  1. Chai, prefer left for me but one of my habits is booking multiple Hotels so we can get the full experience (and if I pick a lemon, don't have to put up with it for too long:) Great vid!

  2. I think that tourists really really need to get over the touristy/not-touristy thing. Fun fact, the smaller islands (let's use Lanta and Lipe as an example), are MORE touristy than a place like Phuket, as they have less year round population and are developed almost exclusively to cater to tourists. A bamboo hut and a resort are both touristy all just the same. Look around if there is more of a permanent settlement and economy outside of tourism, which on smaller islands in Thailand there is not. But, good news, that doesn't mean that they're not all super fun to go to and really breathtakingly beautiful, each in their own way, which is why it would be nice if folks weren't so preoccupied with it, plus probably less stress for them

  3. On the grape vine….(Japan) and Thailand, followed by the rest of the world, to ban live streamers! ๐Ÿ™This will to prevent 'influencers' from spoiling travelers from discovering new and exciting places.

  4. I would argue turn left with a family vs beer/smoking/tic tok. I have never been a sit on the beach person. I think you need to get back to your fiancรฉ- take a rest between travel areas- maybe a little homesick. This video had none of your usual hikes and exploration. I enjoy Thailand for its people/culture-wife isaarn with our 3 kids. I love the reality of traveling Thailand or any many other countries I have visited. Being drunk/stoned or connected to a device kinda defeats the purpose of travel and experience. I am at this special place, but are you really โ€˜thereโ€™. More concerned with a picture and making sure everyone knows it. Paddy you really need to learn some Thai ๐Ÿ˜‰. If you can , bring your girlfriend next time- the Thai interactions would add to your videos.

  5. Thank you Paddy, the west side is also not my vibe. I was there, first time, in the 90s on lonely beach. there was no Pier. We had to walk to the beach with our backpacks on our head. I belong to the backpackers, who love Thailand back then. Thanks for your Videos. I really enjoy travelling to Thailand. But the beaches are no longer my thing. I wish you all the best for the new year and I'm looking forward to your videos next year. ๐Ÿ˜ Gabi from Berlin

  6. Hi Paddy as always loved your videos but – I have to disagree with you regards the Siam Beach hotel on Lonely Beach. I went in March 2023 and yes it was run down but the beauty of that was it didnโ€™t attract a lot of tourists. The part of the beach in front of the hotel was so quiet with people just strolling past now and again. We stayed in a pool villa at the end of the beach with an elevated view of the sea (you actually stood in front of them) for ยฃ60 a night and for me it was an idyllic place to stay. We turned a blind eye to the areas that needed renovating. The staff were excellent and breakfast was basic but acceptable. A walk further along the beach brought you to a busier spot which was how you described it. The Nature hotel there had amazing food and very rustic. We also visited the east coast which was like the old Thailand amazing but was quite isolated and you definitely needed transport. We took a private boat trip around the coast ยฃ30 from 11am till 4pm! I like to experience a bit of both sides of the island. Even White Sands beach has a quiet idyllic area if you walk for about 20 minutes to the end of the beach. I think Koh Chang is my favourite island which still has the Thai charm but conveniences of the resort areas if you donโ€™t want to drive. Youโ€™ve made me want to go back again now and check out further down the south coast ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  7. I actually love the fact that you show your emotions good or bad. I have to say that I had the similar experience on that same island. It's definitely an island that I love and dislike at the same time. Merry Christmas Paddy

  8. Agree with you about El Barrio. Kae bae is a decent area to stay in general but I like the look of some of the other beaches you showed more south.
Castaway looked amazing for a bit of a treat!

  9. I spent 3 months on koh chang almost 20 years ago. Loved it but always thought lonely beach sucked. No vibe at all. Just cheap skates getting stoned. Not my vibe at all

  10. Your first mistake was staying at Lonley Beach tbh best to avoid that area but maybe that's just me, Flora Resort is ok and there's an amazing hotel with an infinity pool at Bangbao can't remember the name.

  11. Flora resort is good place to stay imo, and there's an amazing hotel with an infinity pool at Bangbao can't remember the name, but it's just a little far from everything else which isn't the worst

  12. Bro went to rural Thailand and complained that amenities are not up to par with western hotel spots. Dont expect shit to be always perfect for tourist. Lmfao

  13. Itโ€™s got the right mix of both. Gutted I cancelled because of the UK foreign office warnings. PS, I canโ€™t stand sitting anywhere near the boring bstds smoking weed, normally by people with no personality

  14. I will never return to this island again while it is full of chained elephants. I was on the island for 8 hours…that was the time it took to arrive to the hotel, rent a motorbike to start exploring the island and see dozens of elephants being ridden by tourists or chained in precarious conditions. I took another ferry and left extremely disappointed. Worst island in all of Thailand.

  15. bang bao southern tip of the island is paradise and full of local eatery spots that cost next to nothing. i stayed at the bhuvarin resort which was luxurious! the Oasis i went to daily for pad gra pow and a berry bliss bowl a lovely jungle type spot to chill and soak up the scenery with a nice salt water pool to swim in!

  16. Lol wish you had put this out a few weeks ago, we have a place booked on the northern part of west side. sounds like the worst part now

  17. My experience was similar a disappointment, tacky tourists. I wish people would abandon this image of white sand, blue seas, and palms trees. Yes it looks pretty in the pictures, but paradise has been found on every Thai island and then overrun. Yes Ko Kood is better, but quite sterile culture wise. I donโ€™t travel thousands of miles to sit next to mainly Europeans, I can hop over the channel for that. I lived in Thailand for a few years, like most things, after a while too hot, too many mosquitoes, no real cools season, always feeing an outsider. I do still visit because I love the provinces for a month or so, very nice and chilled, love the food, love the Thai people. Thanks for sharing your honest opinion. Some will like it others will be mortified you have spoilt the dream with a dose of reality!

  18. Just missed you Paddy on Koh Mak and Chang mid Dec. First time on Chang, so turned right stayed at Awa (shower still cold ๐Ÿคฃ) then got a quiet place right on the beach. Will go left or south next time. You inspired my choice thank you Paddy, Howay the Toon YNWA

  19. Hey Paddy great video. Koh Chang is my absolute favourite spot in the world. But you 100% need a scooter whilst there. My wife and I travelled the entire island and found so many amazing places to chill on the many incredible beaches. Great food everywhere.
We were based in Kai Bae which is very convenient for anything you could want and a central location. My wife and I get caught up in our own company and adventures and found Koh Chang adventures some of the best Iโ€™ve had.

  20. Lonely beach looks amazing paddy. Not sure if I'll be turning right paddy. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Get back out to the Province's. Get to khanom

  21. Stayed at Siam Bayshore just south of Lonely beach 20 or so years ago before they built it up a bit fantastic part of Koh Chang.
35 years ago Koh Samet was a dream of an Island (now ruined) But Koh Chang doesn't look as if its changed much and I am glad to see this! "I wish people would stop saying this is what Koh Samui was 20 years ago" you need to try 30-40 years ago!

  22. Hi Paddy could you please make a video about Koh Phayam
A fantastic island that has not yet been overgrown with hotels and resorts and where you have a nice laid back vibe
