Toyota City Night Walk: Coming-of-Age Day Eve and a Festive Downtown
I’m heading back to my family home in Kobe on a slightly delayed visit—and while I’m at it, I’m also setting off on a trip to circle Shikoku.
From Yamanashi, I traveled through Nagano and into Aichi Prefecture, finally reaching Toyota City. Snow started falling around the Ina area in Nagano, so I was a bit concerned, but by the time I arrived in Toyota, there was no snow at all—and I felt relieved.
It was the day before Coming-of-Age Day, but many municipalities hold their ceremonies on Sunday. Toyota City seemed to have its Coming-of-Age Ceremony on this day as well. I passed many people in kimono and formal outfits, and outside restaurants I saw groups happily reuniting and celebrating. The whole city felt a little brighter and more festive than usual.
