Kawazu Sakura 2026 is now in full bloom, so I traveled from Tokyo to Kawazu Town in Shizuoka to see Japan’s earliest cherry blossoms.

February is the best time to visit Kawazu Sakura. It’s one of the most popular cherry blossom spots near Tokyo and easy to reach on a day trip.

For this trip, I checked the bloom forecast and daily updates carefully before choosing a quiet early morning to visit. Walking along the river lined with soft pink blossoms felt like gently stepping into the beginning of spring in Japan.

After enjoying the cherry blossoms, I continued on to Atami, where I explored historic buildings, visited a retro coffee shop, and enjoyed simple Japanese meals.
