Exploring a Hidden “Otherworld” Restaurant in the Mountains of Japan
In this video, I visited the legendary drive-in spot “Irori Sanzoku (Kuga branch)” in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
A place known to every local in Yamaguchi, it appears suddenly in the heart of the mountains, marked by the glow of lanterns and torches. It’s a one-of-a-kind theme-park-style restaurant that feels like a time slip into the Sengoku period or the world of a Studio Ghibli film.
I captured the experience of biting into their famous “Sanzoku-yaki” (grilled chicken) and devouring the massive “Sanzoku-musubi” (giant rice ball). In winter, you can enjoy the luxury of eating hot food in outdoor kotatsu seats while surrounded by nature. Since they are open late into the night, the illumination creates a truly mystical atmosphere. If you’re traveling or driving through Yamaguchi, this is an absolute must-visit spot.

山口県との県境に住んでいる広島県人です。家から1時間足らずの場所なのに長いこと行ってないですねー🍙地元のスーパーでは山賊焼きのタレ売ってますよ🍗私は豆腐鍋が好きです❤しかし、コアなとこ沢山ご存知ですね😊桜の季節が凄くキレイですよ🌸

友人が来た際に連れていきました。また行きたいなぁ。

アメリカとかの大都市郊外にポツンと作ってみたい！
コタツやお座席もあって漫画も読めるネッカフェやゲーセンと銭湯も足してラーメン、寿司、天麩羅、うどんとか全部盛りで😂

初めて来た時は千と千尋の神隠しのような雰囲気を感じた。
夜の山の中にいきなりコレが現れるからなぁ・・・
山賊ね。広島市内でコンパして締めで行ってたな(30年前)😂で、良い感じに成ったら帰り道の🏩へイン😅。今はたまに家族で行きます😊
因みに、ここは現金しか使えんけぇ、お越しの際はお気をつけを！

屋外でこたつで食べれるのが良いんだよなあ…
昔、何度か行った事あるよ。食事は美味い。
雰囲気も良い。
炭で焼くけー、余計に美味いんよね。
ガスの成分には水素が含まれとって、それが燃える時に酸素と
結合して水が発生するんと。
じゃけー、ガスで焼くと食材が水っぽくなるらしいんじゃけど、炭だと、それが無い。
母が山口出身なので帰省の際にはよく行きました。子供の頃はあまり食べないので母と山賊焼き、おむすびをはんぶんこするんです。私が好きな様に食べ散らかしたのを母が片付けるわけです。改めて親の優しさを実感しますね。
現在私はアラフォー、母も70代半ばとなり遠出が出来ない身体になってしまったので、もう一緒に行くことは無いんだなと思うと淋しい限りです。
