Tokyo Vlog | Ep. 2
Solo Trip to Tokyo | ep. 2 It’s cloudy this morning on my third day in Tokyo 😭 What I need right now is a quick energy boost 💪 I have a sushi reservation for lunch today, so I’m heading there now. My reservation’s at 11, but I’m running a bit late, so I’ll try to move quickly! I definitely got my money’s worth out of my 72-hour subway pass 😆 I forgot my AirPods for two days straight, but finally brought them today! 📍Umegaoka Sushino Midori Shibuya
You can’t come to Japan and not eat sushi, right? This sushi looks absolutely insane ♥️ The fish was thick, fresh, and so delicious!! I ordered less rice thinking it might be too filling, but the fish slices were huge, so I still got full ㅎㅅㅎ That just shows how generous the portions are—great value for money! I booked online in advance, so I didn’t have to wait. But people without reservations were lining up about 20 minutes before opening. If you plan to come, I definitely recommend booking ahead! Time is precious when you’re traveling ♥
I’m such a “Power J” — always recommending reservations for everything Even though it’s still morning, I just can’t skip a draft beer lol. Maybe it’s because I’ve had so many amazing beers lately, but honestly, this one wasn’t super memorable. Finished strong with dessert before heading out! 📍GU Ginza
Came back to Ginza to finish the shopping I couldn’t do yesterday. Finally grabbed the leather jacket that’s been on my mind since yesterday 🥰 Today I’m heading out of Tokyo for something special~~~~! A brewery tour, of course!
I’m waiting to transfer trains to the Suntory Brewery right now, and I grabbed a Starbucks latte from 7-Eleven because I was so thirsty. This train is interesting — it has women-only cars! So fascinating~ I’m going to the Suntory Beer Factory today, and since I love beer, I always try to visit breweries whenever I come to Japan. I heard there’s a Suntory factory near Tokyo, so I had to check it out! It’s in the suburbs, so it takes about an hour and a half to get there. They even have a free shuttle bus from the station to the factory entrance! So even though it takes some time, it’s a super easy trip overall 😀 Unlike busy Tokyo, this area is calm and peaceful—totally my vibe. Funny thing is, only two of us came alone—me and one Japanese woman Unlike other breweries, there weren’t many foreigners here at all! Most of the visitors were middle-aged Japanese men.
So yeah… I felt a tiny bit awkward haha. Luckily they had a translation app, so I could enjoy the tour without any problem! Sadly, filming inside the factory was not allowed 😭 📍Suntory Musashino Factory
So I couldn’t film anything inside… 😢 But it was still really fun — they had lots of hands-on experiences! At the end, there’s the best part — the free tasting corner! You get to try three beers: Premium Malts, Ale, and Masters Dream! But you only have 15 minutes, so you’ve gotta drink fast So please excuse me if I look a bit tipsy afterward… haha
I had three glasses of Suntory beer during the tour, and even though I only have photos, the tour itself was so much fun. The beer was unbelievably good.
Freshly brewed beer at the factory just hits different. If you’re visiting Tokyo, I totally recommend this place! It’s a bit far from the city, so plan at least half a day for it.
The staff were super kind and fun to chat with, I really had a great time there. Right now, I’m on my way from Shinjuku Station to the restaurant. Is this the right place? I think this is it, guys! Thanks to Google Maps, I found it right away. Let’s head inside and check it out! 📍Sukiyaki Ibuki
Since I made a reservation, everything was already set up for me. Just look at that beautiful meat color Here, the staff cook everything for you right at the table!
But it feels a little awkward just sitting and watching haha. Sizzle sizzle~ cook deliciously please~~ Fresh from the brewery and here I am drinking again It’s actually my first time trying sukiyaki. It kind of reminds me of Korean bulgogi in a way, but it’s saltier instead of sweet. I really liked how many veggies they added! But I feel like it would taste even better with rice haha.
Next time, I’m definitely having it with rice! And dipping it in raw egg was perfection They say it’s even better if you add udon noodles at the end, but I was way too full for that this time ㅠㅠ
If you come with someone else, totally go for the noodles too! Next time, I’m not leaving without trying the udon! Done eating — heading back to my hotel~! Back at the hotel after dinner! I had this snack the other day and it was so good, so when I saw a chocolate version at the convenience store, I hesitated for a sec, but ended up buying both 🐷 Tokyo Tower was green instead of red tonight! Apparently it was for Green Ribbon Day, which promotes organ donation awareness 😉 I didn’t want to end the night just yet, so I decided to go for a short walk. It’s raining though… again. It’s literally rained every single night since I got to Tokyo ㅠㅠ
Why does the rain never stop in Tokyo I’ve gotten pretty familiar with Roppongi Station now! Arrived in Shibuya, and guess what — it’s raining again ㅠㅠ
It keeps stopping and starting nonstop. Am I bringing the rain with me or what? So many people everywhere! 📍Mega Don Quijote Shibuya Main Store Right at the entrance, there was a huge pile of the trending “tanned Hello Kitty” merch haha. The Sanrio characters in kimonos were so adorable 🤍 They even had Alfort biscuits in strawberry and sweet potato flavors! They also had apple and strawberry KitKats — I debated like a hundred times whether to buy them lol.
But in the end, my conscience won… I didn’t buy them 😅 Look at this tiny sushi accessory — the details are insane hahaha
I have no idea what it’s actually for though They were even selling Ichiran ramen meal kits at Donki! Pretty sure Alfort was cheaper here than at convenience stores…?! (Or maybe not?) They even had a whole separate Sanrio section inside! The hair clips were adorable, but I knew I’d never actually wear them, so I passed~~ I kept picking up this cute keychain, trying to convince myself to buy it…
Now I kinda regret not buying it… sob They had so many different kinds of Sanrio keychains too! And these tiny plushies… ㅠㅠ too cute to handle A squished-looking Lion plush…
Doesn’t it totally look like a bootleg? The face is all squished ㅠㅠ That subtle off look somehow makes it even funnier (and more annoying) I wandered around looking at all sorts of random stuff!
In the end, I didn’t buy anything… my wallet stayed strong 🙂↔️ 📍Torikizoku Roppongi Higashi
I wanted a solo drink, so I came back to the yakitori place I visited on my first day. You can order everything from a tablet — perfect for introverts like me. Cheers, everyone! 🍻 Isn’t that first beer after a long day of sightseeing just the best? It just keeps going down so smoothly (nods approvingly) 😌 Yakitori isn’t too heavy,
so it’s perfect beer food in my opinion ^^ It seems perfect as a beer snack. Just scrolling through my phone leisurely, having good snacks and cold beer, and zoning out — such a satisfying little solo time.
These quiet moments are what really heal me. Excuse me~ another draft beer, please! 🍺 Did you know Tokyo Tower lights turn off at midnight? I just found out — so fascinating ㅎㅅㅎ Today’s the day they clean my hotel room! My room is an absolute disaster lol. This hotel has an open space right in the middle! The building’s structure is pretty unique. The weather in Tokyo today is super sunny. I was actually planning to go on a day trip outside Tokyo today, but I ended up oversleeping. And when I finally woke up, I got too lazy to go anywhere. So I changed my plan and decided to just hang around central Tokyo again. I was supposed to have lunch on my day trip, but since I’m not going anymore, I started wondering what to eat. I found out there’s a famous chicken cutlet place called Imakatsu near my hotel.
It was already popular, but it got even more famous after appearing on Choo Sung-hoon’s YouTube channel. So I’m heading there now—it’s a bit past opening time. There might be a bit of a wait, I’ll check when I get there—if it’s not too crowded, I’ll wait, but if it’s packed, I’ll find another place. 📍Imakatsu Roppongi Main Store
They even have a special “Choo Sung-hoon set” on the Korean menu. I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I ordered the Imakatsu Set. Luckily, the wait wasn’t long—I got in after about 20 minutes. Japan trip rule: day drinking is totally acceptable. They took my order while I was waiting, so the food came out fast. Why do I always show it after already taking a bite lol. The chicken cutlet was just as everyone said—soft and juicy, not dry at all. I couldn’t believe it was even chicken breast.
You wouldn’t know unless someone told you. Also, their cabbage salad is amazing. I even got a refill—twice lol. The chicken cutlet was great, but the other side dishes were really good too, so I definitely recommend getting the full set meal. Finished eating and on the move~_~
Wait, is this Tokyo Midtown? I’m passing through Tokyo Midtown on my way to Harajuku, where Kiddy Land is. Should I take a quick look around Midtown? 📍MUJI Tokyo Midtown
I came to MUJI. Time to look around a bit~ I used to love MUJI’s desserts back in my college days, and seeing them in Japan—there are so many kinds! My all-time favorite was the peanut chocolate. After a quick look around MUJI, I headed over to Harajuku. 📍Harry Potter Shop Harajuku
The Harry Potter shop was right outside the subway exit! As a Potterhead, I had no choice but to go in right away. They also had lots of Fantastic Beasts merchandise. There were tons of people—both adults and kids! Harry’s birthday cake keychain!
I went back and forth a million times about buying it, but ended up getting it—and it’s now on my daily bag. The weather was so nice it felt like all of Tokyo came outside. Even doing nothing felt so relaxing and happy.
I guess that’s the magic of traveling—just walking around is fun. 📍KIDDY LAND Harajuku This place is an absolute heaven for cute stuff. A second heaven of cute things. And a third heaven of cute things! You can’t leave without trying the gachapon machines. They’re all so soft and cute—I’d be happy with any of them~~~ The crying face one was just too cute (♥). 📍Ralph’s Coffee Omotesando After just a bit of shopping, I came here for a caffeine refill. The café is connected to the Ralph Lauren store, and it’s beautifully designed. My hair ended up way too curled that day lol. Ahh, that caffeine hit just right. I sat there for about 30 minutes, recharging with coffee. Now I’m heading to Asakusa. Just a happy tourist on the subway. 📍Asakusa I just arrived in Asakusa, and this neighborhood is so pretty. There are people walking around in kimonos here and there, It kind of reminds me of Insadong in Korea. There are more restaurants than I expected, so I’m just gonna follow my instincts and start walking. The streets are so beautiful. Ah, here it is. This must be it. That must be Sensō-ji Temple over there. It looks even more beautiful with this nice weather. Scanning the area for food options. Honestly, I debated for a long time whether to come to Asakusa or not, but I would’ve totally regretted it—it’s so full of autumn vibes and charm. I’m not sure what these are, but there’s a row of them along the path to Sensō-ji. Maybe they’re for making wishes? Oh, I think it’s the place where you draw your fortune slips. How do I buy it? You put some coins in that slot yourself and then shake the container lol. When you shake it, a wooden stick comes out with a number written on it! Mine was number 48. Then you find the drawer with your number and take out your fortune slip. Each number has a different fortune inside! Mine said “small luck,” haha. At least it wasn’t bad luck! It basically said something like “after hardships, happiness will come.” Sensō-ji is seriously grand. The statues and decorations are huge—it’s kind of overwhelming in a good way. Looks like you can go up there too. It’s so crowded here ~_~ Once you go up the stairs, this is what it looks like inside! What’s this? People seem to be performing some kind of ritual, but I’m not really sure what it is. I still need to make up for the 20,000 steps I missed yesterday, so I’ll walk around the area for a while. I heard there’s a place nearby that sells really good strawberry mochi, but why can’t I find it?ㅠㅠ Why can’t I see it? Strawberry mochi~ Lalalalalala~ They have a lot of kimono rental shops here too. That Shiba dog is so cute. There’s even a little walking toy dog at the subway station lol, it’s adorableㅠㅠ They have tons of cute character socks too. Should I buy one of these for my husband? He really likes Kuromi. I don’t really have anything else to do… maybe I’ll go to Starbucks? But if I’m gonna fill my stomach with something, shouldn’t it be beer?
The logic of a true beer lover. That golden building over there is the Asahi Beer headquarters!
The one with the golden foam shape on top! It kinda looks like a giant… um… dog poop lol. And that tall one peeking out in the back is Tokyo Skytree. The view is amazing. The river view was beautiful too. In the end, I came all the way to Asahi’s headquarters just to drink their draft beer lol.
There’s a lounge bar on the rooftop of the Asahi building! It must be really popular because the line was insane—I waited almost 40 minutes. 📍Asahi Sky Room This is a beer bar located on the top floor of Asahi’s headquarters. You can enjoy Asahi draft beer while overlooking the view of Asakusa! It was 4:47 p.m., so I only had about 15 minutes left, I had to drink quickly before heading to my next reservation. Because I had a dinner reservation at 5.ㅠㅠ The wait was longer than I expected, so I didn’t get much time to enjoy the beer.ㅠㅠ Even though I was drinking in a rush, Asahi Super Dry still tasted heavenly 💙 The atmosphere of drinking beer with a skyline view was amazing. It was sunset, which made it even better. If you’re an Asahi fan, you’ve got to come here at least once! 📍Asakusa Tsukijiro Hanare After finishing my beer, I rushed straight to the restaurant lol. Tonight’s dinner: Monjayaki! Tokyo is apparently the birthplace of monjayaki, so I was super curious to try it. They pour all the ingredients onto the griddle like this, then add a thin batter, and even throw in some cheese! Then they chop it all up really fast! Here’s the finished monjayaki—it looks… interesting. Before eating, gotta start with a sip of draft beer~! Yes, I did just come from drinking beer, thank you for noticing lol. It’s kind of hard to describe the look of this dish… lol. You’re supposed to eat it using these little mini spatulas. But honestly, it was good! Kind of like grilled cabbage porridge lol. It tastes better when you let it burn a little like this. I mean, how can grilled carbs not be delicious?! It’s the kind of flavor that makes you nod with every bite. It’s a bit salty too, so it pairs perfectly with beer!! I enjoyed it for about 30 minutes and then headed out! ~ On the phone with my husband ~
Monjayaki was so good. ~ Still on the phone ~
I think Japanese food might really be my thing lol. ~ Still chatting ~
Guess what — I booked a night view at Tokyo Skytree for tonight. ~ On the phone ~
Still, it was such a fun day~ ~ Wrapping up the call ~
It’s my last night here… and your last night of freedom too, bye~ lol Sensō-ji was pretty during the day, but it’s so much prettier at night!! The Asakusa shopping streets looked absolutely gorgeous tooㅠㅠㅠㅠ Now I’m off to the last stop of the day — Tokyo Skytree~ That tall tower you see right now is the Skytree. Tokyo Tower glows red, but Skytree shines blue at night — totally different vibes. Then it hit me — this is my last night in Tokyo. I thought five days would feel long, but now that it’s ending, I feel so sad. If you come to Tokyo, you have to stay at least five days. Two or three nights? Way too short, trust me. Tokyo’s basically Japan’s Seoul — there’s just so much to see and do. And for those who love shopping, there’s endless stuff to buy. Personally, I loved how much good beer I got to drink here. I visited a brewery, a beer factory, and even bars run by beer brands themselves, and drinking draft beer straight from the source just hits different.
It was so fun getting to try flavors I’d never find back home in Korea. I kind of wish tonight would never end. 📍Pain Maison Asakusa
I randomly came across a bakery called Pain Maison!! Of course, I couldn’t just walk past — I had to go in lol.
They even had a Korean menu — that was so cool! Even though it was late, they still had plenty of bread left. I bought one plain salt bread and one melon salt bread — I’ll eat them back at the hotel! The closer I got to Skytree, the more stunning it looked. They were even having an Oktoberfest event right in front of the entrance lol.
Makes sense — it is October! I wanted to join in for a beer, but shy little introverted me just walked past… I exchanged my pre-booked ticket from Klook! The elevator shoots you up to the 350m observation deck in seconds. The elevator lights were so flashy and cool. And just like that — we arrived at 350 meters high! I bought the ticket that came with a drink coupon, so I could order something at the café here! There’s a special area that only café customers can enter. It’s standing only, but you can lean on the tables while enjoying the night view. I ordered a glass of Suntory draft beer~ The lighting made me look like a ghost in my photos lol. Just like at Asahi Sky Room earlier, beer tastes even better when you’re drinking it with a viewㅠㅠ
Delicious beer + a beautiful view = pure happiness…🖤 It really made me go, “Kya~” out loud. I had a lot on my mind lately, but zoning out while watching Tokyo’s night view felt so peaceful. Listening to a Japanese city-pop playlist on YouTube made it even better!! Personally, I liked Skytree more than Shibuya Sky ㅎㅅㅎ
At least when I went, Skytree was way less crowded. After admiring the view, I suddenly got hungry — so I ate my bread right after coming down lol. It got a bit soggy in my bag, but it was still deliciousㅠㅠ I can’t even imagine how amazing it would’ve been fresh and warm… 📍Daimon Station
I couldn’t call it a night yet, so I teleported (kinda) to see Tokyo Tower! It’s my last day in Tokyo, and I’m so sad about it. I’ve always seen Tokyo Tower from my hotel window, but tonight I’m going to see it up close. Me, running across the street so I don’t miss the green light — typical tourist moment. 📍Shiba Park
If you search “Shiba Park” on Google Maps, you’ll get a great view of Tokyo Tower! Even though it was late, the park was full of people — kind of like Hangang Park in Seoul. I just plopped down on the grass lol. Here’s the view of Tokyo Tower from here. Hi~ Hi~ 👋 It’s beautiful from afar, but seeing it up close is even betterㅠㅠ I couldn’t stop staring — it was that pretty. After spacing out while looking at the tower, I headed back to my hotel before it got too late. Ending the day at a convenience store is an unspoken rule when you’re in Japan~! Goodbye, my last night in Tokyo~! The next morning, I was dragging my feet — I really didn’t want to check out lol. Of course, the weather had to be perfect on the day I was leaving~~! I started packing up my suitcase, bit by bit. Packing after a trip is seriously the most annoying thing ever.. Goodbye, my cozy little hotel room — it’s been fun~! I checked out of the hotel and left my luggage there for the day. Can’t believe it’s the last day of my trip~ I’m so sad. I actually have a lunch reservation later today. ’ve got some time before that, so I’m heading to Tokyo Tower to take some pictures. The weather is so good today~ seriously perfect~ I’m going back to Shiba Park, where I was last night lol. There’s a Tokyo Tower “secret spot” around here — lots of people were taking photos there! I’m trying to find the same spot from last night, but this park is huge and I’m totally lostㅠㅠ 📍Shiba Park
Finally found it!! The exact same spot from yesterday! Gotta take at least one last picture here. Trying to find the best angle for the shot lol.
But my face looks so tired in all of them lolol. There were lots of joggers and other tourists taking pictures too, so people kept walking into the background of my shots. So yeah… no good pictures came out lol. Still, I tried to capture some good video clips — Tokyo Tower is just so beautiful. It’s pretty at night, but the red color is so pretty during the day. 📍Unagi no Naruse Roppongi
After taking photos, I headed to the restaurant I reserved! Their eel bowls start at 1,600 yen~~
This unagi (eel rice bowl) spot near Roppongi Station has amazing value. And of course — beer was a must lol. A big sip of beer~! This unagi bowl was 2,200 yen! Pretty cheap, right? I think it’s imported eel, so it’s more affordable. First bite — yum. The sauce was perfectly seasoned, and the rice was so goodㅠㅠ It was good on its own, but even better with some green onion. But my favorite was eating it as ochazuke (with tea poured over it)!! It’s been a while since I had unagi, and it was so satisfying~! I finished my eel bowl and left — seriously, this place was amazing. I ordered the 3/4 eel bowl and an Asahi draft beer. All that for 2,800 yen — around 26,000 KRW? You’d never find this quality at that price in Korea — and it was genuinely delicious. There’s a reason it has a 4.7 rating on Google. Why does the weather have to be this perfect on the day I’m leavingㅠㅠ Roppongi is lively even during the day~~~! Japan has the cutest little illustrations everywhere lol. I headed to Ebisu Station for my final draft beer in Japan! 📍Ebisu Garden Place
This place is way bigger than I expected ㅇㅅㅇ And my destination—right here! The Ebisu Brewery. The whole Ebisu Garden Place area is beautifully designed, with lots to see. 📍Yebisu Brewery Tokyo You head downstairs inside the building—it feels almost like a department store! They even have a Korean menu ㅎㅅㅎ I ordered a four-beer tasting set! From left to right: Original Yebisu, Wheat, Dark, and today’s special.
Today’s special was an ale. First sip of the classic Yebisu — and yep, still amazing lol. It was my first time trying the Yebisu Weizen, and it was so good. As a wheat beer lover, I could just lie down here forever ㅇ<-< The dark beer felt a bit lighter compared to other brands. I’m not even sure what today’s ale was, but it was delicious too lol. I know I keep saying everything’s good, but seriously — it really wasㅠㅠ!! If you’re a beer lover, you have to visit the Yebisu Brewery~~~! On my way out after finishing my beers at the brewery, the beer was great, the weather was perfect, and the mood was just right, I felt absolutely amazing. Ahh… I wonder if I’ll ever get to come back here again. If I ever come back to Tokyo, this’ll definitely be one of my first stops. I’ve always liked Yebisu beer, but this was my first time trying their wheat, dark, and ale versions. They don’t export those to Korea, after all. After only drinking the original, it was fun to try the variety. It really made me go, “Yep, this is Yebisu.” Maybe it’s the beer talking, but wow—I’m out of breathㅠㅠ so tired.. The weather in Tokyo was so nice, I almost wanted to cancel my flight home. 📍Comme des Garçons ZOZO PLAYBOX
I stopped by Omotesando and bought a cardigan. It’s a gift for my husband! Omotesando was absolutely packed with people. It’s always crowded, but since it’s the weekend, it was even worse! Before heading back to pick up my luggage, I decided to grab one last meal — tsukemen, something I’ve been craving in Japan. This place is near Roppongi Station, where I was staying. I came here on purpose so I could grab dinner and then head straight to my hotel for my luggage. You know that feeling when even the neighborhood park looks beautiful just because your trip is ending? lol The cool early autumn breeze was absolutely perfect. Tokyo Midtown was right nearby, but I hadn’t really explored it until now! Next time I visit Tokyo, I definitely want to hang out here too lol. 📍Menya Musashi Kosho Roppongi It was my first time trying tsukemen (dipping noodles)~~~! I’ve been dying to try it. I was being super careful not to splash it on my white shirtㅠㅠ Surprisingly, it was completely full even though it was that awkward 4 p.m. time. The noodle-slurping ASMR from the next table was intense lol. Everyone was just quietly focused on their noodles, heads down. It was my first tsukemen experience — and it was so good!! Look at how tender that meat is… everything was insanely delicious. After finishing my last meal in Japan, I picked up my luggage and started heading out~! I took the Skyliner train to Narita Airport. 📍Narita International Airport
There’s my plane — goodbye for now. My first Tokyo trip was an absolute blast! See you in the next travel vlog~! ✈️💕 Solo Trip to Tokyo | The end
