The Hotel Associa Takayama Resort is a spacious hotel in Takayama with large rooms. Every room has views of the Japanese alps! There’s a large spa wing with private baths, and lots of facilities including karaoke, a souvenir shop, lounge bar, restaurants and sake vending machines. It’s on the edge of town, but there’s a free shuttle bus to the station that’s very convenient (only 8 minutes), and free luggage forwarding from the station when you arrive, so you can go out sightseeing straight away. Thank you to JR Central for providing my stay at the hotel (all views are my own!).

This is a wonderful resort hotel.
Also the free bus service from Takayama station is excellent.
Nice view of the Hotel resort there in Takayama, Japan Amy! Looked so amazing and beautiful! Cheers 🍻for sharing!
On my first trip to Japan, I had my first ryokan and first onsen experience ever in Takayama. It was at the end of February and it was snowing, it was a private bath on the top floor with amazing views of the snow covered town and it was a great experience.
What I like at the hotel you stayed at is the bath area – that looks stunning. Otherwise, I would prefer to stay in a more central location and a traditional (or very modern) place.
I'm curious… when I went to Japan a few years ago I noticed wheat bread was non existent! Everywhere they only served white… do you have any idea why that is?
I’m quite partial to a yuzu sake! Jealous of your accommodation, though – I stayed in the Chisun Grand Takayama, back when it was still a Best Western!
The resort hotel looks amazing.
I always appreciate and enjoy the sheer detail you go into whenever you review a hotel or an area you sitesee in. Things you wouldn't see on a website or any travel show. My favourite of the video was learning about how the cafe accepts luggage and transports it to the hotel. I would even pay for that service!. The bath and buffet looked glorious
Awesome job Amy with the Japanese vlog
Great video, as always. Sumptuous hotel, and so spacious by Japanese standards. Was that Loch Lomond played at the end?
Looks great! We will definitely check it out for our next visit!
The name of the karaoke room, "Jack and Betty," is a nostalgic name for many Japanese people. It is a name that appears in the textbooks of junior high school students, who first learn English.
Such a nice and comfortable onsen with that alluring rising steam above the water and all those trees in the background… ❤
Now I really want to go back to Nippon.
Love the view, imagine that in winter or autumn ❤. Nice hotel.
Phil seemed to really enjoy the yuzu sake, I hope he was able to try the Funasaka Yuzubee from the Funasaka brewery. If I had a third case to bring home, it would have been full of that
Purin for breakfast? Livin' the dream!
This looks lovely. Ive a few tattoos that are on my ribs, hips so hidden normally but not at an onsen, so knowing there’s alternatives is great!
Just got back from my first Japan trip last week and your videos were a life saver! Followed so many of your reccs (especially as a vegetarian). Now I have a new place on the list for next time!
Hi amy. Thanks for your advice for my 2019 trip. Met Danny choo and you in 2018. Had long covid insomnia and a chipped tooth😢. Returning japan when more healthy. Sat a Ferrari after japan felt like lewis hamilton. Please do a video on Tokyo F1. Thought of a Japanese tattoo.
It makes me so happy that you're getting supported to make your most valuable content. You always make such top quality and thorough guides with the perfect cozy Amy touch.
What a beautiful view from the hotel! I love how happy Phil was with his yuzu sake hehe, so cute. And wow purin for breakfast, nice!
i guess you cant use the public onsen because of tatoos?
I have booked this hotel for November end for a day. Looking forward to staying here. Nice video.
How early do you need to reserve the private bath? Is the only option for private bath? Till when it remains open at night and when does it open in the morning.
It's good to see that the breakfast food is labeled in English too.
Hi, I think you mentioned in the Takayama videos that you were there in June. We will be spending 4 weeks in Japan again from Mid May to Mid June. Just wondered how you found the weather during this trip ? Google suggests this time is of year is a ‘rainy season’
