Welcome to Rothenburg ob der Tauber! 🎄
We’re stepping into a 500-year-old Christmas tale. We were here about three months ago for a walking tour
and were completely amazed. I hope the Christmas market is as beautiful as the town itself. There’s St. Jacob’s Church (St. Jakobskirche). I think it gets really busy here in the evenings. Look at how the market stalls frame the historic building. Even on a weekday, it’s lively already. We’ll come back tonight when all the lights are on
to explore the market in more detail! 💡 Now let’s follow the lights
toward the heart of the town, the Market Square. Look! A traditional Santa is playing the Laterna.
Let’s listen for a moment… 🎅🎶 Here’s the famous Käthe Wohlfahrt gift truck!
One of Rothenburg’s iconic landmarks. 🎁🚚 We even went INSIDE this amazing Christmas village!

A relaxed way to see the Old Town without too much walking. 🚐 Now a short stop at “Teddyland”.
Germany’s largest teddy bear store! 🧸 The closer we get to the main square, the busier it becomes.
Can you feel the festival energy? ⚡ Look at this beautiful building!
That’s the “Geschenkehaus” (Gift House). 🎁 And here is the impressive Town Hall (Rathaus).
Notice the mix of architectural styles? 🏛️ Back is Gothic (1250), front facing the square is Renaissance (1572). Are the bells ringing? The sound comes from this white building,
the historic “Ratstrinkstube”. 🔔 The Rothenburg Christmas Market is known as “Reiterlesmarkt”.
It has kept its traditions for centuries. 🎄 Right now we’re just enjoying the atmosphere.
The medieval buildings make everything magical. ✨ To see Germany’s most famous photo spot,
we step away from the square for a moment. 📸 We continue down the cobblestone street.
The iconic view awaits. We don’t pass the souvenir shops without a peek. And here’s “Plönlein”.

and the Christmas lights are slowly coming on. 🕯️ Pure magic. ✨ Wish the lighting was a bit better. I found a similar Plönlein-style house in Eguisheim, France.
I highly recommend that walk too. It’s getting dark now.
We head back to the Market Square to see the lights! 💡 Now the real magic begins.
