沖縄は空手発祥の地。その伝統と技を学べる「沖縄空手会館」では、展示施設で歴史を学び、瓦割り体験や空手教室で実際に技を体感できます。ショップでは空手グッズを手に入れ、レストランでは沖縄そばを味わうことも✨
毎年10月25日の「空手の日」には、特別道場で奉納演武を間近で見られる貴重な機会も。
また、那覇市首里・崎山公園に立つ「首里手発祥の地碑」は、沖縄空手古武術の礎を築いた先駆者たちを称える記念碑。佐久川寛賀、松村宗棍、喜屋武朝徳、知花朝信などの名が刻まれ、200年以上続く首里手の誇りを今に伝えています。
現代では「沖縄小林流」として受け継がれ、先人たちが生み出した「型」や「技」は今も多くの空手家に伝えられています。

“Monument of the Birthplace of Karate and Kobujutsu” and “Okinawa Karate Kaikan”

Okinawa is the birthplace of Karate. At the Okinawa Karate Kaikan, you can learn its traditions and techniques, explore its history through the exhibitions, and experience the art firsthand with activities such as breaking tiles and participating in Karate classes. The shop offers Karate gear, and the restaurant serves Okinawa soba for you to enjoy ✨
On October 25th each year, “Karate Day” offers a rare opportunity to witness an inaugural dedication (ceremonial performance) up close at the special dojo.
In addition, the “Shurite Origin Monument” at Shuri Sakiyama Park in Naha City stands as a tribute to the pioneers who laid the foundation for Okinawan Karate and Kobudo. Names like Sakuwa Hiroka, Matsumura Soken, Kyan Chotoku, and Chibana Choshin are inscribed, passing down the pride of Shurite that has lasted over 200 years.
In modern times, it is preserved under the name “Okinawa Kobayashi-ryu,” and the “kata (forms)” and “waza(techniques)” created by the ancestors are still passed down to many Karate practitioners today.
