Ibusuki, Kagoshima (鹿児島県指宿市) – Bettei Amafuru Oka (別邸天降る丘) Amafuru Suite (天降るスイート) tour 2025 Nov. 26
We are in the island of Kyushu in Kagoshima prefixure in Ibusuki. I’ll get to that in a second. This is a inn called Bete Amafuru Oka. This is the Amafuru suite. Um there’s no room number uh written here because it is the suite here. Um but it’s number 403. The sweet name is Tuki. um for what it’s worth. And so uh Ibusuki is on the southern southern southern tip of Kagoshima Free Picture, which is about as south as you can get in Kyushu, southern island, one of the southern islands of Japan. Um and so it’s known for the sand baths. Um and that’s what people come to Ibusuki for. Um this place has more than that. um which I’ll go into in a second. So anyways, this is a 16 room um I wouldn’t say a yoga, it’s more like a hotel, if you will. Um it’s it’s not a classical um Japanese inn um that you would come to expect when you hear the word. So let’s just call it establishment or property. And uh so it’s a 15 room property in Ibusuki um in Kagoshima. And uh the interesting thing about this place is that uh it’s in a sprawling compound. There’s a lot of things to do here. There’s a more than a few rental uh private ba uh onen hot springs baths. There’s more than a few um uh other things to do, including the sand baths. Um there’s a ceramic rock bath. And then there’s a lot of the the hot springs. As I just said, this is the uh they even have a golf simulator um as well as ko. So it’s sort of like a one of these bigger onen establishments that that you might see. It’s more kind of package tourism style, but it’s the reason for that is that the owner of this place in fact next door is a hospital and the hospital is for canc treating cancer and um so it’s been here. There’s also a cancer treatment um actually uh not hospice but a place for recovery that people can stay which is separate from the hospital although in the same compound and then they have what’s called greenpia um which was not owned by the owner. Greenpia in Japan is a concept where it’s a um it’s run by the the country and I don’t know the qualifications or the criteria but um senior citizens it’s you know there’s a there’s a community for them um where there’s a lot of activities it’s it’s more like a utopian society if you will um this concept sprouted a while back but it’s slowly I guess started dying down for whatever reason I don’t know all the details of it. Um so um the owner of the cancer treatment hospital acquired um most of the land of Greenpia and also still operates a portion of it. And so the rest of the uh the property he turned into two hotels. One is called Bay Hills which is a larger uh traditional hotel, many more rooms. And then he carved out a um portion of that se a section that’s not accessible to Beay Hills and the cancer treatment guests and turn it into a luxury um uh property called Bet Amafuru Oka. So the ski room 112 square meters suite. This is a powder room here. And then so you can see it’s it’s quite large. And then there’s actual closet space to put your stuff in. Uh they even have a washing machine. Um they have um the yucata wear. There is also pajamas. And then uh you know since it’s becoming chilly in the autumn that you you have a little Japanese style jacket you can wear over the robes. Um so what else? What else is there to say? Um actually there’s supposed to be a lot to say. Oh so so anyways the the view from here is spectacular. Um, Kagoshima is a one massive bay and two peninsulas. I can’t actually get out of here from here. Let me see if I can open it from here. Hold on one second. All right, here we go. Let’s take a good look here. So, all the rooms have uh at Bete Amafuroka have uh uh in room onsen bath straight from the source. So they dug it, they they they get the source from the property grounds. So anyways, that that’s that’s why there there’s a lot to do. It’s connected to Beay Hills Hotel and actually the sand bath, the and the ceramic bath uh as well as the private baths are all um shared with uh uh Bay Hills. So when you check in, make sure to the extent that you want to do something um you know, try to reserve it in advance. So what we’re doing is we’re going to have uh the sand bath, steamed sand bath, um this afternoon, followed by dinner, and then after breakfast and before checkout, we will do the ceramic uh spa or bath or whatever you want to call it. Um so yeah so this is uh overlooking Ibusuki city and the bay. All right I think that’s that. Oh uh one thing I will say is I I I believe the building and the structure is um has been around for a while. I don’t know for how long. Anyways this this um was established in December of 2020. um along with Bay Hills. So, it’s it’s pretty fresh and new. They they modernize it, but it was probably a room before and maybe they turn two rooms into one. I’m I’m not quite sure, but um some of the construction of of uh the materials is not befitting of a uh luxury property. Uh no offense to them. Um it it looks nice and um you know modern, but uh the craftsmanship is not quite on a level that you’ll find in um yokans that uh were built from the ground up as a luxury property. So anyways, but it ticks all the boxes. You can see dual sinks. You have a shower, um, bathroes, a kick-ass onen, and um, large TVs, multiple desks, and um, western style living room, a kitchen, mini bar, even a little wine refrigerator. So, Bete Amafuru Oka, the Tsuki room, room 403. Um, and the suite type is the Amafuru suite is the room category. I I guess I didn’t go into that. I didn’t mention that earlier. Hope you enjoyed.
