapped in a massive snow storm in a most spectacular winter wonderland. I find new ways to get my propane heater charged with fuel in Finland, I test the starlink heating function in extreme snow weather, I cook in a snow storm with spectacular winter scenery outside, and I take you arctic shopping in Finnish stores. Cooking is going to be pasta with spaghetti sauce, and I claim the Viking invented pasta lol! My life feels incredible when conditions get really harsh and cold, and I explain why I live the entire winter in the arctic in a van. This is life, freedom, off-grid with no real worries, other than hoping I am not stranded forever in the deep snow!
I hear you are getting some serious blizzards, snow storms and extreme temperatures in the USA and Canada, stay safe and warm my friends! Storm Gianna?

Previously I have started my journey through blizzard, snow storm and extreme weather in arctic Norway, Sweden and Finland. I have explained why I choose to spend my winters camping in a tiny cabin on wheel, my vanlife van, in the harshest climates known to the world. I revealed this and many other things as I braved the elements on my snowy drive towards the edge of the frozen worlds. Check out the new exterior lights on my van, it makes a world of a difference. I took you into the ground, through the deep tunnels where trolls are awakened, I took you grocery shopping for supplies, I know you want to see the inside of arctic stores, and I make coffee of course, and it is very cold! This is now episode 11 of my Life in the arctic journey. Real cold, real storms and polar night!

Keep in mind my videos are all real, very real!

Are you a female traveler: If you’re wondering—yes, it’s a safe place to camp solo for female van travelers. Out here, no one bothers you. The people are kind, and the solitude is next level, even in the middle of town.

Grab a blanket, hit play, and ride out this Arctic storm with me—Arctic life in the harshest winters, off-grid survival style.

Sometimes I wonder if a Truck Camper would be cool so I could get up some of these cool roads to the outlook and arctic towers, let me know about that my US American, UK, Canadian & German friends who are building vehicles like that.

Part of the brand new 2026 arctic tour series:

Surviving my 4th Arctic Winter of Extreme Van Life. Solo in Hurricanes, Blizzards, Snow Storms & Camping in Extreme Cold Freezing Temperatures.

🎬 Filmed in the Arctic frontier — real storms, real solitude, nothing fake. The frozen lands as they really are.

My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapalitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America – USA and Canada.

  2. Hei! 😊 Liker veldig godt å følge med på livet ditt på vei rundt i Norge. Masse flott filming! Men hvordan gjør du det med klesvask og slike ting som man enkelt gjør i et hus?
    Mvh Ketil

  3. Appreciate your uploads,
When to watch you chill in your van when I go to sleep. Super chill and relaxing

  4. Really enjoying you latest videos, my wife and I spent 2 months in the article circle in May 2025, Sweden, Finland and Norway visited Rovaniemi, Vadso, Nordkap, Lofoten etc.
We are planning to return this year in November and spend Christmas in Finland and Sweden, just starting to plan the preparations for the trip and have two questions.

What Engine oil do you in your van to help with coping with the extreme cold ? ( I have a Fiat Ducato based motorhome which will have a diesel pre-heater).

What tyres do you have? Looking get winter tyres that can be fitted with studs.

    Thanks

  5. I really enjoyed this video! It was nice to see how happy you were amongst all the frozen lowlands!🤍❄️☃️❄️
The trees look absolutely majestic! 🌲

Have you ever been to Alaska in winter?
My friend recently moved there and sent me a picture of her front yard. Her trees are ginormous and the amount of snow they get is incredible.😮

I complain about the cold when it’s below 43°… I can only imagine what it’s like to wake up and it’s 8° … of course I travel mainly in Arizona in our RV.🌞

    Thanks for such great content!
I do enjoy when you visit the markets. It was interesting to see the process of Propane. Your propane tanks are much more attractive than ours in the US.

You have a beautiful van! That color is amazing. 🤩
I don’t think I’ve ever seen another van in that color!!!

    Safe travels!

  6. Jarl, I watch you, a strong, intelligent man, you make great choices. God Bless you…. im dealing with cold and snow, in Rochester NY. I HAVE MEMORIES FROM MY PAST. BUT IM LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE. THANK YOU FOR POSITIVE DIRECTION. KATHY

  7. Hi Jarl, may I ask you a question? I love watching your videos feels peaceful and I love to see what it’s like in different countries, always love the snow…. am in Canada…I know you worked with music in your past maybe present but do you know a recorder that I can get that projects true sound….I have an iPhone and playback of video doesn’t do justice of what the actual sound is like…I appreciate your opinion as I know you have been in the USA

  8. Hi Jarl having no computer for 3 weeks makes you realise what did I do before got to get out there and enjoy it thanks for the videos 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

  9. Que tal saludos desde españa,primero decirte que me encantan tus videos ademas de ser muy relajantes para mi.
Te queria preguntar a partir de que temperaturas bajo cero le pones el protector del radiador por la parte de fuera claro?.gracias

  10. Hello. I just have to say that you are incredibly calm in your travels you do on the winter crane. I watch your videos when you are in Norway and explore your travels. I love seeing how you are so calm and so fearless. I have to say I love your videos. Thank you for letting me follow you on your wonderful travels. / Maria.

  11. Your videos are spectacular how I envy you, I would like to be in your place I'll get there one day too and it's my dream I live in Iceland if you find yourself passing through here let me know for a beer or a coffee together

  12. Your trip to the grocery stores are really interesting thanks for including those. My observation is that the grocery stores in Finland, Norway or Sweden all put the grocery stores here to shame with the selection that they have. And you’re typically at the top of the earth.

  13. Thank you for another very well made video – pleasure to watch! Question though: do you REALLY need a fridge? 😆

  14. Next time when I change my caravan there must have the truma diesel heater. This is so rigulous that in europe we have not same gas bottle standars. Kiva kun kävit suomessa😅

  15. Bro, please – your cutting mat should be larger and also grip the counter top and not slide around, and your knife should be sharp.
You have more chance of cutting yourself with a blunt knife and that mat slipping around. 🙂
Scares me every time you cook.!!! lol

  16. I love watching the videos of you not only traveling, but camping and riding out the storms! Riding out the storms are the most exciting ones to watch! Would like to see more of those. Thanks Jarl for your hard work putting in the videos!

  17. If you had a couple of inches of cabinet space, having a small bottle of Lea and Perrins and one small, bottle of soy sauce, can add a kick in the pants to many things and w/o refrigeration. And doesn't take up much space. Just thought I would throw that out there….

  18. Watching older videos today in Michigan. 81 degrees F here today. Curious about any language barrier between Norway, Sweden, and Finland? I hear you speaking English in those countries. Is that common?
