流氷の海に集まるワシ｜オオワシとオジロワシの捕食 || Sea Eagles on the Drift Ice | Steller’s & White-tailed Eagles Hunting

流氷を求めて知床・羅臼へ。

連日船に乗って流氷とワシを探しました。
初日は流氷が少なめだったため、網走方面まで足を延ばして流氷を見に行きました。

翌日は早朝の撮影ツアーに参加。
朝焼けはあまり出ませんでしたが、約2時間半のクルーズの中で、
オオワシやオジロワシが魚を掴む瞬間、流氷の上で食べる姿など
多くのシーンを撮影することができました。

オオワシは冬になるとロシア方面から北海道へ渡ってきますが、
3月中旬頃には繁殖地へ戻っていきます。
流氷とオオワシを同時に見ることができるのは、冬の限られた期間だけです。

Searching for drift ice in Shiretoko, Hokkaido.

We joined a nature cruise from Rausu to observe sea eagles on the drift ice.
On the first day the amount of drift ice was limited, so we traveled toward Abashiri to see it.

The next morning we joined an early morning photography cruise.
Although the sunrise was hidden by clouds, we were able to witness many powerful scenes of
Steller’s Sea Eagles and White-tailed Eagles catching fish and feeding on the drift ice.

Steller’s Sea Eagles migrate from Russia to Hokkaido during winter,
but many return to their breeding grounds around mid-March.
