Let’s play Uh, I’d like a pair of gloves, too Huh gloves No gloves No gloves Just do it Okay, I’ll do it with my bare hands Bare hands You think a camper cares about that I’ll tell him what to do Hello, Barke campers I’m camping with my friends with my friends There’s a lot of them. There’s a lot of them That’s a lot of poles We just need to put them by color This is my friend from Japan Come on, go in Come on Why didn’t you bring an air tent It’s heavy Heh, heh, heh Come on When you get in, put it up from the center For reference, I’ve never done this before Is this the right place One more time One more time Here x2 There x3 No x3 hehehehe Here No Here x3 Ah~ there Is this the right place Uh, go up Okay There you go Stand there Uh-huh Come on, come on, come on Wait After all, friends tease is honey jam I’ll show you of Korean camping Are you done Yep Nothing missing Yep What Hehehehe Uh~ This I’m trying to pamper myself somehow One two three Okay Let’s see how we do in Japan Heh, heh, heh Same thing Well done I’ll do it there too~ Hehehehe High school friend and our time is still frozen in that time When I see my childhood friends, I just feel so innocent He lives in Japan and he wanted to go camping in Korea so I invited her She especially wanted to try out the harmony stove, so I prepared it Uh, okay Is it good Yeah It’s working You got it The height of the flue is a camper’s pride, right First time ever setting up a wood stove in a tent properly Okay, final touches, let’s go New item of the day A wood pile driver Pretty cool, huh We’ve got another friend coming, but he’s running late I’ll have some cup noodles to warm up This is a Japanese camper He’s traveled all the way from Japan to see what it’s like to camp in Korea He’s really falling in love with the wood stove I didn’t connect the flue correctly, so it’s a little warped Next time, I’ll make sure to join it properly This is a sickle-shaped pile driver It’s a very good value for the money I like the fact that it takes two Here we go Oh, my God, it’s so warm I like it, the peace stove It’s a pain in the ass to set up, that’s for sure Come on, let’s do a little camping While we eat Already We’re just getting started One of the hot topics in Korea right now is the check-in and check-out times Usually 2 o’clock in 11 to 12 o’clock That’s the campground rules Are they all the same Pretty much So people get in around 2:00 or 3:00 set up, eat dinner, go to bed and then they have to get up and leave in the morning Yeah That’s a lot of time But, you know on a Sunday afternoon, for example usually if there’s no one else there if there’s no one else, right There are some complaints about that I was wondering, in Korea do you have any free sites Most of them are zoned sites They’re zoned Usually, they are There are some sites that are first come, first served First come, first served They’re all zoned Most of the time, they’re zoned There are some that aren’t but that’s rare In Japan, when we say campgrounds there are two types of campgrounds For example, when you make a reservation How much is in one area There are places like this and the other is a free site So there’s a big open field and you can pitch wherever you want It’s like open-air camping It’s backcountry camping, but it’s a campground Zoned sites are after 3:00 p.m Uh, after 3:00 That’s usually a lot And then you have a check-out time of 11:00 12:00 is rare Sometimes 10:00 is early Then you can actually go and just pitch have dinner have a quick breakfast and just get out If you’re doing a two-night stand But the free campgrounds you can come in anytime after, say, 8:00 a.m you can come in anytime and the sites are unzoned so as long as there’s a spot you can just go to an empty one Leaving depending on the situation 3:00 p.m. Some places, like this one There are places that let you stay until 2 or 3 in the afternoon That’s okay In Japan, not all sites not all sites have access to electricity Electric sites are 100% zoned and the free sites don’t have electricity Then if you compare it to Korean campgrounds I’d have to compare it to a zoned site But it’s a little bit like an open field You can’t use electricity and you can play freely is in a campground But there are a lot of them I usually go to a lot of free sites They’re a little cheaper How much Uh, that’s a mixed bag, too But there’s an average In Korea, 50,000 won They start at 50,000 won Usually, you don’t use electricity It’s just a free site if it’s two people, it usually starts at about 70,000 won 70,000 won? Free site Uh, yeah But what if you use electricity at the zoned site then it’s almost 100,000 won That’s expensive It’s expensive About 70,000 won is fine It feels cheap and it goes up from there Then Electricity usually costs about 100,000 won That’s right Then Korea is cheap because Korea has electricity But Korea is mostly It’s like a campground right here like a campground But in the case of free sites like Japan when I saw pictures and stuff like that it’s like, “Oh, my God Is it as close as this But if you time it wrong it’s a free site, so you have to pitch them somehow So you get closer, like this Normally you’re gonna have a lot of spacing between sites, right compared to this Yeah, free sites, yeah But the zoned sites are close Japanese zoned sites are similar Yeah, if you compare them in zones, they’re similar It’s like this Japanese campers they’re gonna go to a lot of free sites But Korea, too there are sites that are very isolated They’re independent And those campgrounds can cost anywhere from 80,000 won sometimes 100,000 won And in those places the facilities are a little different They usually have individual showers It’s gonna get better The facilities are really good It’s almost like a hotel I don’t know what’s better the way I see it the way the campground is run, the free site concept is much better You can come and go as you please The only downside is that there’s no electricity anymore that there’s no electricity anymore Yeah, there aren’t many places in Japan that have electricity For example, there’s a place like that It’s a nice area, it’s a good neighborhood and famous electricity sites I don’t go to those places It’s too expensive It burns up fast Yeah So, how about a shower Are they good Usually no hot water Like, out of ten places I’ve been to two of them have hot water and the rest don’t And then some places some don’t, some do But in Korea, you always have to get hot water Oh, there’s no such thing When it comes out, it’s like, “Okay, thank you Recently, there are some big places The restrooms are definitely cleaner in those places It’s not about whether the facilities are cleaner or not Basically, hot water comes out cold water comes out well There is no such thing And then the water fountains have hot water That’s the basics You’re saying there’s no such thing In Japan, everything is an option There are more things that aren’t there I think Korea is better in terms of simple amenities Korean campers shouldn’t complain about the campgrounds Hehehehe Compared to Japan Korea is much better, in terms of facilities Also, you mentioned Korea before that there are a lot of decks Lots of decks Japan has no decks No decks No, where are the decks It’s all on the ground Especially the free sites They don’t make it even It’s just the ground Here you go It’s a bit like letting the cows loose on the ranch You just have to find it yourself If it’s a little bumpy in some places you’re looking for a flat spot Noji. Noji That’s the concept So you pay to camp in the open air Heh, heh, heh So, what about manor time Manor time I think it’s similar, usually around 10 or 11 And in the morning Not really in the morning So there are people who leave really early Some people pack up and leave before 8:00 And then there’s Korea There are some people this manners time They’re drinking, they’re playing music smoking on the site There are people like this Is there Japan They don’t have cigarettes They have cigarettes But there are some loud kids Young people who have just been camping They’re young, they’re excited They don’t know the rules And I have to remind them every once in a while Like, if it’s after 12:00 you can’t really talk too much Then I’ll tell them I think this is your first time here If you go in and talk, I can hear you, so I tell you to be quiet I’m sorry Shut up Then be quiet It’s a little loud, then quiet And then there are some people who just really drink and talk And then they’ll talk, and then they’ll talk you can still kind of hear them but it’s not like they’re just crazy So there are people living there too It’s the same in Japan The truth is the truth Some have the truth, some don’t And I don’t know if Korea or Japan Should I call it a tent function or design There’s a big difference What Well, there’s something that Korea has that Japan doesn’t have What’s that Especially in the winter I’ve never seen that in Japan In Korea, winter tents are always there Maybe it’s because it’s cold again Skirt No Then Urethane Ah~ Urethane windows That’s right, no urethane spears I’ve never seen one in Japan I first saw them in Korea But I like it when I see it Okay This is because in Japan they have to close all the doors when it’s cold Yeah, you can’t see out That’s right But there’s not a single Japanese brand that does that Tokyo Craft Danda Oh, really Well, that’s probably out of all the tent brands in the world that have urethane windows, right Uh, I guess not But okay With urethane windows it’s definitely less stuffy So when I saw it, I thought “Oh, this is gonna be comfortable Anyway, I wanted to take a shot at this because I remember my first camping trip my first camping trip to Snow Peak So I have a good feeling for Japanese brands and then I realized and then there’s my wannabe and then there’s my wannabe So I’ve always wondered what the camping culture is like in Japan But it turns out I think it’s pretty much the same Yeah, it’s the same Almost the same It’s cold It’s getting cold It’s cold as the sun goes down After talking with my friend, I realized that Korea and Japan are both similar and different I can feel the differences in camping culture and atmosphere But I think the essence of camping is the same It’s about finding comfort and healing in nature In the end, the culture of camping seems to be universal I don’t think there’s anything better or worse I think it’s important to recognize the differences It was a valuable time that opened my eyes to new perspectives I would definitely like to try camping in Japan someday I want to experience their camping culture firsthand Especially with this friend I hope to camp with a view of Mount Fuji one day I’m happy to be able to dream this dream with my friend It’s a promise that I’m grateful for because we’ve been friends for so long Even if we are far apart, our hearts are always close It’s warm We’re down to the last friend They’re not scared of the fireplace, so they’re moving on Now, to celebrate this precious time Let’s start dinner Tonight’s dinner is lamb chops Here we go Thank you for your hard work today I had a hard time pitching a tent and filming YouTube You suck honey Hehehehe Come and eat only meat Well done I haven’t had lamb in a long time The same camping youtuber guy released this It’s made by a guy who owns a yakitori restaurant So I’m gonna have to rate it Uh, yeah, sure, since you’re Japanese I’m not Japanese Heh, heh, heh Is the “yaki” in yakitori a skewer Grilling “Tori” is chicken Sounds delicious The place I used to eat at They only sell this stuff They only sell chicken This is probably pork belly This one This is a lot of work We don’t sell this I think you can eat this Try it I’ll have to eat this Let’s have more chicken skewers More chicken skewers Delicious Yaki-kun chicken skewers This is my own money, no commercials What do you sleep on A towel I thought we were electricians and you were something else What’s that No, I sleep on a mat a mat that doesn’t get cold We sleep on the warmer ones Isn’t an electric sheet okay Doesn’t it keep the cold out But it’s for one person, so you have to sleep on your side It’ll be as warm as this No, it’s about right Yeah, your back will still be warm I needed kimchi anyway We can use this to give him a blood transfusion Heh, heh, heh I didn’t bring kimchi I didn’t bring a blanket What are you doing Heh, heh, heh We’ll see what we can do Why is it today Hehehehe Without a sleeping bag without a sleeping bag I forgot the most important thing, my sleeping bag and my electric sheet We’ll see if we can survive tonight with just a fan heater This is my new one-action field bed All you have to do is unfold the legs in one step, connect the frame, and you’re set The only downside is… is the weight, the bulk, and the price This is the Brenholz Legacy Coat I’ll wear the coat, my friends will sleep in the air bed I think we can do this I’ve been forgetting things lately I’ll be more organized next time It’s okay! If it’s cold, we can burn wood in the fireplace K – The spiciness of the weather, I’m going to show my Japanese friend It was cold I didn’t have a skirt on, so the cold wind just blew right in As soon as I woke up, I started a fire in the fireplace I realized the importance of my sleeping bag I’m grateful for my friends, who, despite my complaints, always agree with me Our friendship is even stronger now that we’ve endured the cold together Hehehehe I’ve been with these guys for over 20 years now From the innocent high school days when I didn’t know anything and now we’re in our 40’s and we know the world We’ve made so many memories together in that time I’m grateful to my friends who have always been there for me in important moments Sometimes we see each other like this and it’s as natural as if we met yesterday Our time still seems to be frozen in those days It was a precious time to forget about the complicated world for a while The enduring friendship is what keeps me going through life Having friends like this makes life less lonely Someone I can show my most honest self to That’s what friends are for Something tasted better yesterday Really Didn’t it taste better yesterday with a different broth It’s a little fresher than today Oh, yeah Yesterday’s leftover kimchi udon That was important It’s still delicious It’s delicious Now, then buy all the kimchi udon and eat it once and put ramen noodles on top Now, let’s pack up and get out of here This coat is really easy to pack up You just take it apart, fold it, and that’s it Nowadays, I find it easiest to fold and unfold in one step like this I had to be careful with this one because it was a little unstable I was nervous because the hooks came undone so easily This one was definitely more stable I’ve gotten really into wood gear lately, and I’m in the process of collecting a few I’ll show you all at once next time The smokestack was a little unnerving to remove Anyone know a good way to do it It’s time for my friend to go back to Japan and me to go home I’m afraid it’s time for us to go our separate ways That’s a camper friend. He’s so helpful We’ll say our goodbyes here We’re going to go now Bye

  7. What fun it must be for your friend to experience Korean camping with you. I hope to one day experience it as well. Thanks for sharing!!! 🤗👍🙏
