After a super jam-packed day from Da Nang to Hoi An, (Day 2) [MINUKEE] Today we’re heading out on a tour to Cham Island~! [MINUKEE] Cham Island is an island near Hoi An [MINUKEE] I heard this tour isn’t just water activities—it also includes exploring the village, so it sounds fun On my 8th trip to Vietnam, weaving through motorbikes to cross the street is now second nature I hopped on the tour bus [MINUKEE] But it’s raining… [MINUKEE] And it’s kinda chilly.. We can finish this island-hopping tour safely… right..? At first I was alone on the bus, but before I knew it, it was packed with the group [GUIDE] Came alone and staying at Centre Hotel… [GUIDE] Lee Min… Lee Min Nut? I’m not a nut—it’s MINUK.. They handed out one card each at the pier. I’m keeping it as a souvenir~ I heard there wouldn’t be many Koreans… so why is 90% Korean..;; (From here on, I suddenly got EXTREMELY quiet..;; lol) Finally, we’re taking the boat to Cham Island! Oh… we were supposed to give that card back when boarding..😭 My souvenir is gone😅 Cutting through the choppy waves—Cham Island, here we gooo! [MINUKEE] We made it to Cham Island (Everyone around me is Korean, so my voice gets super timid) [MINUKEE] But the weather is sooo cloudy.. I’m not sure we’ll be able to see much underwater with it this overcast.. Starting this Cham Island tour with a weird anxious vibe… let’s go Before the hopping tour, we do a little guided walk around the island First stop: the Cù Lao Chàm Marine Protected Area Exhibition Center
(KHU BẢO TỒN BIỂN CÙ LAO CHÀM) They have marine creatures on display… kinda grotesque..😳😅 We even draw water from a well in the village Now we head deeper into the little alleys inside the village A classic countryside grassy path appears This is Hai Tang Pagoda, a Buddhist temple where people prayed for fishermen’s safety
(Chùa Hải Tạng) Our guide gave each of us a cup of warm tea A sudden 1-on-1 Vietnamese lesson [MINUKEE] (awkward laugh) I memorized the Vietnamese phrase the guide taught me to use later when I’m drinking lol Now it’s finally time to jump into the ocean! This is the snorkeling spot Alright, I’m getting in for real! (SPLASH) (Went a bit deep and got mildly panicked) So… what’s it like under the sea at Cham Island? The second I dipped my face in, it was nonstop thumbs-ups👍 I was worried because it was rainy and cloudy, but the visibility underwater was amazing💙 Fish were greeting me everywhere🐟 I even met some rainbow-colored fish!🐠 I didn’t bring a waterproof camera, so I’m filming on my phone and the focus is SO badㅠㅠ Sorry😭 There were tons of fish and pretty coral, but my footage all came out like this..😢 I didn’t expect much, but the water was so clear that I’m freaking out (in a good way) About 20 minutes in the water… my face suddenly looks miserable.. I suddenly got super seasick and thought I was gonna die..ㅠ Finally escaping the seasick ocean [MINUKEE] Ugh, I feel like I’m dying from motion sickness.. [MINUKEE] It suddenly hit me really hard and my stomach feels awful Even if I’m seasick, I still gotta eat^^ A cute baby kitty who came running over after smelling food😻 I used to be in the Navy, you know So I know that when you’re seasick, eating something solid actually helps That’s why sailors on ships eat four meals a day Lunch was included so I expected NOTHING… but this was ridiculously good The two guys at my table kept ladling soup for everyone… so kind🥹 (So shocked by their kindness that I dropped my chopsticks) (Sigh… why am I so clumsy..) (Jealously watching the kind guys and a foreign traveler chatting away in English) [MINUKEE] Is your friend an English major? Turns out he studied abroad—that’s why his English is so fluent Moments like this make me swear I’ll study English… but I only ever swear..^^ Finished eating—now it’s free time! [MINUKEE] This is heaven. This is heaven. They have showers here, so we can quickly rinse off the seawater Changed into fresh clothes… shall we lie down now? I’m gonna order a coffee and really chill😴
(Coconut coffee 40,000 VND ≈ $1.52) It was cloudy, but that also meant it wasn’t as hot—so it was actually nicer! (coping) Watching these energetic youths play in the water too Staring at palm trees, zoning out… and then taking a nap [MINUKEE] Time to head home~ [MINUKEE] Bye, Cham Island~👋 I’ll come back again when it’s sunny~ Why is it clearing up on the way back..? lol Before I knew it, we were back to the familiar Da Nang scenery [MINUKEE] We’re back in Da Nang now [MINUKEE] You know how it is—long rides make you hungry fast.. [MINUKEE] I’m starving, so I’m gonna grab something to eat before going back to the hotel [MINUKEE] I’m getting bánh xèo [MINUKEE] And I’ve never tried nem lụi before, so I’m ordering that too [MINUKEE] I heard this place is famous for bánh xèo [MINUKEE] Oh, I guess it’s tucked further inside Following a narrow alleyway in And here it is—Bánh Xèo Bà Tuyết, with that iconic yellow vibe! I ordered shrimp bánh xèo, nem lụi, and beer too [MINUKEE] The Cham Island tour was SO fun [MINUKEE] The water was way clearer than I expected [MINUKEE] And lunch was actually really tasty [MINUKEE] At lunch I sat with two Korean guys and one foreign traveler—four of us [MINUKEE] The two Korean guys were so nice and considerate [MINUKEE] One of them even helped the foreign guy pick up grilled fish with his chopsticks [MINUKEE] I came alone so it was a bit awkward, but they even said bye to me—so I was really grateful [MINUKEE] And chilling during free time after lunch made me so happy [MINUKEE] I think the Cham Island tour is totally worth doing [MINUKEE] 33,000 KRW including lunch (≈ $22.36) doesn’t seem bad at all For a different kind of Da Nang trip, I 100% recommend the Cham Island tour!👍 Shrimp bánh xèo loaded with shrimp has arrived! (50,000 VND ≈ $1.90) [MINUKEE] They gave me a ton of veggies too Nem lụi came out right away too (80,000 VND ≈ $3.04) Let’s eat~!😋 First, place the bánh xèo on the rice paper like this Pile on all the veggies Roll it up, dip it in the sauce, and boom—eat deliciously! INSANELY good✨ Dip in the sauce one more time and send it straight into my mouth It’s so good I’m genuinely shocked [MINUKEE] I’ve had bánh xèo about ten times in Vietnam And this place is #1👍 [MINUKEE] The shrimp bánh xèo itself is super savory and crispy [MINUKEE] But the sauce—this sauce is insane [MINUKEE] Usually they give you nước mắm, but this one’s different It’s a brown sauce that tastes even richer and nuttier than nước mắm The bánh xèo is great, but the sauce is the real kick—seriously🥹 And now… my first ever nem lụi Pork skewers with a texture kind of like meatballs! Highly recommend🤩 They say you wrap nem lụi in rice paper with veggies too, like bánh xèo So what does wrapped nem lụi taste like? Wrapped like this and—boom—INSANELY good again!! Nem lụi was a perfect match with this sauce too Now I’m gonna do a collab: nem lụi + bánh xèo Since it’s a collab, I’m loading it up with even more veggies Roll it up carefully one more time And now, a big bite Chewy nem lụi + crispy bánh xèo = happiness exploding in my mouth😍 [MINUKEE] Since I was eating so well, they gave me extra veggies and sauce [MINUKEE] No but seriously—this sauce is so good. The best, the best And just like that, I found one more reason to come back to Da Nang
(Total 150,000 VND ≈ $5.70) [MINUKEE] After swimming, beer, and stuffing myself with good food… I’m sleepy now (food coma) [MINUKEE] I need to go back to the hotel and fully recharge (1 hour 30 minutes later) [MINUKEE] I think I need to eat my favorite pho at least one more time [MINUKEE] So… I’m going to eat pho again~ [MINUKEE] Feels like all I do is eat.. [MINUKEE] But… I’m hungry.. [MINUKEE] I guess lying down helped me digest everything again(?).. (Proof I’m a true foodie) [MINUKEE] I’m heading to my favorite pho spot: Phở Cù Hà Nội [MINUKEE] I always get beef pho, so this time I’m trying chicken pho Ordered chicken thigh pho! Cozy-looking chicken thigh pho is here! (50,000 VND ≈ $1.90) As expected, Phở Cù Hà Nội’s broth is on another level And that chewy chicken thigh texture? So good A veggie addict always loads up on greens But honestly… at Phở Cù Hà Nội, the beef pho is better than the chicken (just my opinion lol) [MINUKEE] This is the Han River at sunset~ [MINUKEE] I’m gonna take a long walk along the river to help digest Dogs out on a river walk looking happy—so cute🐶🤎 Local kids were enjoying the river too, like this [MINUKEE] Wait, people fish here too?! (that’s so cool) [MINUKEE] I love that Da Nang has a river running through it—it’s such a vibe [MINUKEE] And if you go just a little farther… there’s the ocean and beaches too! Being able to enjoy BOTH the river and the sea is a huge charm of Da Nang✨ And right after saying that… I’m heading to the ocean now💨 Every time I ride a Grab bike mixed in with locals, I feel the local vibe so hard🤩 A bicycle is riding on a motorbike😂 Guess even bicycles are tired of commuting, so they’re taking a motorbike homeㅋㅋ I can even see the Dragon Bridge sparkling in the distance Passing through Da Nang’s dazzling night streets… and finally arriving at the beach! I arrived, but the driver suddenly stopped me Turns out he was asking me to leave a 5-star rating lolㅋㅋ [MINUKEE] He asked me for five stars lol [MINUKEE] Alright, I’ve teleported to My Khe Beach🏖️🌙 I’m gonna enjoy the Da Nang night at My Khe Beach! [MINUKEE] There’s a bar here, and I loved it so much last time that I came back Back again at Paradise Beach Bar because I loved it so much last time [MINUKEE] Wow… it’d be AMAZING to lay down here with a drink They didn’t have bean bags last time… if I lay here and zone out at the ocean, I’ll be done for😆 Ordered my love right away: Long Island Iced Tea (140,000 VND ≈ $5.32) [MINUKEE] My beloved Long Island is here I love Vietnam because they make cocktails STRONG😇 [MINUKEE] Whenever I drink cocktails, I always get a “Long Island Iced Tea” [MINUKEE] It has a crazy mix of different liquors [MINUKEE] Tequila, vodka, gin, and rum—so the alcohol content is super high It hits you fast 😉 This is the My Khe Beach chill time… with a cocktail in hand You can see people playing in the night ocean too And next to them—My Khe Beach’s sparkling night view✨🌙 I loved this whole vibe of everyone enjoying the night sea Just scrolling on my phone and chilling like this… pure happiness This must be why I ended up coming to Da Nang for the third time😍 After fully resting, now I’m heading back to my hotel Da Nang is beautiful at night—not just the sea, but the riverside too🌃 [MINUKEE] After that cocktail, I’m craving a little more alcohol [MINUKEE] Right across from my favorite Phở Cù Hà Nội is “Phở Bắc Hải” They have small-size menu options here, which is kind of interesting [MINUKEE] There’s a Vietnamese beer I like the most It’s Saigon beer🍺 [MINUKEE] And my favorite is Saigon Special [MINUKEE] But not many places actually sell it I looked it up and apparently Saigon has a lot of versions—Lager, Special, Export, Chill, Gold, and more! PHỞ GẦU (small size) is here! (40,000 VND ≈ $1.52) I didn’t expect much since it was “small,” but there’s actually a lot of meat and noodles I always went to Phở Cù Hà Nội across the street, but wow… Phở Bắc Hải is really good too?! Why a greens addict loves Vietnam… no matter where you go, there are herbs everywhere..💚 [MINUKEE] I seriously love greens, so I eat it by building a whole “herb mountain” like this [MINUKEE] And it makes the broth smell and taste way more fragrant Stir-fried veggie noodles are here!
(MÌ XÀO CHAY 45,000 VND ≈ $1.71) This place was a stir-fry noodle gem… the veggie aroma and nuttiness were insane.. Two cans of beer down too—last meal in Da Nang complete!
